Wing wtw extension - background

• Need affirmed by 1995-97 Drought

• Planning application prepared and submitted in 2000 for a 90 Ml/d extension to the wtw capacity with environmental assessment to challenge the impact of abstraction on affected European sites

• Appropriate Assessment required under the Habitats Regulations by Natural England & Rutland County Council. (Planning Authority)

• Planning permission withheld due to “adverse impact upon Rutland Water SPA, Ramsar and SSSI sites”

• Advice that AWS should consider ‘mitigation measures’ to be able to secure planning permission

• Planning application for WTW re submitted and planning application for Habitats Creation Work submitted 2005 and approved 2007
