Dear MINDS Members As the year 2016 dawns, let us remind ourselves that MINDS is continually striving to encourage every Malaysian to be inventive and also to promote the culture of invention and innovation, However, MINDS is also embarking on a mission to encourage creativity in artistic pursuits and also the study of humanities, in order that one has the ability to shift rapidly between divergent and convergent thinking, which could be the key to innovation. For 2016, challenge yourself to dream a little more, come up with more ideas and have

the inspiration to make these ideas happen. Dont look back a year from now and wish you had done something about it. MINDS would like to thank you for your support and it is through your continuous support that made us one of the strongest and largest organisations serving the

PlaTCOM VENTURES SDN BHD CYBERJAYA Following the pitching session arranged by MINDS with PlaTCOM mentioned in our last Newsletter, we are pleased to share the success story of Bahagian Kemahiran dan Teknikal MARA. The pitching session was held at PlaTCOM as a follow-on from last ITEX. The session was conducted by Ms Biruntha, the Vice President who is also a Commercialisation Specialist of PlaTCOM. On finding that there is commercial value on the product I-Sink (a height adjustable sink, which is convenient for children and disabled people), Teknikal MARA expressed their intention to license their innovation to a suitable industry partner to commercialise their innovation.

Following that PlaTCOM managed to identify an industry player where a preliminary meeting was set up between the company and PlaTCOM to pitch the concept and commercial potential of the innovation. This was followed by introducing the innovation at PlaTCOMs Mega InnoSeed 2015 event where Teknikal MARA participated as an exhibitor and demonstrated the innovation to the interested company. As of now, PlaTCOM is in the midst of drafting the licensing agreement and determining the royalty and best licensing engagement between the two parties. MINDS would like to wish Teknikal MARA all the best in this licensing deal and also to thank PlaTCOM for the role they played in this success story.

Another interesting invention that had been awarded the High Impact Programme2 is the INTERNET 2.0 SECURE & MULTIMODE INTERNETWORKING. The Internet 2.0 is the brainchild of Alex Lee (pic) who has always been good in problem solving ad reverse-engineering. Alexs invention is a network protocol suite to enable Internet-like and Web-based capability natively over any telecommunication systems without using the internet platform. The reason current Internet will forever be vulnerable to hacking is due to the fundamental design of the Internet system. In order to survive nuclear attack and for the ease of implementation, the Internet was designed and operated using connectionless broadcast transmission, modelled after the postal delivery system. As such, Internet routing addresses remains static from the sender to the receiver as information traverses through a series of IP routers and switches. It is through these static addresses that hackers capitalize on to target and capture data packets or clone others IP addresses for intrusive attacks.

The need for privacy and security will inevitably usher in a new transformative technology to fulfil such need. Secure & Multimode Internet 2.0 could be such a solution. Secure & Multimode Internet 2.0 is able to provides both dedicated-media and private mode of communication for internetworking, coined as Virtual Dedicated Media Internet (VDMI)TM, as well as having the ability to provide connectivity to existing Internet services. Current Internet technology does not operates natively on the telephony system, instead the Internet piggy-back on it. This rendered the Internet unable to fully capitalize on the capabilities of the telephony systems. With Secure-version Internet 2.0, VDMITM operating natively on the telephony system, it is able to fully capitalize on inherent strengths and utilizes on telephony systems dynamic routing addressing and reliable call tracing and recording for cyber-security enforcement. With VDMITM platform, the information packets doesnt pass through any IP-based or shared-media internetworking platforms thus rendering it invisibility to the hackers.

A new transmission media network protocol known as Transmission Media Adaptation Layer (TMAL)TM was created to communicate directly with existing connection-based network systems to subscribe for interconnect services. To enable VDMITM, one will download TMALTM drivers on their device. The download will install TMALTM network protocol with signalling capability to subscribe for interconnect services and will delete all IP suite of network protocols. However, we still need to work using the existing Internet platform and environment. Thus TMALTM is also engineered with backward capability to the current Internet. This is accomplished by installing TMALTM drivers without deleting the IP network protocol.

Using Multimode-version Internet 2.0 protocol, one is able to operates over both internetworking platforms, concurrently. We believe our technology will provides unprecedented security and privacy the present IP-based Internet cannot deliver. It will enable secure internetworking capability for Internet of Things (IoT) and Applications on Internet (AoI) where security and privacy is paramount. We are in the process of developing TMALTM, and is seeking potential alliances and partnerships for the adoption of our technology.
