GRATEFULNESS

Thanksgiving…the very word evokes a deep remembrance of wading

through bright yellow leaves on the trek to my grandmother’s house. My

memory conjures the smell of nutmeg and sage permeating every corner of

the house. I can hear my uncles laughing and poking fun at each other.

Grandpa, of course, would be catching a nap in his favorite chair. While

sheer yumminess filled the air, anticipation ran rampant. My cousins would

sneak though the back hall to steal a snippet of stuffing or a dinner roll, fresh

from the oven. As I made my way through their home I would see her…my

grandmother in her blue sweater, humming while she prepared the bulk of

our feast. She was always the same. Never changing…always gracious.

The thing I remember most is the peace that surrounded her.

Our Thanksgiving feast honors the familiar holiday rituals we yearn for from

childhood as well as new ones that define who we are now. These are the

mainstays in our world. The things that make us anticipate the tradition of

family and yes, of Thanksgiving Dinner. I’m thankful for these things and

the memories I have of my family and especially, my grandmother.

We, here at Norwood, are thankful for many things. We’re grateful to be in

business, our vendors, our community and most of all…our customers.

Without you, we wouldn’t be here. Let us take this opportunity to say a

humble “Thank you.” We appreciate you and wish you a very Happy

Thanksgiving!

on the corner of Greene Street and Colegate Drive. We are conveniently located within minutes of I-77.

Normal hours of operation are Wednesday - Saturday 10:30-5:00, and Sunday 12-4.

Parking is plentiful and we are handicapped accessible.

Our Holiday Open Houses have been such great

successes that we have already planned our

Christmas Open House Celebration for Friday,

December 4th

from 9:00am until 9:00pm!

Stop by early and then enjoy our extended hours

well into the evening! We’ll be open from 9:00am

‘til 5:00pm during our regular business hours and

then transition to our Open House from 5:00pm

‘til 9:00pm!!!

We will have light refreshments and plenty of new

merchandise in stock. You never know – you

might just win one of our many door prizes!!! We

are also planning special late evening drawings for

all of our night owl shoppers!

Close your eyes…breathe deep...let your mind wander to another time, another place. Imagine yourself standing in the kitchen of an early American home. You’re enticed by the scents of a well-planned and carefully prepared Thanksgiving dinner wafting through the air. The sweet and savory smells envelop you as the fire swirls the warm, rich air throughout the room. In one corner, the stove is covered with pots full

of simmering vegetables. Sweet potatoes covered in brown sugar and honey. Greens and onions slowly brought to their flavor peak with tiny chunks of ham. Corn and squash slathered with butter. Each vessel holds the riches of the earth enhanced only by the seasonings added to each dish. As you peek in the hearth, it almost takes your breath away…the turkey. The golden brown beauty is ready to be pulled from the spit and placed on

the platter; ready to become the centerpiece of the harvest table. As you turn to the center of the room, the table fills the space with a welcoming beckon. Large and heavy, it shows years of faithful use. Today it’s covered with fruits and nuts atop a layer of the forest’s bounty. Pine cones, cranberries, acorns, colorful leaves and ground pine trail along the center of the table. Handmade breads and desserts complete the tablescape. Dinner is ready and the temptation is overwhelming. You take a step toward the table to take a seat. Welcome to the harvest table.
