Presentation Notes
Since you are all coming from the Waco campus, you have been in close contact with the pre-nursing advisor and should be aware of the prerequisite requirements that you are lacking. Since Ms. Weishaupt has moved, Ms. Mullins, Ms. Lark, and Ms. Adcock are available to assist you with questions regarding prerequisites as necessary. Remember you must make at least a C (not a C-). You will not be allowed to attend orientation or begin classes if you have not completed all of your prerequisite courses.

CRIMINAL BACKGROUNDCHECK

• Criminal Background Check• Light Blue Information Sheet – PLEASE READ• Wait for an email with the information code

for your criminal background check• Initial Declaratory Order information will be

requested from the BON – wait until you receive a request from the BON

Presenter
Presentation Notes
Please remove the light blue information sheet regarding requirements from the BON. Texas legislation mandates the clearance of criminal background screening for all Texas nursing students prior to beginning a nursing program. You have already received information prompting you to obtain fingerprints for the Texas BON. This is a multilayer criminal background screen including state and federal criminal databases. As you review the Declaratory Order requirements listed on the form, IF they apply to you, begin gathering information such as court records to be ready to submit information to the BON when requested. DO NOT CONTACT THE BOARD. They will request information from you. If you have had adjudicated plea (teenage pranks such as taking the goats from the agriculture barn and putting in the opposing teams high school coaches office) could potential show on a criminal background screen due to improper court filings (human errors). If you have something in your background that you think might show up, begin to get the documents together. The board will request them if needed and it could take a month to six months depending on circumstances to clear your criminal background screen. It is imperative that if you have potential to have documents requested, they should be ready to send. Read the Psych information on the Blue Sheet: This is self reported. This information you should notify the BON via the declaratory order process. How will I know I have a clear criminal background? You will receive a BLUE Post Card in the mail. DO NOT DISCARD IT. Parents this is not junk mail (watch for it). You will upload a copy of the blue card to Castlebranch which we will explain shortly.

VERY IMPORTANTPlease read prior to starting immunizations!!!

Prior to administration of vaccines, please discuss with healthcare provider all vaccinations needed in order to begin clinical. The following items need to be taken into consideration when receiving vaccinations:

Live vaccines can be administered on the same day, if you were to have an MMR one day and then attempt to have the Varicella a day or two later the healthcare provider would not be allowed to administer the later vaccine. Student would need to then wait 45 days before the additional vaccines could be administered.

Although TB test can be placed on the same day as receiving live vaccines, TB test can not be placed a day or two after receiving a live vaccine. If this occurs student would need to wait 30 days before having the TB test placed and later read.
