SIL CERTIFICATION (Safety Integrity Level) – FUNCTIONAL SAFETY

Many industrial applications, especially in hydraulics, could present dangerous phenomena like cavitation, liquid hammer or pressure peaks, due for example to pumps start and stop or fast closing of a valve�These phenomena can be harmful to the transducer�

The KH series, upon request, is available with an integra-ted pressure snubber which, thanks to a 0�5 mm diame-ter through hole, eliminates these harmful peaks,to protect the transducer�

Contact Gefran to request the version with pressuresnubber�

Safety is a critical requirement especially for machine builders� The new European Directive 2006/42/EC defines all the essential requirements in this regard�

In the context of functional safety, the European directive is received by the technical standard IEC/EN 62061 “Safety of machinery - Functional safety of safety-related electrical, electronic and programmable electronic control systems” (SRECS)�

KH pressure transmitters are certified SIL CL 2 by the Certification Body TÜV Rheinland in accordance with that rule, for use in applications “High Demand Mode” and then may be used in SRECS systems of machinery, where the safety varia-ble to control will be the pressure of a fluid�

KHC pressure transmitters are based on film sensing element deposited on stainless steel diaphragm.

Thanks to the latest state of the art SMD electronics and compact all stainless steel construction, this pro-ducts are extremely robust and reliable, specially suita-ble for mobile hydraulics applications.

In particular the KHC series combines high accuracy with temperature stability, resistance to extreme envi-ronmental conditions and digital outputs with mobile hydraulics typical protocols. The model KHC is availa-ble with either CANopen® or J1939 protocol.

Developed to ensure a robust and high-performancesolution for applications such as agricultural machines,contruct ion machines and mater ia l handl ing equipments.

The digital signal, in addition to the pressure measure-ment, also contains the data related to the temperature of the device.

The instrument is delivered preconfigured and ready to be used without any further effort. Custom configu-rations are also possible, to be specified on order, or

Linear position transducer with GEFRAN’S innovative ONDA magnetostrictive technology for long life.

The absence of electrical contact on the cursor eliminates wearing and guarantees almost unlimited life.

Gefran’s patented ONDA technology achieves a com-pact, modular structure for simple installation.

RK-5 is a magnetostrictive position transdu-cer with flan-ged connection that installs completely inside oil-pressure cylinders.

Its unique design, plus a wide range of cursor configura-tions, ensures easy installation and total compatibility with cylinder manufacturer speci-fications.

Working temperature from -40 to +105°C, working pres-sures up to 350 bar, high resistance to vibration (25 g) and shock (100g) give the sensor the indispensable strength needed for heavy-duty use (for example: mobile hydraulics).

High performance in terms of transduction of measure-ment defined as linearity, hystersis and repeatability.

The communication system of CAN bus allows a fast and safe transmission.

The implementation of the CANopen DS-301 protocol and Device Profile DS-406 provides quick and easy integration of the transducer in the control system and automation.

Main features

• Amplifies the strain between the 2 mounting areas mechanically

• Ideal for tension mode• With high end digital amplifier type 268 (active)• Mainly for dynamic applications• Use don presses and injection moulding machines• Solid steel housing (IP54)

Strain link sensors picks up surface-strain between the 2 mounting locations.

The strain occuring between the mounting areas is mechanically amplified inside of the sensor.

The integrated digital amplifier processes the signal on the spot, avoiding EMC problems.

Thanks to the rugged design, this sensors are used in heavy industrial environment. In case of overload, this sensor may get an offset.

After replacing a SL-Sensor, they need to be recalibra-ted. They need a cyclical reset (for cycles >1min.).

Our amplifier can handle the occuring large offset range.

The TH series force transducers are ideal for systems that measure tension or compression force in industrial applications, where accuracy and reliability are impor-tant, even in harsh environments.

The disposition of the (8) strain gauges of the measu-rement bridges uses the deformation produced by the shear force of the applied load. It is thus possible to make accurate force transducers that are rugged and insensitive to lateral loads.

The transducer is machined from a solid block of stainless steel and contains no welds or joints.

The electrical circuit is protected by sealed formed stainless steel plates.
