Dear Families,

What a wonderful week it has been at St Paul’s with our “Show and Share Science Expo” night last Tuesday. I wish to thank Nikki, Lauren and Ayman, as well as Deakin University, for conducting this project with us. I also thank our Deputy Principal, Denham Harvie, with the assistance of our Director of Teaching and Learning, Stephenie Peels, for coordinating the program. As always, our school staff put the students and families before themselves, and made sure they were available to attend the night and we are very grateful to our teachers.

On behalf of the staff and students we wish to particularly thank YOU - the families - for coming along to the “Show and Share Science Expo”. It was a sensational turn out, especially with the chilly weather, and we greatly appreciate your support. The students thoroughly enjoyed sharing their learning and we are very proud of them all. Photos will be in next week’s newsletter.

WORKING BEE The families in this school demonstrate their commitment to the community by pitching in to help wherever they can. Thanks to the families who came along last Saturday and achieved so much - Hall, Jennings, Larkin, Van Kampen, Hooper and Bohun. Thanks also to our staff members, Denham Harvie and Cathie Vermeer, for coming along to lend a hand. Our new playground is delivered, unpacked, stored away and awaits installation!

FATHER’S DAY - DAD’S BIG BREKKIE! We are looking forward to tomorrow morning’s Father’s Day Breakfast - Dad’s Big Brekkie. Classrooms will be open at 8:00am for visitors, and breakfast will be served from 8:25am. THE KELLIE BEAN Coffee Van will be open for purchasing coffee, tea and hot chocolate. We say a HUGE thanks to the members of the P&F that have organised this wonderful community event.

THE PARISH CUP On Monday, 12 September, from 4:00pm - 5:30pm, St Paul’s students will play soccer matches, against St Mary’s Mt Evelyn, at the Monbulk Regional Soccer Facility, 121 Old Emerald Rd. St Paul’s will have a junior team and senior team. These teams will play against a junior team and a senior team from St Mary’s. The canteen will be OPEN with plenty of hot chips and coffee for spectators!! We encourage our families to come along to watch. We thank Andrew Price and a team of parents, for driving this initiative, assisting in strengthening relationships throughout our Parish and wider community.

SCHOOL IMPROVEMENT SURVEYS The 2017 School Improvement Surveys sent home last week are now open with a closing date of Friday 8 September. This process forms a significant part of our commitment to measure the success of our strategic plans for school improvement. This is an anonymous survey that genuinely seeks your feedback on our school across a range of areas. We thank you for completing the survey.

2018 PREP FAMILY ENROLMENT INTERVIEWS - V.I.P. Very Important Prep! Over the past couple of weeks I have met with a most friendly, confident and excited group of 2018 Prep students, and their families. We are very much looking forward to welcoming 14 new Prep students to our community next year. We are still encouraging enrolments, and we know that our reputation is strong. I thank all of our families for driving our strong reputation through word of mouth. Please continue to promote our wonderful community as a school that stands for improving student outcomes, for strong Student Wellbeing practices, for inclusivity and for community connectedness. If you have any friends that are yet to decide on their child’s school, please encourage them to call the office and book a school tour - we know they will love St Paul’s!
