IT NEWS

IT ZONE – Year 6

Currently in Year 6 we have implemented an optional BYO iPad program for our classroom. This has allowed for the majority of students to have individual access to an electronic learning device. Our present iPad project involves students selecting a country with which they have a family connection and moving through a range of tasks related to that country. The first task involves students using the app Pic Collage to create a poster advertising their country to potential travellers. Next, students use the app Green Screen to record themselves as “Getaway” presenters promoting their country to a target audience. Images are superimposed behind the students to make it look as though they are actually in the country of their choice. After this, students utilize Comic Life to create a visual of their country’s population statistics. Finally students use the app 30 Hands to create an information report slideshow of photos with audio narration over the top. All tasks are placed into the app Book Creator to form an interactive book for assessment. The interactive book is presented to the class as an oral presentation. It’s exciting to think what the learning possibilities are when you incorporate technology into the classroom.
