Free Ortho Camp organized by HHF

As most of you are aware we organized a free ortho camp @ Olive Hospital with Dr. Syed Ali Mehdi – FRCS, Scotland, the camp was a great success as Dr.Ali helped so many young men who had critical leg & foot injuries with correct diagnosis, line of treatment & support. In one case for a ankle fracture he just recommended a pair of good shoes which will help the patient recover as opposed to the medication & other procedures the doctors had advised here.

Free Ortho Camp organized by HHF

As an immediate follow up action, we helped the young bread winners who had trauma related foot & ankle injuries to buy ortho supportive equipment like clutches, chairs, walking sticks etc. We are closely monitoring these cases total 6 to 8 patients are in this list & are also providing them monthly rent till they are back to their work

Hip Joint Replacement of a poor young man done for almost free of charge:

Qadeer Khan is 31yrs old glass fixer by profession R/o Chowni Nade Ali, Chanchalguda, suffered from Bilateral Avascular Necrosis of the Hip Bone a condition where the head of the femur almost collapses due to the bone tissue being destroyed – last year his left hip jt was replaced at Udai Clinic for Rs 3 lacs wherein HHF had supported this case by the able support of its donors again this year Qadeer developed similar problem in his lt hip & he required a second hip jt replacement this time around, we invited our panel doctor & a good friend Dr Ali Mehdi FRCS, Scotland to perform this surgery – By the mercy of Allah this surgery was done successfully and there was no cost to the patient – pls read the press release issued in the Hindu a leading National daily in India:

Surgeries undertaken – May 13

Shaikh Izhar Safi 22yrs of age, met with an major accident on 17th March 2013 and had severe Left Optic Decompression with Blood clotting in brain & his upper cheek and jaw were fully crushed – he was intubated and was life support for initial 2 to 3 weeks and a battery of surgeries were done to reconstruct the mandible, jaw and the cheek bone along with Neuro Surgery to remove the clot. Izhar complained of swelling on his face with headache & other complication – upon investigations the doctors discovered that the Cerebral Fluid in the Spine ( CSF) is leaking due to optic nerve injury and this in itself is a major risk and emergency condition that needs to be handled – he has now been admitted in Kohinoor Hospital for an emergency surgery to plug the CSF drain the surgery is estimated to cost Rs 2.5 lacs – By the mercy of Allah the surgery was successful & we remitted Rs 2 lacs to Hospital – the boy is doing fine now

Hina Fatima is 14 yrs, old teenaged girl diagnosed with Periosteal Osteosarcoma of the left femur ( Bone Cancer) a cancer, fortunately for Hina, Periosteal Osteosarcoma is less aggressive then its variants & secondly it is non- metastatic i.e. it has not spread so far, thus giving a very bright chance for this young girl to recover fully from this dreaded disease. The Tumor was successfully removed & also a new procedure femoral vein reconstruction was done during the surgery escalating the total bill to Rs 3.35 lacs as opposed to Rs 2 lacs estimated earlier HHF has remitted Rs 2.5 lacs ( see attached receipts) – Unfortunately patient has developed necrosis on the knee skin which requires another procedure but overall the tumor has been removed totally.

Emergency Cases taken up – May 13

Syed Akbar 28 yrs daily wage earner met with a road accident in which he recvd major head & facial injuries - he was admitted in CARE Hospital and the helpless father was running from pillar to post after spending Rs 5 lacs – Since the young man had good chances of survival & being the sole bread winner – we immediately released Rs 50000/- & now he is out of danger and on the way to recovery.

Master Mohammed Ibrahim 4 yrs, fell from 7feet iron stool - he was admitted in CARE Hospital and his father is stuck in Saudi and unable to send funds for his son’s treatment – we immediately released Rs 25000/- and the boy is still under observation.

Mohammed Sharfuddin, 70yrs old man, a rickshaw puller – met with an accident and his thigh bone broken and is admitted in Princess Esra Hospital and implant surgery done.

Shaik Arshad Rahman, 19years old R/o Kazgaznagar, Adilabad S/o of a pvt security guard – Rod implant was removed from left leg at Owaisi Hospital, surgery cost Rs. 22500/-.

Mohammed Afroze; 28years old an auto driver – Suffering from Developmental Contaract in both eyes- He is advised left eye cataract surgery - HHF paid 7000 towards surgery.

Air Cooler Distribution to Poor – May 13

The Distribution of Air coolers continued in this month – We have distributed 45 air coolers to poor patients & their families in this summers

Shaheda Begum, 53 yrs old woman k/c/o CML (Blood Cancer)_ – released Rs 10000/- for medicines.

Tahiniyat Shaik, 18 yrs - k/c/o Chest Wall Tumor– released Rs 10,826 to Indo American Hospital for Chemotherapy.

Hafsa Tabassum 17 yrs – k/c/o Osteosarcoma– Chemotherapy done at Indo American Hospital, HHF paid 5000/-

Other recurring monthly commitments @ HHF

50 + Cases registered for Monthly dialysis for Renal Failure, patients are given Rs 2000 to Rs 3000 per month – Total cost per month = Rs 100000/-

We have enlisted 100 + people under Category ‘A’ in which the earning member of the house has suddenly lost the ability to earn due to accidents, Chronic disease like Stroke, Paralysis, Cancer etc. We provide such poor people monthly package of Rs 2000 to Rs 4000 depending on their situation

Monthly support to poor & young Cancer Patients approx. Rs 1 lac per month.

10 – 12 - Short term hospitalization & emergency cases are taken up by HHF from the empanelled list of hospitals to support poor patients for hospital bills, medicines & investigations which they cannot afford & often end up borrowing.
