Middleweight DesignerJob Specification

We are searching for a talented, ambitious and hungry designer to join our studio in Shoreditch, London. The successful candidate will be keen to work as part of a small team with big ambitions. Working alongside our two Creative Directors, they will need to be comfortable being lead designer and in-turn managing multiple projects from concept to reality.

1-2 years of agency experience with a portfolio of live and personal projects is required.

This role is made for a designer eager to learn, develop and grow. Management of freelancers and future junior designers will be something that should really excite the potential candidate.

Who we’re looking for

We talk, think, research and strategise. We then design. And only ever in that order.

We work with established, international brands as well as the startups with ambitions of becoming exactly that.

These include the likes of POLPO, Franco Manca, Levi Roots and Sipsmith.

More than half of our clientele work in the food and drink arena - it’s an area we not only know well, but love. However, we have plenty of clients who work outside of that world. Regardless of sector, our ethos of understanding the brand and challenge first before designing anything remains. We are now looking for the next addition who wants to join the 48.1 team and grow with us.

How we work

Working closely with two Creative Directors, your projects will span a wide range of disciplines, sectors and challenges across print, digital and motion. You will be working in a small design team of four and will be expected to own certain projects from start to finish.

The job will require the delivery of ideas and concepts that combine intelligent creative and strategic understanding.

And an uncompromising eye for detail is a must – ensuring the same level of energy, care and love is applied to the final artworking stages of the process.

Your role

We are looking for someone who has a passion for design. A genuine love for type and image.

Confidence to communicate and idea and to work with a team.

An eye for detail.

A high level of competency in all creative suite software.A confidence to communicate and present to clients.

The skills we need

We promote and support all our team with their passions whether it be photography, videography, copywriting or coding.

So if you have something that would add another string to the studio’s bow, we’d love to hear about it. We have a musician a marathon runner and a rapper. If you could bring something else to the party, ideal.

The skills that would be nice

We need someone who is eager to learn and never afraid to ask questions.

You should have a passion for your work as well as an uncompromising level of attention to detail.An appreciation for strategy and research is crucial. They should be eager to look beyond design to find the right answer to execute a brief. Someone with a proactive nature and eagerness to work with others, bringing their own experiences and knowledge to the table. In short – if you love design, want to get better, love working in a small team and think joining a young, ambitious agency is the right next step - you know what to do.
