2017 Moolah® Shrine PotentateDean Isbell

Nobles,

We are off to a “HOT” summer and the activities will not be slowing down much at Moolah. Check this edition of the Camels’ Tales for upcoming events.

First Lady Kim would like to thank all the volunteers, contestants and audience members for helping make the 2017 edition of Macho Ma-nia a phenomenal success. Kim will announce the final results at the July Stated Meeting.

About the time you are reading this, Imperial Session will be hap-pening in Daytona, FL. And hopefully, our own Gale Bennington has been elected as Imperial Outer Guard. There are no real exciting issues on the Call for this year. The items that would have the most impact on Moolah have to do with voting on new members.

Central States will be in Overland Park, KS this year. You should have registered by now but if you haven’t, please call the office immediately and we’ll work to get you signed-up. CSSA is always a fun time and this year will not disappoint.

The Sportsman’s Raffle is off to a good start but we have much more work to do to make it a tre-mendous success. The raffle will be held on July 29th from 2:00 to 5:00 in the Ballroom with over-flow going to the Oasis and patio areas. This is a Temple event and your help is needed in selling tickets before the raffle and to help during the event. If you can help that day please let the office know and we will find you an assignment.

It is time to start getting your candidates ready for the Fall Ceremonial which will be on Octo-ber 21st. Details and timing of the day’s activities will be coming soon but we do know that we will end the day with a celebration of our new Nobles in the form of a Pub Crawl. There will be tremendous prizes given that night for various categories, not the least of which is the coveted U/C/C Pub Crawl Champion trophy. Remember to tell your new members that they, their ladies and friends and family are invited as our special guests to the Pub Crawl.

The Pub Crawl theme is “Around the World” and the Units/Clubs/Committee (U/C/C) should pick a country (real or fictional) whose name starts with the first letter of the U/C/C name. The U/C/C’s are asked to have their rooms open and decorated in the theme of that country. I expect that there may be some “creative license” taken and that is fine. Let’s have fun with it. Please decide on your country and write a brief, hopefully entertaining, description of your room and theme as well as a description of your U/C/C function or mission at Moolah. These will be printed in a “Passport” that all Pub Crawlers will receive and bring around to be stamped in each room. At the end of the evening we will re-assemble in the Oasis to determine winners and hand out prizes.

We will have a Trunk or Treat on Friday, October 27th. If you would like to participate with a Trunk, please call the office and let them know so we can get you on the list. There will be prizes award-ed for the top 3 trunks.

Thank you for all you do and have a great rest of your Summer.

Yours in the Faith,

Illustrious Sir Dean Isbell

No matter where you plan on going next, you will take you with you. If you have some point of transition, you will be the same in that new job, getting married, having a child, a second child, a third child, moving, any expectation of a differ-ence with that transition really boils down to making a change with you. If you are broke with your current job, getting a better job with better pay without really looking at your spending habits with your current income, you most likely will be just as broke with a job with more income. If you move to get away from strug-gles, more than likely you will have the same struggles at the next place you live if you don’t look at you, and making some changes.

James, Jesus’s brother says, after Jesus was crucified, and resurrected, we need to more than just merely listen the word. Back in the time when James wrote this scripture most people could not read, but would go and listen to people preach-ing scripture that could read. So, James is basically saying that going to church on Sundays, or just reading the Bible without application is like putting lipstick on a pig. A pig will always be a pig, no matter what you do to the pig.

Getting our hair right, or clothing right, has far less impact on our direction in life, or leading a meaningful life, than improving our behaviors to live like Jesus taught us to live.

The true purpose of church is not to make you feel bad about your sins, but to hopefully to make a change. Jesus has died for all of our sins, past, present, and future. That should make you feel a little better if you have never heard that be-fore, but that does not give us the green light to sin continuously.

Looking in the mirror requires a response, or that something needs to be done. Going to church, or reading scripture should require the same response.

Shriners International In Memoriam

Jack H. JonesImperial Potentate July 9, 2009 - July 8, 2010Imperial Recorder 1979-2009 and 2010-2017

February 8, 1932- April 27, 2017

OFFICE OF THE IMPERIAL POTENTATE Tampa, Florida

To the Representatives of Shriners International, Potentates of Subordinate Temples and the Nobility of the Order:

He walked through life and left his impress there; He still lives on in ways we cannot know.

His love of life and living is not lost; His spirit carries on in those he loved, And reaches out to touch humanity.

A heritage continuing through the years.

Jack H. Jones, who served Shriners International at the national level for many years, including as Imperial Recorder at the time of his death, passed away on April 27, 2017.

Imperial Sir Jones was a native of Dalton, Georgia, and a resi-dent of Florida for 48 years. While serving with the Air Force, he attended the University of Southern Mississippi and the University of Tampa, where he majored in business administration.

Jack personified what it means to be a Mason and a Shriner, and worked tirelessly to strengthen the Masonic family. He served Shriners International as corporate director of member-ship development, Imperial Recorder for more than 35 years, and as executive vice president for five years. He also led us as Imperial Potentate for the 2009-2010 term. In 2006, he received the Award of Merit, the highest tangible honor that can be be-stowed on a Shriner.

Imperial Sir Jones traveled extensively on behalf of Shriners International, and attended many different Masonic events as a representative. Every year since 1982, he attended the Conference of Grand Masters of North America where he served as MC at the Frank S. Land Memorial Breakfast. He was very proud that Shriners International had sponsored this event for more than 50 years.

Imperial Sir Jones received several Masonic awards, including the Benjamin Franklin Medal from the Grand Lodge of Pennsylvania; the Henry Price Medal from the Grand Lodge of Massachusetts; the Andrew Jackson Medal from the Grand Lodge of Tennessee; and The Distinguished Service Award from the Grand Lodge of New York (posthumously). He was an emeritus member of the DeMolay International Supreme Council and a recipient of the DeMolay Grand Cross and DeMolay Legion of Honor. He was elected honorary Grand Master of DeMolay International in 2009. He was also a recipient of the Knights Templar Grand Cross, and is a 33rd degree Scottish Rite Mason Inspector General Honorary, and received the Grand Cross of Honor, awarded by the Scottish Rite Supreme Council of Freemasonry, Southern Jurisdiction. Imperial Sir Jones’ Masonic affiliations include Egypt Shriners, Hillsborough Lodge #25 F. & A.M., Tampa York Rite, Tampa Scottish Rite, Red Cross of Constantine, Order of Quetzalcoatl, Royal Order of Jesters and National Sojourners.

In addition to his years of impeccable service and leadership lo his fraternity, and his many accolades and achieve-ments in both Masonry and Shriners International, what we will also always remember is his exemplary character. Imperial Sir Jones was gracious and kind to everyone, and always had time for anyone who needed him. He was consistently and relentlessly positive as he faced the many challenges of life and leadership. We will honor him by remembering his example, and doing our best to live into it.

Imperial Sir Jones leaves behind two sons, Steve (and his wife, Sue), and Brian; four grandchildren, Jerod, Jessica, Valerie, and Ryan; and one great grandchild, Owen.

It is eternity now. I am in the midst of it. It is abollt me in the sunshine; I am in it, as the butterfly in the light-laden air. Nothing has to come; it is now. Now is eternity; now is the immortal life. His many friends throughout Shriners International join with the Imperial Potentate in expressing sincere condolences to his loved ones at his parting.

There was a friend whose heart was good. He walked with men and understood.

He was a voice that spoke to cheer, And felt like music on the ear.

He was a smile men loved to see; He was a hand that asked no fee For friendliness or kindness done.

And now that he has journeyed on, His is a fame that never ends -

He leaves behind uncounted friends. ES SELAMU ALEIKUM

One last word on Macho Mania...Thank you all for the countless hours in making Macho Mania a HUGE Suc-cess! All that attended enjoyed themselves with the amusing entertainment that the candidates provided, the great food and drink, the festive decorations, and all the great auction items that were donated & purchased.

We had many visitors to the event! Over 300 tickets were sold and plenty of last minute tickets were purchased, resulting in us adding more tables the day of the event. We had 4 Masonic/Shrine Petitions received that eve-ning and hopefully other visitors found some interest in Shrinedom as well!

I’m very grateful to Radio Personality Katy Kruze for serving as the MC for the evening! We had a plethora of silent auction items that were donated that we literally thought we had too many for them to earn a decent return, but the items generated a great return! Thank you to all of the Volunteers who helped in planning the event before and the night of the event! I’m very thankful to our candidates that put themselves out there to represent their groups and provide us much amuse-ment and laughter! We had terrific support from all the units, clubs, and committees regardless of whether they had a candidate or not! Thank you to all the sponsors of Advertisements in the Ad Book and all of the wonderful donations of Silent Auction items!

Also, I would like to thank Administrator/Illustrious Sir Gale Bennington, the wonderful Moolah office staff Lauren Schaefer, Monica Smith, Patricia Dodd, the guys Rob, Nick, Mike and Zach!

My hope for this event was to make more than the last Macho Mania and to be able to make enough to be able to add a tangible improvement to the Build-ing. Almost every category exceeded the 2011 totals and even after the event we still received some significant donations! Please come to the July Stated Meeting on July 19th, when I will announce how much was made at Macho Mania. Thank you for attending the event, and I hope you had fun!

Thank you for all you do to support Moolah!

Kim IsbellMoolah First Lady 2017

If I have omitted anyone else from this list, I thank you too!!

Imperial Sir Claypool appointed Imperial Recorder of Shriners International

Thursday, May 11, 2017

Imperial Sir Charles A. “Tad” Claypool has been appointed to serve as Imperial Recorder of Shriners International following the unexpected passing of Imperial Sir Jack H. Jones, who served in that capacity for more than 35 years. Imperial Sir Claypool served as Imperial Potentate of Shriners International from 2002 to 2003, and is an emeritus member of the Board of Trustees of Shriners Hospitals for Children.

Imperial Sir Claypool will serve as a member of the Boards of Directors of Shriners International and Shriners Hospitals for Children until his successor is elected at the 2017 Imperial Session of Shriners International, to be held in Daytona Beach, Florida, in July. He will not be a candidate for that office in that election.

“Imperial Sir Tad has a great deal of experience in working on the boards of the fraternity and the charity,” said Imperial Potentate Chris Smith. “His selection was the result of a consensus of the current members of those boards.”

Claypool’s appointment is effective immediately. He will promptly begin work on preparations for credentialing, the call and the conduct of business at the 2017 Imperial Session of Shriners International.

“I am honored to have been selected to serve as Imperial Recorder,” said Claypool. “Having served with Imperial Sir Jack Jones for a number of years, I understand the importance of succeeding him for the remainder of his term.”

More information on the 2017 Imperial Session of Shriners International can be found at imperial2017.com.

The American Muscle Unit is proud to have our own Greg Martin chosen as the May Shriner of the Month. Congratulations, Greg, and thank you for all your efforts on our behalf. Unfortunately, we will be losing Greg later this year when he re-locates to Georgia to pursue a new employment opportunity. Greg, you will be missed.

The American Muscle Unit coordinated another BBQ event for our veterans at Jefferson Barracks on Saturday, May 27th, Memorial Day Weekend. The Unit conducted the BBQ in conjunction with our good friends from the Smoking Nobles Unit (who cooked the pork steaks), YOMO and The Widow's Sons (who helped serve the food), and Bonhomme Lodge # 45 (who provided funding for the pork steaks). The BBQ was a huge success. The Brothers served pork steaks, brats, ham-burgers, cole slaw, potato salad, macaroni salad, drinks, and many different desserts to well over a hundred grateful veterans and hospital staff. A big “Thank You” to all the people who participated.

The American Muscle Unit is still selling tickets for our annual gun raffle, the proceeds being used to finish building our 4th Flying Carpet parade vehi-cle. This year's prize is a Mossberg shotgun with 2 barrels (one hunting barrel, one tactical). The raffle tickets are available from any Unit member for $5 each or a book of 5 for $20.

The American Muscle unit will be participating in several parades later this year. If you have a muscle car that you would like to show and parade, join us! If you do not have a muscle car but would like to drive one of the Unit's Flying Carpets, join us! The American Muscle Unit meets the second Wednesday of every month at 6:30 pm in the Unit Room we share with the Hospital Committee. We hope to see you there!

The Ambassadors started the summer in grand style with a wonderful Ladies Spring Party. We honored all the ladies. They do so much in sup-port of all the Shrine Activities, it was an honor well deserved. Our luncheon was a great suc-cess, and a special thanks to the past potentates and divan members for their attendance.

PLEASE NOTE: The Ambassadors will be dark in July and August.

Stated meetings will be held. Please attend to catch up on all the Moolah news.

The next Ambassador lunch will be on Friday, September 8, in the Oasis Room. At all of our regular meetings we will continue to have our popular open bar and our three drawings: the 50/50, free dinner and jackpot. You may be a winner but you won’t have a chance if you do not attend. Ambassadors, you are missing a great time, if you do not attend our meetings. .

Please watch the Camels’ Tales for information about all of the Moolah activities. Information about all Ambassador Events will come to you through the Camels’ Tales, email, or word of mouth. For luncheon reservations call or email Wally Bowman at [email protected] or call him at 636-938-6915.

Ambassadors ChantersAmbassadorsArab PatrolMarching 48 Unit Band

There comes a time in life when the future seems too compressed, giving weigh to more mundane activities. A period in life we know as retirement. NOT SO WITH ONE OF OURS! For example, one of our most senior Chanters, Nobel Jack Stoessel works in the Moolah office, attends all Chanter rehearsals and meetings, and helps guide us thru the honorable way to do for The Shrine, what should and needs to be done. He guides the young Chanters through the Moolah/Shrine way. Jack and his beautiful Lady Shirley exemplify that ingredient we need to prosper. The Shrine and life need more knowledgeable and trustworthy citizens like them. And their son, Nobel Dan Stoessel falls right in there as one of our Chanters that serves wherever and whenever needed.

Talking assets and service, brings to mind that we Chanters perform in such venues as nursing homes, churches, funerals, anyone in need of song. The blending of our voices in such harmonic and melodious tones brings pleasure to the ear as well as some peace to those with a grieving heart. Ye of little faith might think this is laying it on just a little thick...then engage us, then listen, then judge.

There are several other Chanters who serve Moolah everywhere and anywhere they’re needed.

Such a Chanter is our Nobel Jim Gesell. Let’s track whence He (Jim) serves:AMERICAN MUSCLE..........Secretary CHANTERS.............................Secretary and Choral ConductorHOSPITAL COMMITTEE...Secretary TCAA.......................................1st Vice President

...and let’s not forget Jims’ sterling performance in Macho Mania last May. What a trooper?? With legs of a...How can one best describe perfection! That’s a Nobel who serves!!! Were all of us to serve as Jim, would we not lift MOOLAH to new heights? Jim, thank you for your splendid service...and those legs!!!

Let’s talk next month. Good serving and God bless.

Hello, from your Moolah Band:

Moolah Shriners Community Band had the privi-lege to play a concert May 23 honoring a fifty-year member of the Band, and a former conductor, HowardFunck. Howard is currently undergoing therapy for Alzheimer’s but recognized many of us, and thoroughly enjoyed our performance for him and the other residents of Gardenview Care Center in O’Fallon, MO. While we were honoredto perform this concert, we are humbled by his service to the Band and the St. Louis musical com-munity. Thank you, Howard, for all you have done.

The Band is now in full concert mode, playing a concert a week throughout the the summer and into autumn. We are proud to represent Moolah Temple and spread the word of Shriners Hospitals to many who are unaware of the mission of the hospitals.

As always, we are looking for new players. How about giving us a try and pick up your long-un-used instrument and join us? We are asking any Noble who has played before to join us as we prepare for our Centennial Year in 2019. We need any and all Nobles to help, so consider us and do the things you used to love, and help spread the message of Shriners Hospitals.

Come see us on Wednesday nights at 7:30 and rekindle the fun you had when you were in the school band. If you need any information, please give me a call or e-mail and I will answer any questions you may have.

Also, remember we are a community band, so if your child or grandchild, or you significant other plays an instrument, he or she is welcome to play in the Band. We meet Wednesday evenings at 7:30 to practice. Our concerts are mainly Wednesday nights at 7:00, and on some Tuesdays.

We would love to have you participate with us.

We always leave ‘em smiling!

Director: Rick Gwydir 314-504-1091Drum Major: David Glenn 314-560-4431By Jim Hubeli The Drum Corps made its annual trip to Belleville to take part in the Ainad Circus Parade on Friday night June 2. We had good participation and filled all the seats on our Love to the Rescue trailer. Of course we got to the lineup spot early which you are supposed to do. We did kill some time by practicing our itinerary of tunes called GMBS. This was changed to GMSB which stands for Grand Old Flag, Mickey Mouse, When the Saints Go Marching In and Here Comes the King, better known as Budweiser. During the parade which always has huge crowds we added Tequila which is a crowd favorite and also a good tune Down by the Riverside. We used to march this 2 mile pa-rade but now we have to Ride so the Shrine Kids can Walk. The Ainad Drum Corps plays at dinner but this year we were so late getting there, they had already played and gone home. Oh well, we ate all the chicken that the Bel-Air Bowl had and were thankful that it didn't rain. Director Rick and Drum Major Dave thank all who participated and we will next write all you Nobles in September. CELEBRATING OUR PAST ...BUILDING OUR FUTURE

Committee is beginning plans for the annual Ra-quet Ruckus Tournament and Auction in August. Chairman of the event, Bob Berry, who dedicates long hours and effort, is challenging for help to make this years event successful to reach a goal of $52,000 for support of Shriners Hospital, St. Louis. Bob is challenging Committee members and Moolah Nobles to obtain tournament sponsor levels of $150 to $2,000. Any one who donates or sponsors, make checks payable to “Shriners Hos-pital for Children.” Also needed are items for the silent auction that need to be received by August 1st. Targeted are restaurants, auto dealers or repair shops, beauty shops, and all type of busi-nesses. Help is also needed for the racquet ball tournament on August 26, from 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM. Bob would appreciate any volunteer help. April statistics for Shriners Hospital show: Outpa-tient 760; Inpatient 28; Outpatient Surgery 57. Moolah Nobles, welcome to our Committee meetings held on the third Wednesday at 6:15 in our room.

Reception Committee

President: Bruce MarrenVice President: Matt SchoonoverSecretary: VacantTreasurer: David DieckhausChairman: Matt Niedringhaus

Hopefully everyone had a great Fourth of July, and each of us had a chance to reflect on those that have served in the military to allow us this great freedom. In addition, we hope you had some good BBQ with some great friends and family.

Keep in mind that Reception is raffling off 4 sports memorabilia pieces, as seen at the Circus Kick-off, to be raffled off at the Fall Ceremonial. Tickets are sold at the stated meeting and we have the memorabilia out for people to see. Tickets are $5 each or 3 for $10. Make sure to get you tickets today! These are some very fine looking pieces that would look great in a man cave or Unit room.

There will be no First Friday in the Month of July!!! Our next month's First Friday Dinner will be held in August, and it will be our BBQ and Ice Cream social. Our First Fridays are open to all of Moolah, and we welcome you to come and enjoy a great evening. Meals are $10/person, and both Ladies and children are welcome. Keep in mind that dues are due for both Recep-tion Committee as well as Temple dues.

One last reminder about Moolah stated meetings: Per the Potentate, you must have your dues card with you to gain admittance into the Temple. Re-ception Committee Members will continue to tile the doors, and ask for your card and passwords. Even if you are not attending the meeting, and just attending dinner, a paid Moolah Membership card is needed to enter the Temple.

Our Spring Dances were huge. We got to see a lot of fellow Shriners mixed in with our other dancers and a lot of the general public. Thanks to all of those that stopped by one or two of our dances.

We are planning some exciting upcoming live band nights.

Admission for our live band nights is only $10 per person. If you like to dance or just want to go out someplace to relax and listen to good music with friends check us out. Doors open at 6:30 pm with music starting at 7:00 pm.

I want to continue the challenge to ALL the units to patronize our dances. Take one dance and bring as many of your members as you can, along with their Ladies and let’s see which unit made the top of the list by December.

Please note, if you’re a small group looking for a place to hold a birthday party, want music, a bar, and a reserved area to hold it, let us know. You’re welcome to have your party at one of our regular dances. If you bring at least 20 folks, we’ll buy the birthday cake for your party!!! Reg-ular admission fees apply. Cape Shrine Club

President: Mark Rethemeyer 314-605-7615

We had a good turnout for our June dinner meeting at Gettemeier’s. It is great to have such a good turn out during the summer when activities in the Shrine are slow. Thanks to everyone that came out and joined the FUN!

We meet all summer long on the “Last Thursday of the Month” at JJ’s Restaurant in O’Fallon. Arrive between 6:00 and 6:30 for dinner (separate checks) and at 7:30 the guys have a meeting and the Ladies play Bunko. Whether you are a member of Daniel Boone, or not – you and your Lady are always welcomed and encouraged to join us. No need to reserve – just bring your Lady and show up! How much easier could we make it for you? We will make sure you are welcomed and greeted when you arrive, and that you and your Lady will have a great time.

Our “20th Annual Car Show” is right around the corner so mark your calendar for Sunday, Septem-ber 24th. It will be at the O’Fallon Plaza on Hwy M in O’Fallon. This would be a great way to get introduced to Daniel Boone Shrine Club. Come out around 9:00 to help set up. Or, around noon and enjoy the car show and get to know us. We would love for you to give Daniel Boone a try.

If you would like more information about joining Dan-iel Boone, give President Mark a call and he’ll fill you in on our upcoming activities. Mark at 314-605-7615

Lots has been happening in Cape Shrine Club lately, and we are looking to be even busier …. Perryville Mayfest parade May 12 had a large presence by the Club with the firetruck gaining a lot of attention and the beads a big hit with the kids. We then kept things going in Perryville with our Stag Night at Mary Jane’s Burgers and brew on May 24 with a large attendance. Our mem-bers are really becoming energized with all that’s happening here at Cape. Everyone is encouraged to add to our roles by looking to your blue lodge for those who would like to add to the energy.

Our 22nd annual golf tournament May 19 was another rousing success. While we didn’t quite raise the record amount we did last year, we got close, and the help we got from the Divan and the Potentate delivering drinks and selling gun raffle tickets was greatly appreciated. Thanks Dean and Jack! We had a full slate of golfers and beautiful weather (after a brief rain delay) for a great day for all involved.

Ladies nite for the entertainment of our better halves is June 28 at Grecian Steakhouse in Cape.

The plans are nearly complete for the new clubhouse!! Go by and look at our location at the intersection of I-55 and Hwy 61 just north of the Veteran’s Home next to Hilltop RV (a great location!!). Groundbreaking is going to be in July as soon as plans are approved by the City.

The 100 gun raffle is coming up July 29. All Cape Shrine Club members are encouraged to sell, sell, sell to get the 5 dollar per ticket bonus we are applying to our building fund. Talk to Chuck for tickets 573-208-6901.

July 4 is the annual Jackson picnic. As always, we are smoking porksteaks and brats. Lots of help is needed for our largest cookout of the year. All members are encouraged to show up early for the fun we always have cooking. We start serving at 10am, start cooking at 6am and go hard all day!!

Upcoming is the SEMO Fair parade September 9. We had the Poplar Bluff Club come up with their cars for the 2016 Christmas Parade of Lights and the response was outstanding! If YOMO would like to come down and learn to parade, we have a spot for you.

The saddest news I have had to report since I began writing the column weighs heavily today.

Cape lost a great Shriner May 29. Noble Bill Sulli-van passed after complications from an aneurism. He was a dedicated Shriner, and loved working for the cause of helping our children. He personally helped with the transport of our local Kids and worked at every fundraiser in support of the cause. He really ramped it up when our new clubhouse project came into being, and spent a huge amount of his time and treasure bringing it to fruition. Bill was Moolah Shriner of the month for October 2016, Cape Shriner of the year 2016, and was an inspiration to many for all his time, energy, and hard work. Goodbye Brother Bill, Enjoy the Light at the end of your journey. With Bill’s dedication to the Shrine, his widow, Peggy, requested a Shriner funeral service. Many Brothers were in attendance and Past Potentate Ken Miles developed a won-derful tribute that told mourners who we are and why Bill cared so much for the cause. Great job, Ken, Peggy was very pleased.

Capital Shrine Club

President: Greg Duckett 573-896-5905Secretary: David Mauldin 573-338-0211

Capital Shrine Club is reporting in. We had our annual Fish Fry at the Club Saturday evening, June 10, 2017. It was a great success. The Potentate and First Lady of Moolah Temple were in atten-dance, along with three Divan Members and Ladies, as well as PP John Smith and his Lady. Several visitors/guests were also present; including the Mayor of Jefferson City, Carrie Tergin and her parents. Also, we had a former patient from the Hospital in St Louis and her family, who gave a testimonial about her treatment.

There was approximately $485 A&J Dollars contrib-uted to the Club for the Shriners Hospital. The Club raffled off an AR 15 Rifle, a Hand Made Quilt, and $50 in Cash.

The Capital Shrine Club “Lady of the Year” award was presented to Sue Mathews. Two Ladies of Capital S.C.; Donna Trammell and Janet Clark are members of the Jefferson City Council of Clubs. They arranged for Noble Ben Dennison to make a presentation to the Council about the New Shriners Hospital on May 15th. It was well received.

The CSC Motor Patrol are preparing for the CSSA competition in Overland Park, KS. 31 Aug 2 Sep 2017.

Following our business meeting on June 13, the Club will be “dark” until September.

Our First Lady, Kim Isbell, used a “butterfly” theme for the day in memory of her mother and gifted everyone a beautiful “butterfly” pot filled with blooming plants for our gardens. Following lunch we visited the Sophia M. Sachs Butterfly House. At the Butterfly House we enjoyed the Tropical Garden, the Native Garden and the short movie on butterflies. It’s true, butterflies do taste with their feet! We did cause a bit of a stir when one of the butter-flies decided to hitch a ride, hiding in the open purse of one of our members (don’t worry Ellen, we won’t tell who). It all ended well when the butterfly was released back into his home in the Tropical Garden.

June 28th will be a departure from our regular meeting as it will be an evening meeting, 5:30-7:30pm. Our entertainment will be provided by Nailah Court #107, the “Drill Divas”. Nailah Court #107

Wondering what the Ladies Oriental Shrine of North America is?

To give you a little history on Ladies Oriental Shrine of North America, the organization was founded in Wheeling, West Virginia in 1903. Nailah Court #107 is just one of many active subordinate courts throughout the United States and Canada.

When the Shriners founded the Shrine Hospitals for Children and the first hospital was built in 1922, the Ladies committed to supporting the Shrine’s official philanthropy. Today the Courts continue to support the hospital fund, hospital sewing, research projects and other areas of interest. Each Court not only raises funds for the hospitals, but they donate clothing, stuffed ani-mals, purchase equipment, man the information desk in the various hospitals and serve as office personnel on a voluntary basis. The LOSNA con-tributes well over a half million dollars yearly to the Shrine Hospitals. Every year the new Grand High Priestess has a Special Project to raise money for the hospital of her choice to purchase whatever they need. Nailah Court #107 is proud of the funds that have been raised and donated to the transportation fund for Moolah Shrine Temple to assure all children in need have a means to get to the hospital. Are you interested in joining? Give us a call, we would love to have you join us.

We were excited that Nailah Court #107 was well represented at the 103rd Grand Council Session. Not only the ladies that attended the business meetings and other fun activities, but our “Jest Clownin’ Around” unit and our new unit “Drill Divas”, both performed in the Drills this year. Our Summer Sizzle fundraiser on June 3, 2017 was a great success. We were excited to have Noble Jim Giesele and Noble Bill Bradford and his Lady Nancy attend our event. We were pleased to present a check for $200.00 to Noble Jim Giesele, President of the Hospital Committee for the Toy Chest. We want to thank everyone that came out to support this and other events to allow us to donate funds to Shriners Hospital for Children.

With Tinker Bell Hugs,Lady Patricia Aaron, High Priestess

Nailah Court #107 High Priestess Patricia Aaron and Associate Princess Marcia Jacobi present a check for $200.00 from our Baby Bottle Bank to Nobles Jim Gesell and Bill Bradford along with Shrine Hospital patient ambassador Madelyn Hubbs. The money was raised by the Ladies Oriental Shrine of North America ladies to help fund toys for the Toy Box at the St. Louis Shriners hospital.
