Features

Why is a Laboratory Revolution on the Way?Are you frustrated with agarose gel electrophoresis?

Smiling and adjacent ladder patterns indicate only approximate size

Agarose provides lower sensitivity and it is hazardous with ethidium bromide staining

Data management is tedious

Numerous manual operations take up too much time and effort

It takes too long to get any data

Precast gels are expensive

With Shimadzu’s renowned microchip technology, a new electrophoresis analysis platform provides an alternative to address your problems with agarose gel electrophoresis.

Yes, MultiNA!!

Feature 1Lower Analysis CostsA sophisticated reusable microchip achieves lower running costs for consumables per analysis than agarose gel electrophoresis. (*1) Based on list price in Japan markets, Shimadzu calculations indicate costs of 25 yen ( US 0.20*) per DNA analysis and 35 yen per RNA analysis ( US 0.30*). (*1): Shimadzu survey comparison results of list prices of commercial products.

Feature 2Greater SpeedHigh-speed automatic operation for up to 120 analyses (*2)

75 seconds/analysis cycle time (*3)

Simply set up the samples and the separation buffer for automated analysis of up to 120 samples. Up to four microchips can be placed for parallel processing of analysis pretreatment and electrophoresis, resulting in a cycle time of just 75 seconds per analysis. (*2) An analysis schedule can include up to 120 samples while the instrument can accept a maximum of 108 samples (96 + 12 extra). (*3) For DNA standard analysis (DNA-1000 kit/premixed) using four microchips. The 75 seconds/analysis cycle time does not include time required for carrying out the first wash, final wash and initial analysis.

Feature 3High Sensitivity DetectionThis instrument is equipped with a LED-excited fluorescence detector. Its approximately 10 times more sensitive than ethidium bromide staining (based on Shimadzu’s own study)

Feature 5Outstanding Ease of UseThe control and viewer software provides a refined GUI that makes analysis operation extremely simple. First make an analysis schedule, and then simply load the reagents and samples into the instrument and click the [Start] button on the screen to start the analysis. A wide variety of useful functions enables users to perform analysis schedule design and data processing more quickly and simply.

Feature 4High Resolution and High ReproducibilitySelect the proper separation buffer that suits the sample. Internal lower and upper markers in the reagent kit ensures high analysis reliability and reproducibility.

Analysis Procedures

Analysis Procedures

1Run the MultiNA control software on the PC and simply click the appropriate wells. You can then register the sample sheet in the analysis schedule.

3Place the microchips and the prepared samples and reagents on their prescribed positions in the instrument.

4 Click the [Start] button on the PC.

2 Prepare the samples and reagents.

Leave the rest up to the instrument. All operations are handled automatically,

including separation buffer filling, sample applying, electrophoresis detection,

microchip washing, and data analysis.

MultiNA Control & Viewer Software

MultiNA Control & Viewer SoftwareSize markers automatically correct electrophoresis results for automatic size prediction and quantitation. Moreover, users can perform either automatic or manual reanalysis of their data. Even if analysis of all samples is not yet finished, analysis results of completed samples can be confirmed. Confirm current operating status with a quick glance at the softwares well status display, analysis schedule list, and chip status display. The separation electropherogram is displayed in real time of the analysis. Extensive operation and maintenance functions are provided, including analysis performance check functions.User-friendly data processing functions handle importing sample sheets and exporting analysis data in CSV format.
