RACE-Time magazine & the Civil Rights Project of Harvard identified Sacramento as the most racially/ethnically Integrated city in the US.

POPULATION-(CNNMoney.com) Elk Grove, California is the fastest growing city of more than 100,000 in the United States, according to the latest estimates from the Census Bureau released Wednesday.

This young city, a suburb of south Sacra-mento, that incorporated only six years ago, grew by 12 percent to 112,338 in the 12 months ended July 1, 2005. Now in 2010 there are about 150,000 people. With such a fast growing & new incorporated city, Elk Grove is severely under churched. The need is great & the opportunity is greater. Please help us reach this incredibly diverse & spiritually neglected community.

With about 350,000 evangelical churches in North America, some might

say that we have enough. But consider these facts:

• For every new church that opens, four close.

• 19.4 % decline in church attendance in the past decade alone

• Only 28% of people ages 23-37 attend church, as opposed to 43%-52% for older generations.

• Only one county in America has a greater church population than it did ten years ago.

• 15,000 people per month convert to Islam in the U.S.

• 290 million people in the US. 65% or 188 million have no vital church connection.

• If we were to start new churches of 1000 people each, we would need almost 200,000 new churches in

the US to win all these people.

• The U.S. has the 4th largest population of unreached people in the world, after India, China, & Malasia.

• The U.S. is 14th on the list of nations RECEIVING missionaries from other countries.

• 85 % of all churches in America are either plateau or are declining (Win Arn, Church Growth Expert;

found in Aubrey Malphurs, Planting Growing Churches. Page 13.)

• Of the 85% that are growing, 14% are doing so by transfer from other churches. (Malthus, page 32) Even with all those churches out there, 65% of North American’s (200 million people) have no church affilia-tion and do not consider themselves Christians. All this means that only 1 out of 100 of the churches that claim to be “evangelical” are actually winning non-Christians to Christ. We desperately need more

“Great Commission” churches.

Church planting:

The Single-most Effective Evangelistic Methodology.

As good stewards we must ask ourselves how we will spend our limited resources. Do we reenergize existing churches or work on starting new ones? The answer might be found in the following quote from Peter Wagner,

a leading expert in church renewal:

“I begin this book with a categorical statement that will seem bold and brash to some at first sight, even though it has been well substantiated by research over the past two or three decades: The single most effec-tive evangelistic methodology under heaven is planting new churches.” (Wagner, “Church Planting For a

Greater Harvest,”)

Those who have tried both will attest to the fact that it takes much more energy to bring new life into an ex-isting church than to start a new one. As Audrey Malphurs puts it, “It is easier to have a baby than to raise the

dead.”

Christian Schwarz in Natural Church Development surveyed over 1,000 churches from 32 countries and 6 conti-nents. He discovered that new churches of 100 were 16 times more effective in winning new converts to Christ

than mega churches.

Clearly, we need more churches that are passionate and effective in

winning the lost to Christ.

We will operate as a network of house churches because we believe that house

churches are a great environment for discipleship. The simplest way to put it, being smaller allows disciples of Christ to be the church in ways that can’t accomplish in a

larger gathering. The New Testament lists over 50 “one another’s” in which the church ought to be active. Love one another. Encourage each other. Serve one an-

other... We simply cannot live life together as the church without opportunity to do these thing, and these things simply don’t happen when the church remains a sea of

anonymous people.

Sometimes I wonder why we

would bother to network the house churches together (rather than just

have them operate completely in-dependent of one another). Basi-

cally, functioning as a network al-lows for large opportunities like

major missions projects or large teaching forums, and the small community house churches which make up the net-

work, allow for the intimate interaction of accountability, and exercising spiritual gifts. We see the “big” and the “small” as compliments to one another, not in oppo-

sition.

What happens in a house church Every house church will be unique. The personalities, gifts, contexts, and back-grounds within a church will always shape a group to some extent. We do, however

use a simple measuring stick by which the group can hold themselves (and

be held) accountable to healthy body life. We refer to this as the DNA of our

house churches. We should all con-tinually be challenged and growing in

the following areas:

1. Dynamic Truth: Teaching one an-

other, through the Word and Spirit, the dynamic truth of scripture and chal-

lenging one another to be accountable and obedient to becoming more like

Christ. 2. Nurturing Relationships: Building strong, dependent relationships with brothers

and sisters in Christ through close, personal accountability, prayer, and the many

“one another” expressions of community mentioned in the New Testament. Apostolic Mission: Encouraging one another to live outwardly, (together and

as individuals), obeying the commands of Scripture, prompting of the Spirit, to share the gospel, and do good works to advance the kingdom of God.

Why House Churches?

Page 9: Mission Community ChurchMission Community Churchstorage.cloversites.com/missionchurch/documents/MISSION-church … · Those who have tried both will attest to the fact that it takes

9 Why House Churches? (cont.) How does DNA really happen?

Every house church is unique, but they will generally all share the common elements of a shared meal, worship, prayer, and time in scripture. The house churches will seek to

establish transparency and accountability in even smaller same-sex groups that often meet or talk throughout the week. Throughout all of these different things, disciples

should always be encouraging each other’s personal calling to minister to those around them. It’s not unusual to hear about house churches baptizing one another in bathtubs

and swimming pools. Stories of house church mission trips and local service projects are

becoming more and more common. People are coming to know their Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in living rooms and backyards. Some of them may have never been in a

church building. We truly do believe these simple house churches ARE actual churches.

Where do house churches meet?

Our house church network will be organized by geography. We have broken up the Elk Grove (Southern Sacramento Area) into regions which each will contain many house

churches. We then encourage you to be a part of a house church that meets near where you live. This encourages closer community

with those in your house church, and it also allows for you to be “on mission” for Christ

together in your community that you have in common.

When do they meet?

They meet throughout the week. It’s common for them to meet on Sunday late afternoons,

Wednesday evenings, etc. Really, the time is dependent upon the needs of the people in the house church. As you grow closer with

your house church, you’ll find that you may be getting together multiple times through-out each week.

Who are HC’s for?

Everyone. Since house churches are organized by geography, they are not intentionally

geared toward specific ages, life stages, etc. Does that mean that a house church may have singles, parents, and children all together? Yes it does! They can really become a

family environment, teaching one another and sharing life together. It’s often much more like “Family Thanksgiving” than “Small Group Bible Study.” And yes, that can make

things interesting at times… but you’ll probably grow to love it if you give it a chance!

What else will you have other than house churches?

We will have a main church which we will call the hub church to give authority, direction,

inspiration, support, training and encouragement to the network of house churches. We will celebrate every Sunday in worship and preaching the Word of God. Our main focus

will need to be on leadership development through discipleship, mentorship, and appren-ticeship. Our long term vision is a Hub church of 2,500 people and 100 house churches in

the southern Sacramento region. We will strive for simplicity in the Sunday service and transparency and authenticity in our house churches. The hub church will only do those

things that can only be done collectively. Our ministering, edification, exhortation, ordi-nances and evangelism will be accomplished through our house church elders and

churches. We are trying to achieve the excitement of a big church with the intimacy of a small church.

The Word of God I believe that the Holy Bible is supernaturally inspired and that it is the Truth without any error or mistake.

It will forever remain, the only complete and final revelation of the will of God to man. It is the true center of Christian union and the supreme standard by which all human conduct, creeds, and opinions should be tried. The Holy Bible was God breathed, and He used holy men to write down exactly what he wanted the Bible to contain. I believe the Word of God is active in salvation. It is the absolute, infallible guide to tell you how to live. The Word of God equips you for service, and sustains you. The Word of God keeps you clean to please God. The Bible is surer than the audible voice of God. All “experiences” are to be judged by the Word of God. The Bible is learned by comparing scripture with scripture, relying on God’s Spirit to teach you and not your own natural intellect. The Bible has a total of 66 books. It was written by more than 40 authors. It is written over a time span of 2,000 years. The Bible is totally accurate in matters of history and prophecy. It does not have any contradictions, and fits together as if it was written by one man.

Job 23:12, Psalm 19:7-11; 119:89,105,130,160; Proverbs 30:5-6; Luke 44-45; John 5:39, John 17:17; Romans 10:17, 15:4; 1 Corinthians 2:9-16, 15:1-4; Ephesians 6:17; 2Timothy 3:16-17; 2Peter 1:19-21; Revelation 22:19

The One True God I believe that there is only one, living and true God. He is an infinite, intelligent Spirit, the maker and su-

preme ruler of heaven and earth. He is glorious in holiness and worthy of all possible honor, confidence and love. He is the unity of the Godhead. There are three persons, the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost, but they all are one. I believe that He is all knowing, that He is all powerful, and that He is everywhere. Exodus 20:2-3; 15:11; Psalm 83:18; 90:2; 147:5; Jeremiah 10:10; Matthew 28:19; Mark 12:30; John 4:24; 10:30; 15:26; 1Corinthians 8:6; 2Corinthians 13:14; Ephesians 4:6; Philippi ans 2:5-6; 1Timothy 1:17; 1John 5:7;

The Holy Spirit I believe that the Holy Spirit is a divine person. He is equal with God the Father and God the Son and of

the same nature. He was active in creation. He restrains the evil one until God's purpose is fulfilled. The Holy Spirit convicts the believer of sin, righteousness, and judgment. He bears witness to the Truth of the Gospel in preaching and testimony. He seals, guides, teaches, witnesses, sanctifies, comforts, and helps the be-liever. The day you receive the Lord as your personal Savior, the Holy Spirit took up permanent residence inside your body. He is the third person of the trinity. You will never receive ‘more” of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit convicts you of sin. The Holy Spirit intercedes in prayer for the believer. The Holy Spirit comforts in time of need. The Holy Spirit empowers you to serve God. The result of the Holy Spirit in your life is called the fruit of the Spirit.

The Devil/Satan I believe that Satan was once holy, and enjoyed heavenly honors. He was the light bearer of God. He

reflected the glory of God. Through pride and selfishness to be like the Almighty, Satan wanted all the glory that only God deserves. He led a third of the angles in a rebellion against God Almighty. He was cast out of Heaven, and now is the unholy god of this world. He is a murderer and the father of lies. He is now the prince of the power of the air. He is man's great tempter, and our adversary. He is the enemy of God and His Christ, the accuser of the saints, the author of all false religions, the lord of the antichrist, and the author of all the powers of darkness. He is as a lion that wants to devour. He will be defeated one day at the hands of God's own Son. His judgment will be an eternal justice in hell, a place prepared for him and his angels.

Salvation/ Atonement for my sins I believe that the salvation of sinners is wholly of grace, only through faith in the Son of God. Jesus Christ is

God. You must believe that Jesus is the Son of God, that you are a sinner and that you have no hope with out a personal love relationship with the God of the universe. You must accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Sav-ior. There is nothing you can do on your own to come to or earn Jesus. It is only by the atoning blood of Jesus Christ that He shed on the cross of Calvary can you come to him. He lived a perfect life and by His personal obedience, He became sin for us, yet He knew no sin. He voluntary substituted Himself in the sinner's place, by submitting to the will of the Father. Christ, the Lord, bore our sins in His own body on the tree. He not only stayed on that tree/cross, but was buried and triumphantly rose again from the dead, three days after he died. Jesus Christ wants you to give your life to Him. Jesus is the only way, truth, and life. There is no other way to God the Father, except through his son Jesus. That is how you are born again. Once you accept Christ, you are now his child and He is your Father.

Isaiah 53:4-7, Matthew 18:11; John 3:15-18, 36, 14:6; Acts 16:31; Romans 3:23-24, 6:23.10:9-10, 13; 2 Corinthians 5:21; Ephesians 2: 4-5, 8-9 Philippians 2:7-8; 1 Timothy 1:15; Hebrews 12:2; 1 Peter 2:24; 2

Peter 3:9

Baptism and the Lord's Supper I believe that there are 2 ordinances given by God to the local church. The two ordinances are baptism and the Lord’s Supper. Baptism is the picture of the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Christian bap-tism is the complete immersion in water of a believer, in the name of the Father, of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. Baptism is not a completion of Salvation, but is the first act of obedience after salvation. It is an authority given by God through the local church. Matthew 3:16; Acts 2:41-42; 8:12,36-39;18:8 Romans 6:3-5; Ephesians 2:8-9; Colossians 2:12 The Lord’s Supper is reserved for those who are in Christ (saved). The purpose of the Lord’s Table is to re-member the blood and the body of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to look forward to the blessed hope. We are to reflect on the cross that Jesus died, and what He has done in our lives. The believer should examine their life and judge themselves to make sure they do not eat or drink unworthily. There is no saving power in the ele-ments of the Lord’s Table and the elements do not constitute the literal blood and body of Christ. I believe that the false teaching of a man or a man’s prayer does not have the power to transform the elements of the Lord’s Table into the literal blood or body of Christ.

Matthew 26:26-28; Mark 14:22-24; Luke 22:19-20; Acts 2:41-42; 1 Corinthians 11:19-34,

Missions I believe God has command the church and all the believers, to give the gospel to the world. It is a clear and

unmistakable commission of the church, to “go” into the entire world and preach and teach the gospel. The gos-pel is the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. I believe “missions” is God’s heart. Two thirds of Gods name is “Go”. We must reach out to this world. We must tell others the gospel locally and globally. Matthew 28:18-20; Mark 16:15; Acts 1:8; Romans 10:13-15

Qualifications of Leadership I believe that God lays out the qualifications of leadership perfectly. I believe it is very clear what he ex-

pects and demands a Pastor and leader of a church should be. I believe if a man desires the office of a Bishop, that he desires a good thing. I believe a man is to hold the office of a Pastor, and be a shepherd of God’s flock in a local church. I believe a woman should not usurp authority, or have dominion over men. I believe a pastor needs to be blameless, and the husband of one wife. He needs to be discreet, and of good behavior. He needs to be given to hospitality, and able to teach the Word of God with authority! He should be sober, just, holy, and temperate. I believe a Pastor should not consume alcohol, or be a brawler. He is not greedy of money, or covetous. He is patient and he must rule his house well. He must have faithful chil-dren. His children should be under submission with honor and respect. He must be able to rule his own house, or else he will not be qualified to lead God’s house. He isn’t to be a newborn Christian, but is saved long enough to discern good and evil, yet with out being lifted up with pride. He should be well reported among oth-ers. He should not be selfish, or soon angry. He must be a lover of good men. Matthew7:29; Mark 1:22; 1 Timothy 2:8-12; 1 Timothy 3:1-13, Titus 1:5-11; Ephesians 5:19-33

At Stadia we specialize in helping churches start

healthy, successful new churches. We are Christ-followers who believe everyone deserves a relationship

with Jesus and a home church with which to celebrate, contribute, and connect as disciples.

Stadia has helped start nearly 100 such churches in the past decade alone. Those churches

currently average over 300 in weekly attendance and baptize at a rate more than 50 times the national av-

erage. Today over 90% of all churches ever planted in partnership with Stadia are still actively preaching the Gospel and reaching the lost. That’s an astounding suc-

cess rate in the notoriously challenging world of church planting; across evangelical denominations just 5 in 10 church plants survived during that same time period.
