Letter from the principal
Dear Parents and Guardians,
Last night we had a nice turnout for the all-school town hall meeting. A hearty thanks to the parents and
panelists that attended. The folks in attendance asked for another town hall meeting! The next one will be in January 2019.
October 18, 2018 is the Oregon Great ShakeOut. Our school will participate. If time and weather permits
we may deploy our emergency student release plan, also known as a reunification plan. Please stay tune
for more details. If you want to assess your home disaster plan a good place to start is at the Oregon Great ShakeOut website. https://www.shakeout.org/oregon/
Have a great weekend. The weather should be perfect.
Sincerely

Do you have questions about the new building? Things have been moving quickly since we closed on the
building so we've created a page on the school website to give you a brief history of how we secured our
new school building, keep you updated on the progress, and answer your questions. See the
page here and remember to check back often as photos and updates will be posted regularly. We hope you enjoy watching the new Arco Iris home come together!

Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Pam CampBell and I am thrilled to be the counselor for Arco
Iris Spanish Immersion! Arco Iris is a special and dedicated community, and I ’m truly honored to be part
of it.
I received my MA in School Counseling from the University of Arizona. My counseling philosophy centers
around empowering children to make their own decisions. I emphasize critical thinking and problem-
solving while providing children with warmth, aid and support. I foster resiliency by teaching kids coping
strategies, as well as how to build upon their own intrinsic strengths. My goal is to help students develop into healthy, resilient and contented adults.
Below is a sample of services I offer (this is not an exhaustive list):
• Brief individual counseling-Meeting with students one-on-one to discuss concerns and work on social/emotional, academic or career goals
• Peer group counseling-Meeting in small groups (4-10 students) centered around common
concerns, such as divorce or grief
• Guidance lessons-Teaching entire classes lessons to foster competency in social -emotional, academic or career areas
• Consultation-Working with parents, teachers, and students to support student success in the
classroom, including establishing behavior and 504 plans. I may also aid families in finding
appropriate community resources as needed.
In accordance with the ethical standards of the American School Counselor Association, I practice
confidentiality with all students. That means that what a student tells me, in most cases, is private.
There are a few exceptions, which include:
1. A student tells me that they are going to harm themselves or someone else.
2. A student tells me that someone is harming them or someone else.
3. My records are subpoenaed or I am compelled to testify in a court case.
If you have a specific concern regarding your child, please do not hesitate to call me at 503-608-2152 or email me at [email protected].
Muchas gracias for your cooperation, and let’s have a great year!

Fourth graders – testers will first ask first if the kids can identify the countries and if they can ’t testers
will point to the countries and ask the kids to name them.
Fifth graders – testers will ask the kids to identify all five countries.
Also, help your kids bring one unique fact (one we didn't share during our presentation) to our custom agents on quiz day to win a real coin from another country!!!
