• OTDR identifies the Fiber End as a fibertermination event along with reflection orloss event.

• Automode scan is enhanced with thecomposite trace.

• Fast Span Trace is displayed to the user forquick reference before the composite trace.

• OTDR module can perform Optical ReturnLoss (ORL) measurement.

• Any ongoing scan operation can be cancelled.

• A progress bar is provided to the user foreach scan in the sector that displays thepercentage of execution of the entire scanoperation.

• It is possible to activate automatic scan onORL value exceeding the provisionedthreshold.

• The insertion loss due to amplifier cards andpatchcords is displayed in the OTDRprovisioning panel.

• New OTDR alarms and conditions areintroduced to providemore information aboutthe OTDR functionality.

• Prevention of WSON circuit creation isextended for new OTDR alarms andconditions.

• CTC panes for OTDR provisioning areredesigned for better user experience.

Synchronizing NodeTiming chapter of theCisco NCS 2000 SeriesControl Card and NodeConfiguration Guide

Synchronous Ethernet (SyncE) provides synchronizedtiming to multiple remote network elements (NEs)without using an external circuit for timing. SyncEprovides the required synchronization at the physicallevel and uses the Ethernet SynchronizationMessageChannel (ESMC) to enable traceability of the bestclock source. SyncE clocks are compatible with theclocks used in the SONET or SDH synchronizationnetwork.

SyncE is supported on TNCS and TNCS-O controllercards. You must enable ESMC on an OSC port toconfigure it as a clock source.

Synchronous Ethernet

• NTP-G355Provisioning OTDRfor TNCS-O Cards

Manage the Node

• NTP-G357 PerformOTDR Scan andOTDR Event Scan

• Two types of OTDR scans are available forTNCS-O cards: hybrid scan and fast scan.

When you start a fast scan on a TX or an RXport, an OTDR_FAST_SCAN_INPROGRESS_TX or anOTDR_FAST_SCAN_IN PROGRESS_RXalarm is raised. Fast scan shuts down the OSCchannel.

When you start a hybrid scan on a TX or an RXport, anOTDR_HYBRID_SCAN_IN_PROGRESS_TXor anOTDR_HYBRID_SCAN_IN_PROGRESS_RXalarm is raised. Hybrid scan does not shut downthe OSC channel and takes more time tocomplete.

• New OTDR alarms are introduced to providemore information about theOTDR events. Selectan event to view its details as a graph or in atabular format.

• CTC logs the data of a maximum of 32 historicalOTDR scans. The history is maintained forOTDR scans in the same zone and direction. The values of the back reflection and insertionloss are listed for each scan along with the dateand timestamp.

• Configuring SRLGDiversity

The enhancements include the following:

• Explicit Route Object (ERO) - defines theroute(s) to be used through a list of specifiednodes for a circuit.

• Record Route Object (RRO) - enables the userto obtain a list of used resources.

• SRLG diversity - enables the user to create anew circuit, with resources which are not usedin the reference circuit.

• Node Reference

The split ROADMnode feature allows theROADM node to have separate NetworkElements (NEs) for each line side leadingto the separation of different ROADMdegrees. When a node split is configured, each line side is treated as a separate NE.The whole NE manageability is not lostin case of failure. The legacy ROADMconfigurations can be migrated to splitROADM configurations using CTC andCTP.

OSC Combiner/Splitter ModuleThe FLD-OSC is a passive unit used tocombine the optical service channel (OSC)wavelengths to form the DWDMaggregated signal, or split the OSCwavelengths from the DWDMaggregatedsignal. The passive unit occupies a singleslot in the rack mounting bracket. Thepassive unit is introduced due to theend-of-sale of the OSC-CSM card in theMSTP platform.
