Parent Teacher Association (P.T.A.) Great news: We have a Parent Teacher Association! This is a great thing for the school as it will allow parents to have a say in what happens in the school, will provide links between parents, teachers, children, and the local community and the PTA will develop better relationships between parents and teachers by organizing social events. In fact, the first social event is coming up soon. On Thursday the 21st of October we are holding a Parent, Teacher and Pupil Social Evening from 5:30pm to 7:30pm for all parents, to be held at the Upper School. The evening will begin with an address from myself, followed by a brief gathering with your child’s class teacher, where they will discuss what the children have covered so far this term. Afterwards, the PTA will sell drinks and food in the form of vegetarian and meat barbeques. Please see the reverse advert for more details. The PTA would like more members so if you want your say, please join. Contact myself on [email protected] and/or our Chairman Ed De Gracia on [email protected]. Hand Foot & Mouth Disease Recently we have had cases of HF&M at the First School. Although not very dangerous, it is moderately contagious and spreads easily between small children. If we have 3 or more cases we are obliged to close but we obviously don’t want that! So please check your children for fever, spots in the mouth, on palms of hands and soles of feet, and if your child shows symptoms, do not bring them to school. Basketball The school basketball team has been playing really well so far this term. Although they haven’t managed a win as yet, it is a matter of time. Mr. Kevin and Mr. Strombeck are putting them through their paces and they are all improving enormously. Good luck GIS Eagles. Play Group Lois Jones, our wonderful Early Years teacher is running a weekly class for children aged between 8 months and 2 years every Thursday afternoon from 2.45pm until 3.30pm. The classes are fun, interactive and will help develop your child’s social skills and cognitive development. For more information, please contact reception. Kind regards,
