BEING THANKFUL
Thanksgivingthe very word evokes a deep remembrance of wading through brigh
yellow leaves on the trek to my grandmothers house. My memory conjures the smof nutmeg and sage permeating every corner of the house. I can hear my uncles
laughing and poking fun at each other. Grandpa, of course, would be catching a nahis favorite chair. While sheer yumminess filled the air, anticipation ran rampant.
cousins would sneak though the back hall to steal a snippet of stuffing or a dinner r
fresh from the oven. As I made my way through their home I would see hermy
grandmother in her blue sweater, humming while she prepared the bulk of our feast
She was always the same. Never changingalways gracious. The thing I rememb
most is the peace that surrounded her.
Our Thanksgiving feast honors the familiar holiday rituals we yearn for from
childhood as well as new ones that define who we are now. These are the mainstay
our world. The things that make us anticipate the tradition of family and yes, of
Thanksgiving Dinner. Im thankful for these things and the memories I have of my
family and especially, my grandmother.
We, here at Norwood & Nostalgia, are thankful for many things. Were grateful fo

In 2014, there are some decorating trends that are up
and coming. Prepare to make some changes in your
home dcor! Or at least, a few pieces here and there.
First and foremost, the metal of choice this year will bebrass! I knowsome of you are cringing but, I for one
will be happy to display my brass candlesticks for all to
see.
Next, pieces of art! Whether it is an amazing painting
by a local artist or a sleek sculpture crafted by Rodin,
be prepared to be bold!
Plain fabrics are on the way outelegant fabrics such
as velvet and silk will fill the shelves of every design
house. My heart swoons over the tactile elements in
the home.
Finallyantiques! Well, of course we love this one.
Those of us who relish everything old will happily
agree that antiques are ALWAYS fashionable. They
are classically made, sturdy and timeless.
We have all of this and more to choose from atNorwood and Nostalgia. Stop by soon to see our vast
selection. See you soon! Here's a brilliant little tip to clean brass. Ketchup
does the trick just beautifully, so stop hunting for the
expensive Brasso and get your BBQ guests busy
while they await their burgers and dogs!!! It must be
the vinegar!
A quick way to clean silver is to mix 1/2 t. salt and
2 t. Arm & Hammer baking sodaadd these to a
medium size pot of boiling water. Reduce the heat;
place a piece of aluminum foil in the pot and add the
silver pieces. Poof! Instantly, the tarnish will be
gone, it really is magic.
Both of these tricks truly work wonders. I've amazed
even myself. Hope they're handy for you!
Cheers for now!

This autumn we long for tradition, a sense of place, a feeling of hom
Set the table and the mood. Let your table reflect the warm colors the season. Family china and linens may steer the table's theme, bu
introduce a few simple, pieces that can create an entirely new lookthat is as personal as it is inviting. A mix of antique cream ware,
vintage amber glasses and dessert plates, and the utter simplicity otaper candles in vintage silver candlesticks will set the mood.
Always employ your family heirlooms throughout the dining room, which can inspire the overall look of your table. Make use of yoursideboard or buffet to keep plates and glassware handy for the seco
course and the dining table uncluttered.
A centerpiece of copper vessels filled with seasonal flowers and bersprays will perfect your tablescape. Allow falls bounty to surroun
the burnished metal for a unifying look of the table.
Now, step back and admire your work. Lift your glass to friends an
family, tradition and discovery, and feel your spirit soar as you glan
around the table and experience the abundance of comfort that com
with good food and caring.

VENDORS OF THE MONTH
LARRY WHEATLEY
& AMY ESCHBACHERWhen stepping into Larry and
Amys shops at both Norwood and
Nostalgia one automatically knows
that these two can distinguish
exactly what an antique
connoisseur looks for such as
selection, quality and style. Their
knowledge of the antiques world is
vast and it certainly shows.
These two work together like
clockwork, but they should! Larry
is Amys father. They know each
other innately and seem to predict
what the others next move will be.
They work quietly, are able to take
a blank palate and create a work of
art in no time. Theyre a team
almost like Santa himselfthey toil
quietly to work their magic.
Larry always seems to know just
where a piece will work perfectly in
a tablescape. Amy follows through
and adds her touch of whimsy asshe goes. ThenVoila! Perfection!
Be sure to stop by both Norwood
and Nostalgia to enjoy their shops.
I f you are interested in becoming a vendor at Norwood Antique Mal l or Nostalgia, please let us know.
We, occasional ly, have available shops. Month ly rental pri cing depends upon the size of the shop.
