Jokes often use a pattern involving ‘why’ and ‘because’ as they are simple, short, easy to remember and can roll along in a brisk game of, “I can cap that one”. Here are a couple of my favourite ‘Dad’ jokes: Why was the centipede dropped from the insect football team? Because he took too long to put his boots on! Why don't cows have any money? Because farmers milk them dry! Why can't a cow become a detective? Because they refuse to go on ‘steakouts’! Children start to enquire about matters of truth from an early age. They often ask questions for which we have no answer or we would rather not answer the question because it might embarrass us. More credit is gained from an honest answer such as, “I’m sorry, I don’t know the answer to that.” or “That is something that I would rather answer later when you are old enough.” White lies, deflections or blunt refusals are not helpful in the long term. On Tuesday Night I was a guest at the Year 9 Emerge dinner. I was most impressed by the journey that these young people had been on over the past year. This programme assists the students in the process of maturation where, metaphorically speaking, they progress from grub to butterfly as they consider life challenges set before them. They learn, by degrees, to develop resilience and to face their ‘giants’ and deal with them. Those ‘giants’ are invariably different for each student, are very real and need to be put into perspective. On Tuesday night I saw students make speeches that were coherent and meaningful and, for some, first time efforts in front of a group of people. I also saw family and friends gather around students in a show of strength of the mentoring network that will be so important for them in years to come. I also saw the new generation that will take leadership in our community, country and worldwide. I saw much more too that encouraged me to be confident in our future as a nation but more so in the Tyndale way of doing education. I want to compliment Mekayla Rigney on her outstanding speech, both for the way it was constructed and the mature way in which she delivered it. Clearly her support network with her were equally proud of her efforts as she stood with conviction and spoke of her passion for life. This shows how our generation can work together to encourage our children to develop into adults loaded with purpose and a sense of mission. In a Christian School, the reason we work is to serve a higher cause than anything that is of earthly significance. We make no apologies for the fact that we are called to serve the living God who loves us all insanely, warts and all. People like Mrs Bronwyn Hammat and Mr Tim Howard are as aware of this fact as any of us. The time and effort that they have poured into developing the Emerge course has been significant. I wish to thank them for what they have developed as they graciously step away from their labour in this area and hand the baton to Mrs Laura Cameron and Mr Jack Snell. We look forward to them mentoring future generations of Year 9 students in the same vein. There is nothing more difficult to understand than the reason as to why God the Father sent His son, Jesus The Christ to live among us; first as a baby and later as a strapping young man full of intelligence and vibrancy. Let us not forget that he suffered a terrible time on the cross and bore the anger of God. Therefore, with confidence, we can approach God with faith knowing that the son pleads for us so that we can have an open, loving relationship with Him-eternally. That is the greatest ever why and because statement and it’s no joke! Have a Happy and Holy Christmas and I trust and pray that your New Year is a prosperous one. MURRAY BRIDGE

Term 4, Week 8 Newsletter Thursday 8 December 2016

Reasons

One of the first words children learn to use to their

advantage is, “Why” and another other is, “Because”. Jokes

often use a pattern involving ‘why’ and ‘because’ as they

are simple, short, easy to remember and can roll along in a

brisk game of, “I can cap that one”.

Here are a couple of my favourite ‘Dad’ jokes:

Why was the centipede dropped from the insect football

team?

Because he took too long to put his boots on!

Why don't cows have any money?

Because farmers milk them dry!

Why can't a cow become a detective?

Because they refuse to go on ‘steakouts’!

Children start to enquire about matters of truth from an early age. They often ask

questions for which we have no answer or we would rather not answer the question

because it might embarrass us. More credit is gained from an honest answer such as,

“I’m sorry, I don’t know the answer to that.” or “That is something that I would rather

answer later when you are old enough.” White lies, deflections or blunt refusals are not

helpful in the long term.

On Tuesday Night I was a guest at the Year 9 Emerge dinner. I was most impressed by the journey that these young people had been

on over the past year. This programme assists the students in the process of maturation where, metaphorically speaking, they progress

from grub to butterfly as they consider life challenges set before them. They learn, by degrees, to develop resilience and to face their

‘giants’ and deal with them. Those ‘giants’ are invariably different for each student, are very real and need to be put into perspective.

On Tuesday night I saw students make speeches that were coherent and meaningful and, for some, first time efforts in front of a group

of people. I also saw family and friends gather around students in a show of strength of the mentoring network that will be so

important for them in years to come. I also saw the new generation that will take leadership in our community, country and worldwide.

I saw much more too that encouraged me to be confident in our future as a nation but more so in the Tyndale way of doing education.

I want to compliment Mekayla Rigney on her outstanding speech, both for the way it was constructed and the mature way in which she

delivered it. Clearly her support network with her were equally proud of her efforts as she stood with conviction and spoke of her

passion for life. This shows how our generation can work together to encourage our children to develop into adults loaded with purpose

and a sense of mission.

In a Christian School, the reason we work is to serve a higher cause than anything that is of earthly significance. We make no apologies

for the fact that we are called to serve the living God who loves us all insanely, warts and all. People like Mrs Bronwyn Hammat and Mr

Tim Howard are as aware of this fact as any of us. The time and effort that they have poured into developing the Emerge course has

been significant. I wish to thank them for what they have developed as they graciously step away from their labour in this area and

hand the baton to Mrs Laura Cameron and Mr Jack Snell. We look forward to them mentoring future generations of Year 9 students in

the same vein.

There is nothing more difficult to understand than the reason as to why God the Father sent His son, Jesus The Christ to live among us;

first as a baby and later as a strapping young man full of intelligence and vibrancy. Let us not forget that he suffered a terrible time on

the cross and bore the anger of God. Therefore, with confidence, we can approach God with faith knowing that the son pleads for us so

that we can have an open, loving relationship with Him-eternally. That is the greatest ever why and because statement and it’s no joke!

Have a Happy and Holy Christmas and I trust and pray that your New Year is a prosperous one.

Getting to know Your Board

John Haywood - Deputy Board Chair

I am married to Julie, we have been married almost 36 years

we have five children with only one still at school, three

daughter in-laws and four grandchildren which next year will

grow to six!

My interests are spending time with my family, gardening,

sports, and my faith which is a very important part of my life.

My term on the Board has been just over 10 year,

commencing at the beginning of 2016. I was seconded to the

Board in February till the AGM when I was voted on. My

reasons for applying to be a board member was that I felt

that God had called me to be an influence in the direction of

the school. It has had some challenges over the years but

God has always shown His favour and we have seen some

amazing miracles of the Father’s provision, wisdom and His

love for our School.

Julie and I have been involved at Tyndale as parents for the

past 22 years when our oldest son started in Year 8.

My vision for the school is to have a strong Christian, faith

filled influence in our community showing the love of God to

all, to be a light that will draw people to the School and to

show the love of God to the staff , students and parents of

our community and afar. We have been blessed so much as a

School and to be able to use our experiences to help others

within the Christian school sector.

The challenge “ Dare to dream and then Dare to believe

that God will give you the desires of your heart.”

AMBULANCE VISIT TO YEAR 1 CLASS

The Year 1 class had a visit from Michael Barr and Paul Sharp,

who are local paramedics. Michael is also the father of Larah

in the Year 1 class. This was a very rewarding time as the

children were able to observe an ambulance and its

equipment, learn about the work of a paramedic, and ask lots

of questions as well. Sincere thanks to Michael and Paul for

visiting our school.

After the visit, the Year 1 children discussed other types of

ambulances, such as helicopters, aeroplanes and

hovercrafts. The children used recycled materials to create

designs around their thinking
