Stewardship

A Way of Life

This Week’s Readings

“Be on guard,” Jesus warns in today’s gospel, “lest your spirits become bloated with indulgence.” Let us heed His warning and follow the advice of St. Paul, conducting ourselves in a way pleasing to God, overflowing with love for one another.

In Living Stewardship

We are grateful this week for all stewards in our parish who embrace Stewardship by recognizing God as the origin of life, the giver of freedom, the source of all they have and all they are.

5 FIRST SUNDAY OF ADVENT

Principal’s

Announcements

~The 1st Week of Advent~

Jesus, be our Hope!

Lord, our God, we praise you for your Son, Jesus Christ: He is Emmanuel, the HOPE of all people. He is the wisdom that teaches and guides us. He is the Savior of every nation. Lord God, let your blessings come upon us as we pray this Advent. May our prayers be a sign of our faith to You. We ask this through Christ, our Lord. Amen. During Advent, the students will be performing good deeds and acts of kindness. After a good deed or kind act is completed, students will write it on a Post-It Note and place it on a poster displayed in the school. At the end of each week of Advent, the Post-It Notes will be placed in the school’s crèche, creating the bedding for the Baby Jesus with the student’s good deeds and acts of kindness. Please join me on Wednesday, December 5th at 9:00 a.m. for our monthly school liturgy. The 8th grade is hosting the Mass. It is a 12-noon dismissal. The Mothers’ Club is hosting Breakfast with Santa in the Carlin Dining Hall on Saturday, December 8th for the Kindergarten children at 9:15 a.m. and first grade children at 9:30 a.m. Parent-Teacher Conferences are scheduled for Thursday, December 13th and Friday, December 14th. The app, Teacher Reacher, will be used to schedule conferences. May hope dwell in our hearts this First Week of Advent!

Mrs. Cecilia St. John Principal

St. Agnes Parish

Outreach

We are once again collecting new

Christmas toys for the needy children of

our parish. All donations may be dropped off at the

Outreach Office. In addition, what might be most

useful and practical for teenagers would be gift cards

to Old Navy, Best Buy, Modell’s, Target, Kohls and

Payless Shoes. Also, in families where there is

sickness or unemployment or single moms, gift cards

to King Kullen are most appreciated. Your kindness

will make this a much brighter Christmas for those in

need.

Love, Sr. Kathleen

Flowers for the Cathedral

and the Homebound

You will notice that in your packet of contribution envelopes, there is an envelope for flowers for Christmas. In addition to using this collection to decorate the Cathedral for Christmas, we would like to send a poinsettia plant to all our ill and homebound parishioners. Many of these people have worshipped in the Cathedral for years and are now confined to their homes. Your generous response to this collection will help to defray the cost of flowers and plants. If you know of anyone who is ill or homebound, please call the rectory at 766-0205 with the name, address, and phone number of the person.

Religious Retirement

Collection

Next weekend there will be a special collection for Religious Retirement. Elderly Catholic sisters, brothers, and religious order priests need your help. Many served for years in Catholic schools, hospitals, and parishes—often for little to no pay. Now there is a shortage in retirement savings. Your gift to the Retirement Fund for Religious provides funding for medications, nursing care, and more. Please give to those who have given a lifetime.

Communion

Under Both Species

In the coming weeks, we will have two chalices available at the 8:00 a.m., 9:30 a.m.. and 11:00 a.m. Sunday Masses. The stations for these chalices will be in the front of the Cathedral. As you may know, we have been

offering four chalices at these Masses. This change has been necessitated by not having enough Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion to cover all the assignments in the three week cycle of scheduling. Please know that anyone who feels they are being called to this ministry should speak to Father Bill. We are most grateful for those who do serve as Extraordinary Ministers as well as everyone who serves at our Masses.
