Linear’s 2-N-1 reader is a proximity reader designed to fulfill two different mounting requirements – without needing any additional hardware! The 2-N-1 can be installed as either a mullion-mount reader or, when paired with the provided adapter plate, turns the reader into a single-gang electrical box style reader. Customers get a clean, low profile for both mullion and single-gang installations ready to install right out of the box for either configuration. Linear’s cards and tags do not contain batteries, requiring no maintenance. Reduce your stock and never be on the job again without the right model reader!

eMerge is a Network Appliance. What exactly does that mean?
Basically, a network or computer appliance is an embedded system that is based on a dedicated hardware platform and designed to perform a specific range of functions. Hardware and software are pre-configured and installed by the manufacturer and can be easily operated to provide a range of functions – in this case all targeting physical security and fast access over a network to the system’s controls and capabilities.
eMerge is a configurable, integrated security management and access control system that can be managed from anywhere there is a network connection and access to a standard Internet browser. It is based on the industry-standard Linux operating system and requires no server or client software to be installed because it is a browser based and managed platform. This ensures there are no software compatibility issues with existing network equipment and computers. Additionally, since eMerge has been designed as a native IP device, there are no new gateways, communication wiring or plug-in hardware adapters to install.
The eMerge system runs on an ODBC compliant object-relational PostgreSQL database with an API designed to have much lower maintenance and tuning requirements than proprietary databases. The database has outstanding scalability and performance. Its SQL implementation strongly conforms to the ANSI-SQL 92/99 standards.
Since eMerge works over a network infrastructure, there are some technical considerations and requirements necessary to allow the security appliance to function seamlessly and reliably across your network and as a part of your total security system.
What are some of the topology issues to keep in mind when deploying and using the eMerge appliance?
The eMerge physical security appliance is all about simplicity and worry-free reliability across your network, so factors to consider in installing the system include wiring and bandwidth requirements, the architecture of your current wired and wireless network, site distances and the number of security resources linked to the appliance.
In the most common setup, and the one that will fit most small organizations, eMerge will share the same local area networking (LAN) resources as the users on the network. This means, the appliance will plug into the network much like a server, network router, or wireless access point and provide physical security services through the corporate LAN. A more secure configuration would have the emerge appliance connected to a separate security LAN and then linked to the corporate LAN through a dedicated router. This setup not only increases the level of security by channeling eMerge functions through a dedicated pipeline, but alleviates any bandwidth issues that may occur in high-traffic or media-rich applications.
What you need to know about the eMerge browser managed security platform
FAQ’s for the Network Administrator
Now Part of
What should I be aware of when using an eMerge Network Expansion Node as part of an eMerge security solution?
eMerge Network Expansion Nodes allow your eMerge security solution to be deployed in the most cost effective manner by making best use of your existing network infrastructure. Additionally, Expansion Nodes allow your system to scale modularly as your security requirements change.
Communication between the eMerge physical security appliance (Network Controller) and its Expansion Nodes can be accomplished securely across the local area network (LAN), wide area network (WAN), or even across the public Internet.
Each message between the eMerge appliance and eMerge Expansion Nodes is encrypted and then authenticated using a unique 160-bit message digest (SHA-1) to ensure security.
In some cases, it may be more cost-effective and desirable to link a series of eMerge Network Expansion Nodes to the eMerge appliance by placing an eMerge Network Node at one end or floor of a site and wire all local system resources to this node. Typically, this configuration is more desirable when extending the security environment across large distances in a building or throughout multiple floors. Important points to keep in mind with this type of layout include:
Reader wiring that exceeds 500 feet (152 meters) will require an additional node to reduce the wire lengths to less than the • maximum allowed by reader standards;
Input or output wiring that exceeds 2000 feet (610 meters) will require additional nodes to reduce the wire lengths and • distance between devices;
The need for dispersed system resources - for example, at both ends of a large building - may require the addition of more• eMerge Network Nodes.
How do eMerge Nodes and the Network Controller use the network?
When an Expansion Node boots, it initially selects for itself a temporary random IP address in the zeroconf address space. The Node then multicasts for a Network Controller at a specific UDP port (7262), and presents a Unique Identifier (UID) to distinguish the Node. A Network Controller then responds to this multicast through the same UDP port 7262, providing its own IP address and presents a unique addressing method for the Node.
There are three IP addressing methods available:
An existing DHCP server on the network can assign IP addresses;a.
A static IP address can be assigned using nnconfig.exe (This application is on the CD provided with the Network Controller);b.
The Network Controller can provide IP addresses to Nodes, but only to specific address ranges.c.
Once a proper IP address for the Node is selected, further communications between the Node and the Network Controller occur directly between their respective IP addresses using TCP port 7262. The Network Controller may also require:
TCP Port 23 for Telnet server access. This can be used for remote support. The Telnet server is disabled by default.• TCP Port 3000 open for communication from video management system inputs• TCP Port 3306 open for PostgreSQL report usage•
FAQ’s for the Network Administrator
Now Part of
How do eMerge Network Expansion Nodes connect to the eMerge appliance across subnets or the public Internet?
Connecting eMerge Expansion Nodes across various subnets or even over the Internet is relatively easy, although there are some important points to remember to make the connections as effective and reliable as possible.
Typically, a subnet may represent all the machines at one geographic location, in one building, or on the same local area network. Subnets connect to the central network through a router, hub or gateway, are defined as all devices whose IP addresses have the same prefix. Addresses within a subnet are reachable without going through a router, and thus can be reached by broadcast.
In installations where Expansion Nodes are on a separate subnet or LAN from the Network Controller, you will have to directly supply the Expansion Node with an IP addressing method and the address of the Network Controller that will manage it. This is because the Expansion Node multicast transmissions and Network Controller responses are usually blocked across subnet boundaries.
Direct addressing of the Expansion Node can be accomplished by using nnconfig.exe (This application is on the CD provided with the Network Controller). Please keep in mind that when communicating across subnets or networks, you must transmit through a router, and this may mean that a port must be opened to allow communication (refer to NetworkPort Usage Table on next page).

OVERVIEW:Hub Manager Professional Software makes programming and operation of Secured Series Access Systems fast and mistake free. It is a powerful and easy-to-use software solution for most applications and takes “Access Control Simplified” to a new level. With its fast and comprehensive management reports, Hub Manager Professional Software meets the needs of the mainstream commercial access control market. With Version 8.0 of Hub Manager Professional Software, IEI provides new features and improved functionality for access control.
Version 8.0 of Hub Manger Professional is included with all IEI Secured Series systems and kits, and with prox.pad Plus series of products and LS2 Series of products. It can also be down-loaded free of charge from the IEI website at http://www.ieib.com/support-software-downloads.html. Version 8.0 is reverse compatible to all pre-existing Secured Series controllers.
Vista CompatibilityWith Windows Vista more prevalent in the marketplace, Version 8.0 of Hub Manager Professional Software will support Windows Vista operating systems, including Vista Home Premium and Vista Business. It also supportsWindows server 2003 and 2008 Standard and Enterprise. The requirements to support the current Windows Vista operating systems are a major enhancement for this version of the software.
Max 3 Output Module SupportedThis version of Hub Manager Professional Software will sup-port programming for the new Max 3 Output Module (M3-OM). The Output Module will add 8 outputs per door. The software will allow you to specify a custom name and timer value for each of the 8 outputs. Any combination of these outputs can be assigned to a user. Applications for this version of the software and the Output Module can include elevator control, handicapped door control, and controlling or triggering a camera or DVR upon a card read or PIN code.
Temporary UsersThe use of Temporary Users is included with this version of the software and the Max 3 v2 controller. With this option you can specify whether or not to grant access to users that are set to ‘Temporary’ status. You can specify the start and stop date of each user individually, thereby granting or denying access to specific users based on date. With this feature, a user will only have access between a start date and a fixed stop date
Access Level Detail ScreenThis version of Hub Manager Professional Software includes enhancements to the Access Level edit screen which now make it easier for you to set up access levels. The Access Level Detail screen in the software follows a logical flow identified with numbered steps. You can assign individual users access levels to specific doors, enabling you to trigger pre- determined outputs for those doors and users. This adds a new level of flexibility to your access control requirements.

Hub Manager Professional Software
Delete User FeatureThe Delete User feature allows you to select specific users and delete them from the system. It allows a user to be completely deleted from the database. This function is useful in installations that are reaching the maximum number of users per site. It also makes large database management easier. The Disable User and Retire User options continue to work as another option.
Expanded Time Management ReportsThe Time Management Report has been expanded to include three types of reports. A Detailed Daily Report shows the de-tailed daily activity of each user and includes the total number of gross and clear time at the end of each day. A Summarized Daily Report only shows the daily total gross and clear time. A Summary Report shows the total gross and clear time for a specified date range. (Gross time is defined as the total amount of time from the first IN event of the day to the last OUT event of the day, including any time between IN and OUT events throughout the course of the day. Clear time is defined as the total amount of time, from the first IN event of the day to the last OUT event of the day, excluding any time between IN and OUT events during the day.)
Selectable Modem RetriesHub Manager Professional 8.0 will now attempt to retry the modem dialing sequence if a connection fails for any reason. You can now define the number of modem retries. The number of redials is set to 3 by default.
Selectable Installation DirectoryVersion 8.0 will allow you to select the drive and folder where you want to install Hub Manager Professional software. This feature allows you to install the program to any location you choose, such as a D drive.
First In Auto UnlockThe First In Auto Unlock feature is useful for applications where a door – such as the main front door of an office – is to remain in the locked state until a designated person – such as the receptionist who monitors that door – comes in. In this scenario, when the receptionist presents their credentials to unlock the front door, that door will remain unlocked until the specified time zone expires (normally at the end of the busi-ness day). This feature allows you to designate which users can trigger a First In Auto Unlock.
DTD Printer SupportThe DTD (Data Transfer Device) Printer utility will include a print button in the software which will allow you to print a log file directly from the program. The saved data can then be viewed on the DTD screen and/or transferred to the PC as a text file. This feature will also enable the DTD to function like an HP Printer with early versions of prox.pad.
Faster Data Communication across IP NetworksThis version of Hub Manager Professional increases the speed of data communications across IP networks. It supports the SEG-M at speeds of 100 Mbps.

Linear eMerge 50P/5000P
Key Features 100% Web user interface supports common browsers
Wizard-driven 5-minute setup from power-up to access card read
Solid state design for years of trouble-free operation
Supports proven eMerge Network Nodes and MicroNodes
Single cabinet design with expansion space for 4 blades
 Supplied external 12VDC power supply
System “landing page” shows full system status at a glance

The Linear eMerge blends advanced capabilities with ease of
configuration and use for small to mid-sized commercial and high end
residential applications. eMerge integrates credential-based access
control, intrusion detection, and video surveillance for a small to mid-
sized facilities. It is part of Linear’s access family, proven over hundreds
of thousands of operating hours in the field.
eMerge family is a 100% IP-based, solid state, web-based network
appliance. Other than terminal connections for access controlled
doors and intrusion detection points, an IP network is all of the
connectivity the system requires. A common web browser provides
all configuration, administrative, and monitoring functions. Solid state
design means no moving parts - and a trouble-free, low maintenance
ownership experience.
eMerge streamlines access control configuration by automatically
locating network connected Network Nodes and MicroNodes on its
local subnet, allowing them to be statically or dynamically addressed.
Wizards then automatically create access control alarms, access levels,
and configuration parameters. By following a few simple steps,
eMerge can be brought from first power-up to the first access card
read in about five minutes.
eMerge is provided in an enclosure that includes the eMerge
controller, one Access Control Module, and space for up to three
additional modules. Available add-on modules support two full
portals (2 readers, 4 inputs, and 4 outputs), eight inputs, eight
outputs, or eight temperature points apiece. Installers can mix and
match blade types to achieve the required mix for their applications.
Further expansion is easily obtained by adding additional nodes or
MicroNodes to a limit of 192 readers*, 512 inputs, and 512 outputs.

OVERVIEW:“PIPs” That’s short for Plug‑in Power Supplies. With these little gems, you won’t waste your time and money installing hardwired transformers, power supply boards, or dedicated power supply cabinets in your next CCTV, security, or access control installation.
Go GREEN! These plug-in power supplies are EISA 2007 compliant with less than ½-watt standby power. They offer excellent efficiency and energy savings compared to the typical transformer/rectifier/regulator designs of the past.
On the input side, these PIPs contain built‑in surge protection to quickly suppress harmful AC line voltage transients and line spikes.
On the output side, these PIPs provide accurate 12‑volt or 24‑volt DC regulation from 0% to 100% load. This is a tremendous bonus that allows these power supplies to be used for low current battery maintaining applications as well as intermittent load and continuous load high current applications.
The lighter weight of these PIPs also saves you on freight!
These DC output PIPs are short‑circuit proof. They contain auto‑resetting poly fuses that protect the supply, and your installer’s reputation. Be sure to carry one of each in your service truck so you’ll be ready the next time some old tired power supply goes down in the field.

OVERVIEW:The Secured Series Max 3 access system with Hub Manager Professional software is a powerful and easy-to-use solution for small to mid-sized applications. The Max 3 system provides a secure and trusted access control system that uses hardware architecture that is based upon the Secured Series HubMax II system. The Max 3 system is available in two cabinet configurations – Max 3 system and MiniMax 3. System expansion is made simple with the modular design of the two available configurations.
Expanded features and functionality are achieved when the system is programmed with the Hub Manager Professional software. The software provides fast and easy setup with its included video tutorials and setup wizards. Communication to the access system hardware from a PC can be either over a LAN/WAN connection or through a RS485 serial connection. Both communication methods are made easy with communication accessories. The SEG-M is a secure TCP/IP adapter and the USB-Serial or the RS232-485 serial adapters make direct PC connection virtually effortless.
All door settings and user information are programmed into the Max 3 door control module (p/n: Max3Mod).

OVERVIEW:The IEI Max 3 Output Module (M3-OM) adds 8 form C control relay outputs to a Max 3 Module. The module enables Secured Series customers to handle a greater number of applications such as elevator control, handi-capped door control, and controlling or triggering a camera or DVR upon a card read or PIN code.
Version 8.0 or higher of Hub Manager Professional Soft-ware is required for the Output Module. The Output Module is compatible with the Max 3 v2 or higher controller.
Using the Max 3 Output Module will allow you to control multiple outputs for each Max 3 system user from any given reader or keypad. Hub Manager Professional software will allow you to specify a custom name and timer value for each of the 8 outputs. Each output can be set to toggle, or for timed operation. Any combination of these outputs can be assigned to a user and the user will trigger these outputs when they gain access.
The Max 3 Output Module installs into and is powered from the Max 3 module. For faster installation and troubleshoot-ing, each Output Module includes power LED and individ-ual relay status LEDs. The Output Module comes packaged with Hub Manager Professional Software, wire harnesses, and mounting hardware.
