Interview: Judaism vs. Christianity Jews and Christians both believe in one God, and their holy writings share many ethnics and themes. Despite their similarities, the two religions have come into conflict over the years. Our members from the Prentice Hall Newspaper interviewed individuals from both religions and here is what they had to say. Both were asked what makes their religion so special.

Interview continued Speaker: A young man who has been taught Judaism all his life:

“In Judaism, we believe in one true God that is present everywhere. In the time of Abraham, God made a covenant with him. In the time of Moses, God gave the Hebrews the Ten Commandments. We believe we are the chosen people he promised to multiply by every generation.”

Speaker: An elderly woman who goes to church every week and is studious in her belief:

“Salvation and eternal life goes to those who follow Jesus. Anyone can be converted and follow in his footsteps. Jesus was the son of God and the Messiah. We also believe in one God. Jesus teachings included mercy and sympathy for whoever prayed unto him.”

The Columbian Exchange A global exchange of people, plants, animals, ideas and technology began during the early 1500s, leading to drastic changes in Asia, the Americas, Africa, and Europe. The Columbian Exchange exported foods, crops and animals back and forth throughout the countries. The negative effect of this caused many diseases to be sent back to the Americas. Diseases and infections including smallpox, measles and typhus affected many of the animals sent and people in the society. For example, the Europeans gave Native Americans disease that they were not immune to. Slaves were also imported, which is morally wrong. Overall, the Columbian Exchange helped the countries keep trade going and socities prospering .

Political Cartoon: The 1989 Chinese leadership was very demanding. China controlled what they felt was needed to build an upright society. The

leadership only based their ideas based upon Mao Zedong and Karl Marx. Others wanted to have freedom of speech.

ObituaryRespect their Lives: Terrorism is the deliberate use of unpredictable violence, especially against civilians, to gain revenge or to achieve political goals. An example of recent use of terrorism have been: Conflicts between extreme groups and modern societies (such as events supported by al Qaeda extremists like the 9/11 attack). We must give moment of silence and peace where ever we are for those who lost a family member or friend in the tragedy. The attacks during 9/11 were wrong. Extremists killed many that day. Always remember that day. R.I.P to all our loved ones in the attack. They are always here spiritually.
