Maria Pia, an active Newcomer since 1948, would like to thank everyone for their support following the

death of her son, Frank, who passed away on August 28. A memorial was held at Maria’s home.

Dick Edsall passed away (Tuesday September 3). According to Arlene, he had a very peaceful passing at their

home. A memorial was held September 15th at the Willow Creek Country Club, with a luncheon following.

Our heartfelt condolences, Arlene.

Laurel “Deanie” Stewart a brief member of Newcomers, passed away on September 11th. She attended the

Connections group.

Dianne Aubrey, daughter of Marian McFarlin , won 1st prize at the fair this year, for her quilt, “Dresden Fan.”

Congratulations!

Rosemary Yuhasz is one luck lady; she won a $20 bus pass on a Wendover bus trip playing Bingo. Using this

pass, she again won the big prize, $100. Getting to Wendover, playing the slots, she won over $600. She

used the money to go to Connecticut to meet her two month old great granddaughters, Audrey and Alexis. Way to go, Rosemary!

Ray Donley was hospitalized after having multiple minor strokes. He is doing much better and is currently at

Rocky Mountain Care at 4090 W. Pioneer Parkway in West Valley City. He can receive visitors.

“Deserted.”

Leon and his wife Carol have been Newcomers’ Club members since 2008

after Leon and Carol moved back to Utah to be close to extended family.

Leon had retired and has always loved art. He started to experiment in the creation of pencil sketches, pen

and ink drawings and watercolors. Leon has not participated in art classes but received lots of encourage-

ment from family and friends. Leon was a participant in the Arts and Craft Extravaganza last year. This was

the first year Leon entered his work in the County and Utah State Fairs.

organizations to support with donations…The Utah Food Bank and Crossroads Urban Center.

The Utah Food Bank

Here’s how your $1.00 donation turns into $8.00. For every $1.00 donation the food bank is able to obtain

$8.00 in food for those in need. We are requesting you make out your checks directly to “The Utah Food

Bank.” At the November and December Luncheons there will be a basket by the reservation table to put

your checks in or you many give your check to Linda Rodgers.

Crossroads Urban Center

Crossroads provides homeless shelters in Salt Lake City. We are collecting blankets, socks, jackets, gloves,

whatever is warm for the homeless that they can take when they are on the streets. Have non expired food

to donate? We will take it to Crossroads as well. Please bring you donations to the November and De-

cember luncheon and the Community Resource Committee will collect them. Not going to the luncheons,

call a board member and we will arrange to pick them up.

Edison Stanford Hearing Center Invites you to test drive remarkable new digital hearing instruments. This offer is

free of charge and you are under no obli-

gation. These revolutionary digital instruments

use the latest technology to comfortably

and almost invisibly help you hear more clearly. This new technology solves the

“stopped up ears” and “head in a barrel”

sensation some people experience.

Special testing will be done to deter-mine the increased benefits of this

technology.

Benefits of hearing aids vary by type and degree of hearing loss, noise,

environment, accuracy of hearing test,

and proper fit. This is a wonderful opportunity to determine if hearing

help is available for your hearing loss

while you evaluate your performance with this technology.

If you wish to participate you will be required to have your hearing tested in our

office free of charge to determine candida-

cy. Qualified individuals will then be placed on a two week test drive period.

At the end of this period, you may pur-

chase the instruments, if you desire, at a reduced charge. Otherwise, there is no

charge whatsoever for participating in this

promotion.

Recommended by Hank & Marilyn Merrill

Call now if you wish to be included in

this test drive promotion. Test drive

dates are available until June 30.
