Here you will find another fantastic result of King Ludwig II's vivid imagination. The Royal Castle of Herrenchiemsee is a replica of the Palace of Versailles and was the biggest, most expensive and final castle of King Ludwig II. After your tour of The Royal Castle of Herrenchiemsee, you will travel by boat to the island of Fraueninsel. This is one of the most beautiful places in Bavaria and boasts an ancient monastery at the centre of the island. Wander through the scenic German countryside on your way to the legendary extravagance of the German castles Neuschwanstein and Linderhof. Known for their elaborate construction and world-famous architecture, these two extraordinary structures were dreamed up by Germany's own Ludwig II. You'll soon find out why many believe Neuschwanstein inspired Disney's storybook castles - get ready to feel like you're living a real-life fairy tale. Hidden in the seclusion of the mountains, German King Ludwig II built two of his dream castles: Neuschwanstein and Linderhof. Both testify to the vision of Bavaria's fairy-tale King. Residence The Residence, often called the heart of Bavaria, was home to the dukes, electors and kings of Bavaria for half a millennium. Join this tour and see the most beautiful rooms of the Residence. Nymphenburg Palace and Park When Henriette Adelaide, wife of Prince Elector Ferdinand Maria of Bavaria, finally gave birth to the long-awaited heir to the throne in 1633, her husband presented her with a large plot outside the Munich city gates. This is where Nymphenburg Palace was built, summer residence of the Wittelsbach family and birth place of the fairy tale King Ludwig II.
