IMA NEWSLETTER President’s Message Greetings Aggies! This past month has been great for IMA. For those of you who missed the last meeting, it was an awesome one. We heard from Matt Bryant (CEO) and Mike Smart (Human Resources) of Northwest Cosmetics Labs in Idaho Falls. They talked about the importance of being proactive with your career and working hard to get there. They also gave interview and resume tips, such as not making your resume so long that there is nothing to talk about in the interview and not taking a parent, spouse, or friend to your interview. Matt also has his CPA and CMA certifications, so he talked about the importance of the CMA and the role that it has played in his career. It really can give you that edge to propel you in the direction you want your career to go. Matt is an alumni of Utah State, and he is a great example to all of us. This past month we also did our annual Sub-For-Santa fundraiser. We sold raffle tickets, and all proceeds went towards giving children in our area a Christmas. Thanks to all who participated. We were able to raise over $460 and help seven children! Also this month, some officers in our chapter were able to attend the 2014 Student Leadership Conference in Indianapolis, Indiana. Joseph Brewer, one of the officers who attended, had this to say about the conference: The theme of the conference was 'Advance with Purpose,' which was consistent with the valuable things we learned. We were able to attend to beneficial educational sessions, networking opportunities, and social events. We met with successful business leaders who taught about the value of the CMA certification, how to network, and different accounting careers. Being able to learn from these seasoned professionals was the highlight of our trip. This year we received the Gold Chapter Award of Excellence for the 19th consecutive year, thanks to the hard work of our IMA chapter members and Faculty Advisor, Frank Shuman. We had an excellent trip and came back with eagerness to advance our education with leadership and continue building our local IMA chapter.Good luck with finals, and have a great break! Chelsea Hepworth, IMA President Chelsea Hepworth is an accounting major from Rupert, Idaho. She is currently in her senior year of the accounting program. In addition to serving as the IMA newsletter editor, Chelsea is also a member of Huntsman Scholars, SAEL, and the Honors program.
