As we move back into the Cathedral after these many months, I would like to thank the parishioners who helped facilitate
the parking at our outdoor Masses. They did a tremendous job and helped so many of us to gather at Mass. I thank our readers and I give a special thanks to John Atwell for providing the beautiful tent that was used and gave our altar such prominence.

Stewardship
A Way of Life
Stewardship Reflection
“Do not forget the LORD, your God.” May these words from today’s First Reading inspire us to always have faith in our loving God.
Living Stewardship . . . Pillar of Formation
For a long time, we have been unable to receive our Lord Jesus Christ in the Eucharist. Let us remember how, during the lockdown and suspension of Masses, we have yearned to receive the Body and Blood of Christ. May that time of isolation renew our Faith in the Real Presence!

Supporting Our Parish
In these challenging times, special gratitude is expressed to those who are able to support St. Agnes Cathedral Parish. Please know that one can give electronically through Faith Direct. Faith Direct is a fast, secure, simple way to make your contributions. Visit www.faithdirect.net to register. Our Faith Direct Parish code is NY239. The Diocese of Rockville Centre has also created an alternative way for you to give to your parish, via Text-to-Give. You can text your parish keyword to 1(516) 271-3338. Our Parish Code: 050; Keyword for Parish Offertory: 050parishstagnes.
In addition to using the U.S. mail, a gift can also be put through the mail slot in the rectory door. (Out of security concerns we are unable to leave a donation box in the cathedral.)
Regardless, however, of the financial support that one can give, we ask for your continued prayers. As we have in the past, by coming together we will overcome our present challenges.
5 THE MOST HOLY BODY AND BLOOD OF CHRIST
From the Rector —
Dear Parishioners: As you may know, Governor Cuomo announced this past Saturday that Phase 2 of the easing of Covid19 restrictions would include Churches and Houses of Worship. I am pleased to say that Phase 2 began in Nassau and Suffolk Counties, on Wednesday, June 10th and we are, therefore, able to gather in the Cathedral for Mass. At the same time, however, because of the need to sanitize the Cathedral between Masses, we have had to alter our regular Mass schedule. Please see the following information regarding this revised schedule as well as the precautions that we must take as we gather once again for the Sacraments. It is with the desire that we gather reverently, safely and legally that I bring this information to you.
3. We ask that everyone (except for those who need to use the handicap door) enters the Cathedral through the doors on Quealy Place. You are asked, as you enter the Church, to keep a six foot distance from the person in front of you. A special team of ushers will assist you in finding a seat. For safety and order, a person will not be able to choose a specific seat.
4. Per state regulations gatherings cannot exceed 25% of occupancy and take into account social distancing of 6 feet between people or households. This means approximately 4 people in every 3rd pew with an occupancy of approximately 225 people.
5. Once we reach our occupancy limit, we will not be able to admit others. Your charity, cooperation and understanding are greatly appreciated.
6. Except for children under the age of 2 or people with breathing difficulties, a face mask or other facial covering must be worn in church. Please provide your own mask. We also encourage you to bring a bottle of hand sanitizer.
7. Holy Communion will be distributed at the conclusion of Mass. Those receiving will approach row by row (keeping a six foot safe distance from the person in front of you) and those not receiving are asked to leave at this time. Whether receiving or not, please leave quietly and reverently through the door to which you are directed by an usher.
8. It is preferred that Communion at this time be received in one’s hand. Please place your hand out very straight and flat to allow the minister to place the Eucharist safely in your hand in order to avoid contact with your hand. 9. The Sacrament of Reconciliation will resume normal scheduling starting this week. Please keep social
distancing in mind if there is a line for confession. 10. Upon exiting the Church, please do not congregate near the doors of the church. 11. Due to sanitary concerns, the bathrooms in the Cathedral will not be available. Please plan accordingly. 12. For safety reasons, the hymnals have been removed from the Church. There will be no entrance, offertory or
recessional procession. The Sign of Peace as well as the ministering of the Precious Blood will continue to be suspended. Holy Water fonts will remain empty; however, the Holy Water dispenser is available for those wishing to bring Holy Water home with them.
We look forward to coming together to celebrate the Eucharist again. Thank you in advance for your cooperation and patience during this time.
Sincerely yours,
Father Bill

Book
Mass Intentions for 2021 are now available. Due to the restrictions imposed upon us because of COVID-19, we will be handling the scheduling of Mass Intentions a little differently than in the past. We will be accepting 4 Mass Intention requests for 2021 per person and ask that you mail your requests to the Rectory (29 Quealy Place, Rockville Centre, New York 11570), along with your offering of $20, for each Mass requested. Please make checks payable to “St. Agnes Cathedral.” The Mass Intentions will be reserved on a first-come, first-served basis. You can also place your requests in the mail slot of the Rectory front door. We will not be able to take any requests over the telephone or by email. We will not be able to issue Mass Cards at this time. Be sure to include your name, address, telephone number and email address along with your request and we will send you confirmation of the dates that have been secured for your intentions. TO THE PRIESTHOOD ON JUNE 20, 2020 ROCKVILLE CENTRE, NEW YORK – May 29, 2020 – On June 20, 2020, the Memorial of the Immaculate Heart of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Most Reverend John O. Barres, Bishop of Rockville Centre, will ordain two men to the priesthood for the Diocese of Rockville Centre. The Mass of Priestly Ordination will take place at St. Agnes Cathedral, Rockville Centre, at 10:00 a.m. on that day. The ordination will air live on Catholic Faith Network (CFN) at 10:00 a.m. It will be replayed later that evening at 8:00 p.m. At the time of this press release, pursuant to New York State Executive Order, religious gatherings of more than ten people is prohibited. As of the date of this release, this ordination will, unfortunately, not be open to the public. For the safety of all, only a limited number of individuals deemed integral to the celebration of the Ordination Mass will be permitted inside the Cathedral. If a subsequent Executive Order affecting public gatherings for religious services is enacted that impacts the celebration of this Mass, the Diocese will issue an updated statement. Please visit www.drvc.org and Diocese of Rockville Centre social media (Facebook, Twitter and Instagram) for updates. Those being ordained are the Rev. Mr. Rafal Borowiejski and the Rev. Mr. John Crozier. The newly ordained priests will be assigned to parishes in the Diocese of Rockville Centre where they will both serve in the role of associate pastor.
Congratulations to our own Deacon John Crozier, a graduate of St. Agnes Cathedral School, Kellenberg Memorial High School, St. John’s University and a St. Agnes parishioner. He will celebrate his first Mass on Sunday, June 21st, here at St. Agnes Cathedral.

“We cannot tolerate or turn a blind eye to racism and exclusion in any form and yet claim to defend the sacredness of every human life.” Today I join the Church in Saint Paul and Minneapolis, and in the entire United States, in praying for the repose of the soul of George Floyd and of all those others who have lost their lives as a result of the sin of racism. Let us pray for the consolation of their grieving families
and friends and let us implore the national reconciliation and peace for which we yearn. May Our Lady of Guadalupe, Mother of America, intercede for all those who work for peace and justice in your land and throughout the world.” — Pope Francis - June 3, 2020

9 THE MOST HOLY BODY AND BLOOD OF CHRIST
“United with Christ we are never alone, but we form a single Body, of which He is the Head.”
-Pope Francis
The Diocese of Rockville Centre is here to serve those in need. As Covid-19 attacks our island, as a faith community we are fighting back – implementing New York State’s emergency guidelines as our ministries continue serving vulnerable neighbors across Long Island. Our ministries are responding to the crisis in incredible ways:
Providing enhanced and expanded homecare services to those who were cared for in congregate day care programs which are now closed;
Expanding our Meals-On-Wheels programs;
Providing shopping services to those who are most vulnerable to the Pandemic;
Assisting the underserved to get much needed internet service so that children can continue their education and parents can work from home.
Keeping the outreach operations at our
parishes strong for existing and new families who
are struggling in their respective
communities;
If you or a family member is in need of assistance, please contact Catholic Charities helpline
at (516) 733-7045.
A gift to the Catholic Ministries Appeal helps to support programs that bring love and care to those who are in need. Your support to the Appeal will help to ensure that our shared vision for Dramatic Missionary Growth in our Diocese will have a firm
financial foundation.
Please consider donating to the Appeal
and making a difference in someone’s life.
Thank you!
