This year we have had many wonderful things to celebrate, including individual, group and whole school achievements. We have been able to celebrate and acknowledge our students achievements with the introduction of the School’s Facebook page where we try to update parents and the community on upcoming activities and events as well as sharing our student success. As we reflect on 2019, we can see that our students have excelled in various arenas including sport, cultural and academic. Well done to all of our students for the effort and success that they have received individually. Every student succeeds at their own pace and in their own way. On Wednesday 12 December at 9:00am students will be able to meet their teachers for 2019 and move to their new classrooms. Their current teachers will escort students to the meeting area. Report cards will be sent home on Thursday afternoon. If students are not at school on Thursday to receive their report card, they will be sent via mail by the end of the week. No report cards will be sent home earlier. We have a number of celebration and reward activities for students throughout the week. We have our Year 6 Graduation at the Bundaberg Multiplex Convention Centre tomorrow night, starting at 7:oopm. Students are required to be at the Convention Centre between 6:30pm and 6:45pm so they can be seated in time for the ceremony to start. I would like to acknowledge the hard work of our School Captains, Sports Captains and Student Council this year. They have done an amazing job taking on the additional roles and responsibilities. I would particularly like to name our four School Captains: Fletcher, Sophie, Montana and Soraya. You have attended all of the additional events and represented Norville State School to the highest of standards. Your pride and level of commitment is exceptional. We also thank Fletcher for his wonderful Riddles in our fortnightly newsletter. Chris Munro will be returning as Principal to Norville State School in 2019. I have enjoyed my time this year as acting Principal, working closely with all staff and the community. I will be moving back to my original position of Deputy Principal, which unfortunately means that Mr David Routh will no longer be with us. Mr Routh has accepted an acting Deputy Principal role at Walkervale State School for 2019. We wish Mr Routh all the best and thank him for the work that he has done with us this year. School resumes on Tuesday 29 January - Monday 28 January is a public holiday for Australia Day. However the administration office will be open from 8:00am on Monday 21 January. Enjoy your Christmas and New Year and we look forward to seeing you all in 2019. FINANCE NEWS FROM THE OFFICE

ADJUSTMENT NOTE:

PAYMENT IS NOT REQUIRED ON AN ADJUSTMENT NOTE!

Adjustment notes are a credit which has been raised against aninvoice on your student’s account. This usually happens if yourchild doesn’t attend a scheduled event.

PAYMENT OF INVOICES:

Education Queensland’s preferred method of payment isthrough BPOINT, which is an online credit card payment facility.

BPoint is a very simple process which allows payment toautomatically be allocated and receipted to your child’saccount. There is no minimum payment amount.

If you have your Invoice electronically it is easy to make yourpayment. In the bottom left hand corner you will see theBPOINT box noting your CRN number and the Student’sInvoice Number. If you simply click on the web address listed atthe bottom of the box the system automatically takes you intoBPoint, and you are only required to enter the amount you arepaying! Very Easy!

If you are uncomfortable with this process, we are happy toaccept payment at the front office or by direct to bank deposit. If paying by direct to bank deposit, please ensure that StudentName and Invoice Number or Activity (eg. Touch) are listed.Details for this process can be obtained from the front office.

SECOND HAND UNIFORMSWe always welcome donations of unused uniforms and weappreciate your generosity! Thank you to those families whohave kindly donated their “out-grown” uniforms to our school.

SCHOOL ADMINISTERED MEDICATION –MUST READ

DEPARTMENTAL GUIDELINES:

OVER-THE-COUNTER (OTC) MEDICATIONS

The Department recognises that all medications, includingover-the-counter (OTC) medications, e.g. paracetamol oralternative medicines, may be drugs or poisons and may causeside effects. As such, schools are required to receive medicalauthorisation from a prescribing health practitioner (e.g. doctor, dentist, optometrist, but NOT a pharmacist) to administer anymedication to students, including those boughtover-the-counter.

Whilst parents may administer OTC mediations to their childwithout medical authorisation, they are aware of the child’scomplete medical history, and are able to provide ongoing, direct supervision for the course of the child’s illness. Due tothese circumstances, a parent is also more likely to recogniseif their child is having adverse effects and requires immediatemedical attention.

The student’s prescribing health practitioner also has theknowledge of the child’s medical history to determine theappropriate OTC medication to administer and is therefore ableto determine dosage and provide advice regarding potentialside effects or interactions with other medications.
