It has been another incredibly busy and rewarding term at Madeley School. I am delighted to share this latest edition of ‘Made in Madeley’ with you which celebrates and shares with you an array of notable highlights. I am sure that you will agree with me, that as you read through the articles, you will appreciate the diverse and enriching experience that students at the school continue to benefit from. All staff at the school are encouraged to provide experiences for our students that are truly memorable, raise aspirations and enable them to have fun with their learning. I strongly believe that this newsletter showcases our wonderful school as a place where holistic student development and academic excellence are treated as equal. Enrichment helps our students to develop their interests and abilities, provides valuable learning experiences outside their studies, and promotes independence and interpersonal links with students in other year groups and the wider community. I will continue to ensure that these experiences are accessible to all our students in order to benefit their broader knowledge and wider personal development and well-being. The activities range from individual careers and guidance interviews, to small workshop based activities to support our Year 11 students with their exam preparations and strategies to deal with stressful situations through to whole Year groups going out to visit a University to raise awareness and aspiration. This newsletter also highlights a summary of our revised student voice forum – ‘Madeley Parliament’. We regularly consult with our students to make their school even better and I am pleased to say that in our Parliament meetings they conduct themselves with far more integrity and dignity than our elected MPs at Westminster have demonstrated over recent months! Can I thank all parents who have fed back to me about the fortnightly Principal’s Post that is now being sent out. The aim is to provide a brief summary of the key events that have taken place across all year groups in school and to act as another means of communication with parents and families. All who have fed back have been positive and if you have any other ideas about how the school can enhance its communication then please give me a call. Can I encourage you all to follow the school on Twitter @madeleyschool where we regular tweet our activities and student achievement. A major highlight of this term has been our Ofsted Inspection, and can I thank the all the parents who took the time to complete the Ofsted survey. This was appreciated by the inspection team and helped them greatly in making their judgements. It was an intense process over two days which went exceptionally well and I look forward to sharing their findings and their judgments with you when the report is published, which increasingly looks like it will be in the new term. Can I thank you again for your tremendous support that you show to the school and I would like to wish you all a happy Christmas and New Year!

Hello, we are Faye and Ollie the Head Girl and Head Boy at Madeley School. We really hope that everyone has had a great start to the school year, during our first term. Many events have taken place this year that we, together with our united team of prefects have accommodated, including introducing new faces to our school for our prospective parents evening and students open evening. Many prefects helped us to guide everyone around, showing each and every aspect of the site. Both Ollie and I presented a speech welcoming and overviewing Madeley School and answered questions from parents and students throughout the evening. We hope to have these

fresh pupils and parents join our community next year. We would also like to thank our prefect team for creating a positive and successful start to this academic year as they have partaken in using their lunchtimes to patrol the corridors and have helped to run or set up their own club. The prefects have also decided to support the Douglas Macmillan charity along with an environmental charity we will proceed to raise money for in the near future. Furthermore, during our school’s Presentation Awards Evening, we witnessed some exceptional performances from some of our gifted students and had the opportunity to congratulate our over achieving, hard working students for their effort and enjoyment in learning. These performances also continued on the evening of our Madeley Christmas Concert where we saw students’ confidence grow and had the chance to congratulate their talents. Additionally, students from a range of year groups went on a week long trip to Germany where they learned about their culture and had the opportunity to put their language skills to the test along with making important memories. We also visited Wychwood Park Club and Golf Course where we decided the year 11 prom will take place next summer after they complete their GCSE’s which have very promising results after our recent mock exam results. We are currently setting up a prom committee to start raising money for prom to help all the costs. Our leavers hoodies have already been ordered for the year 11’s and we would like to thank Mrs Lee for organising the pricing and ordering of the hoodies after we chose an amazing design. Thank you for an enthusiastic start to the year. We would like to wish everyone a safe and Merry Christmas and a Happy

New Year! We look forward to an excellent term, filled with many more exciting events and continued progress and

success among our students.

The Peer Mentors have had a busy Autumn Term helping the Year 7 students settle into Madeley. Two Peer Mentors are attached to each Year 7 form. They are also helping some students to improve their reading skills and have been on hand to assist the Year 7 Form Tutors when required. They also supported the Anti-Bullying week in November delivering an outstanding assembly on this subject. On Thursday 19th December they will have the opportunity to see Aladdin at the Mitchel Art Theatre with the Y7 students. We very much value their contribution to the school.

Well Done!

From Madeley . . . to The Land of Fire & Ice! Who can say that they have stood with one foot in North America, and the other foot in Europe? Madeley pupils! . . . on our 2019 summer trip to the Land of Fire & Ice; ICELAND! Having arrived at Keflavik Airport near Iceland’s capital, Reykjavik, within 30 minutes we were driving across a lava field that looked like a lunar landscape towards the ‘Bridge Across the Continents’, which has been built to straddle the Mid Atlantic Ridge; the plate boundary between North America and Europe. For the next four days, we witnessed some of the most stunning natural landscapes that the world has to offer, as well as seeing and learning about how the cultural and human landscape of Iceland has developed, and how the Icelandic people have adapted to live in this extreme environment. Iceland’s waterfalls are breathtaking, and we experienced the mightiest: Gulfoss and Skogafoss. We watched the shooting, steam plumes of superheated water at Geysir and bathed in the geothermal hot pools at the Secret Lagoon. You are never far from a volcano in Iceland and we saw many, in addition to visiting the museum which stands at the foot of Eyjafjallajökull, the volcano which last erupted in 2010 sending plumes of ash over Europe, affecting flights and air travel for many days. The beaches in Iceland are made of black sand, formed from the erosion of the lava on land. From the safety of the beach at Reynisfjara we witnessed the giant Sneaker Waves as they crashed onto the shore; truly awe-inspiring. We also ventured up into the mountains from the coast to visit the magnificent glacier at Solheimajokull. Towards the end of the trip we drove through the Golden Circle over to the west of Iceland, which culminated in an hour spent inside an extinct volcano, and a walk to Thingvellir, the place where the Icelandic Parliament started in 930 A.D., during the time of the Vikings. On the final day, and after another very early start, we drove back to the airport as the sun rose over Iceland. Having passed the giant Hekla volcano at dawn, we arrived early enough to have a drive through the quiet capital city of Reykjavik as it awoke. The flight back to Manchester was a chance to catch up with some sleep! It was the trip of a lifetime for our students, and of course, as always, they were the perfectly be-haved, and a credit to their parents and our school. Special thanks to Mr Walker and Mrs Lee for organising the trip which was in association with Rayburn Tours. Review by Dr Curtis.

We regularly send information emails to parents and carers, if you do not currently receive these or if you need to update any of your contact details, please email us at [email protected] to update your details.

Congratulations to the Class of 2019 on a fantastic set of GCSE's! Madeley continues to be one of the leading schools in the area with another set of brilliant results. 81% of pupils achieved Maths at 4+, with 61% achieving 5+. English also performed well with 73% at 4+ and 60% at 5+. Science and Humanities were also very impressive, with strong Value Added scores. Furthermore, there was a good number of pupils achieving grades at 7+ across many subjects. Congratulations to all!! We are also expecting record breaking results from our current Year 11's....more to follow!

Year 11 have recently completed mocks, early indications are they have produced a healthy set of results. This should allow them to provide key data for mock applications over the next 2 months. As we get ever closer to final exams more after school booster sessions will take place. Please encourage your child to attend these important sessions. We are currently organising the end of year prom, there is a change of venue this year to Wychwood Park and students are requested to return their £5 deposit as soon as possible.

PLEASE NOTE Monday 6th January is an Inset Day and school is closed to pupils

School re-opens for pupils at 8.40am on Tuesday 7th January 2020

We hosted our Annual Open Evening on Wednesday 2nd October and both staff and students of Madeley

School were very proud to showcase what the school can offer. There was an great response from the

prospective parents during the evening and we are hopeful for high numbers for next year’s intake. At

6.00pm or 7.15pm there was a presentation from Mr Nixon, Principal and our Head Girl and Head Boy,

Faye and Ollie. Everyone was then invited to tour the school at their leisure to speak to both students and

staff.

This years presentation evenings were held for KS3 on Thursday 10th October and for the Class of 2019 on Thursday 14th November. Both evenings were well attended by pupils and some very proud parents. We had musical performances from S Gardiner, K McClew, I Pointon and A Hill. Well done to all the girls for their excellent performances. Our guest speakers this year were Joan Walley (Deputy Lieutenant for Staffordshire and MP for Stoke-on-Trent North 1987 -2015) and former pupil Eben Lovatt CEO at Moneysghake.com. Both gave a very inspiring speech to pupils and parents. It was lovely to catch up with the Class of 2019 after the awards were presented and to find out which courses they were doing at college since leaving Madeley. Congratulations to all the award winners.

Year 8 Cross Curricular Science and Art Trip The whole of year 8 had the opportunity to spend the day at the Potteries

Museum and Art Gallery where they delved into the archives and

exhibitions investigating how ceramics has helped the medical industry.

The students explored the spread of germs, what equipment was used to

grow penicillin and looked at different types of bacteria.

They then worked to create their own ceramic outcomes exploring the

physical properties of bacteria. It was a full on day but the students were

really engaged and produced some fantastic outcomes. We have stacks of

ceramic bacteria to fire and paint now.

Halloween Disco Year 8 ended the half term with a spooky Halloween disco. Everyone made a great effort with

their costumes including the staff. A great night was had by all!

Standon Bowers 39 students from Year 8 attended the annual trip to Standon Bowers in November. This year they took part in a range of outdoor activities such as bridge building, climbing, BMX, archery, high ropes course which included a 37 ft ‘Gladiator Challenge!, to which 1 pupil managed in a record 37 seconds! Scrambling at the Roaches in every weather you could imagine and caving at Alderley Edge. In 17 years of caving at Alderley Edge I have never had my wellies overflow with water! All pupils were fabulous and never complained, just got on with it, hot showers all round when we returned. The trip to Standon Bowers is all about team work, making new friends, supporting each other and facing up to our own personal challenges which they all excelled in.

At the end of October, 46 Year 9 pupils set off with Mrs Skelding, Mrs Lee, Miss Holmes and Mr Hardy for the annual enrichment trip to London. First stop was a tour of Wimbledon Lawn Tennis Club where pupils got to take their seats in centre court, experience what it is like to be involved in a press conference and learn the fascinating history of the sport. After filling up at Byron Burger in Covent Garden, the group headed to see the musical "Mamma Mia." By the end of the show everyone (well almost everyone!) was standing up, singing and dancing, cheering for the brilliant cast. Having exhausted themselves with ABBA, Year 9 and staff headed for the hotel for a well deserved rest. Following a hearty breakfast, the group made their way back into central London for screams and laughter in the London Dungeons. Mrs Skelding and Mr Hardy were relentlessly picked on by the actors, and were both tortured at various points, much to the amusement of the pupils. After the trauma of the Dungeons, a visit to the Natural History Museum was in order where the fascinating exhibits were enjoyed by all. Heading to Bella Pasta in Leicester Square we took in the sights and sounds of London at night before seeing an amazing production of "The Lion King." A truly wonderful experience. On the last day went to our traditional final stop at The Harry Potter Studios Tour. This is always a brilliant attraction but this year had many new additions, which everybody loved, including the Gringotts Dragon. A huge thank you to all of the parents and carers for allowing us to take your children on this wonderful visit, as well as to the pupils for their impeccable behaviour and positivity through-out. They were a credit their families and the school. Review by Mrs Skelding

The annual Christmas concert was a spectacle for all in attendance, as our pupils performed a range of Christmas songs and covers. All pupils involved performed tremendously well, with some of our year 7's performing at the school for the very first time, receiving outstanding applause for their performances. This concert also marked the final performances for our GCSE music pupils, who performed brilliantly. A fantastic effort by all of the students and staff who took part to put on a mesmerising show.

We are looking forward to our new cohort of Year

9’s getting started with their Bronze Award, we had

a very successful and well attended parents

meeting to brief them and set expectations, and I

am very excited about the prospective activities of

some of our students for their sections.

The review in the Summer Term will have an

update as to how they are getting on with their

hours. Good Luck!

There are also awards being approved on nearly a

daily basis for last years Bronze and Silver Cohorts,

we are confident that our Annual Presentation

Evening in the New Year will be a huge success,

with us presenting lots of well-deserved awards to

our young people!

On Monday 11th November, the Humanities and English team in support with other staff delivered an enrichment day to the whole of year 9 so that pupils could experience the diverse experiences that surrounded the First World War. All the pupils in year 9 were given a brief background about a person from the war and challenged to see the experiences of these individuals through various activities throughout the day. The pupils’ engagement was evident during the activities with particular enthusiasm shown for Mrs Snape’s food that emulated that available in WWI. In the afternoon the pupils were challenged to create their own image or poetry based on their persons’ experiences having found out more about the lives of those involved. Pupils worked diligently with the support of staff and produced outstanding work representing the individuals from all walks of life. Elsewhere, Mr. Green visited the Madeley war memorial with pupils and placed crosses in remembrance as part of the extra-curricular activities. Pupils also contributed by making an extraordinary video based on the life of relatives that truly represented how the First World War impacted on a vast amount of lives both close and far. Throughout this day the pupils behaved with the utmost respect and really did themselves and their school proud. At a time when we remember those who gave their lives, some of whom would have been no older than those pupils themselves; it made all the staff involved very proud to have such pupils representing Madeley High School. In remembrance for those who fought then and now, lest we forget.

Our Y10 pupils, having embarked on their GCSE courses this year, are now busily planning for their Work Experience placement in July 2020. The whole year group were given the opportunity to visit the NEC on the 21st December for: "The UK's biggest skills and careers event." The Skills Show was a 3 day event held from 21st November to 23rd November 2019 at the NEC Birmingham in Birmingham, United Kingdom. This event provided a platform to meet over 130 top local and national employers including Royal Mail, IBM, BAE Systems, NHS Careers, HS2, Airbus, Barclays and Toyota. They all offer top jobs, apprenticeships and training opportunities. Twelve Y10 pupils were invited to attend the Shaw Education Trust Graduation Event at Keele Hall on the 12th November. Y10 pupils from across the Trust represented their schools at this prestigious event, along with Mr Nixon and Mr Walker. Year 10 English Theatre Visit: A Christmas Carol Year 10 students were treated to a performance of the well known Dicken's novel A Christmas Carol. Dicken’s classic take of redemption is a lesson that got us into the holiday spirit by vividly dramatizing how greed and the pursuit of money can corrupt not only an individual but all of society. The adaptation will help students to understand the plot of the story plus we had open questions that the director and cast answered to help us understand the main themes and messages behind the allegorical tale. It definitely brought the text to life.

Photography Workshop Our year 10 GCSE Photography students got to

meet and work alongside professional

photographer Sam Ivin last week. They were very

excited to meet a practising photographer,

particularly Sam as they had been to see his work

in the Potteries Museum and Art Gallery. Sam was

able to discuss with them a typical pathway to

becoming a professional photographer as well as

his experiences, ideas and even where he gets

funding for his work from. He then led them

through accessing elements of their own identity,

including some meditation to start off with. They

worked diligently to produce hundreds of

portraits and self-portraits over the day even

when the Ofsted inspector, Shaw Trust Leaders

and Mr Nixon paid us a visit. The work produced

has been invaluable not only to improving their

confidence and skills behind a camera but in front

of one too.

Over the festive season it is likely ‘Santa’ will bring many of our students a technology gift in the form of new phones, tablets, computers and smart TVs. The Safeguarding team at Madeley would like to remind Parents/ carers that you can help to protect children in the following ways:

• Wherever possible ensure your child uses these devices in ‘open areas’ of the house. If a student is allowed to use devices in the bedroom then encourage an open door as this is often the safest

compromise. • Speak to your child about safe and responsible use of the internet and social media use. • Put in place time limits for use of devices. Recent surveys have highlighted extensive over use of

devices can affect youngsters mental health. • When buying new devices discuss with those selling devices any advice on internet safety or any

available software they may have to support safety. • Ensure your child has the appropriate filter settings on any social media site they visit. • Always encourage open, healthy conversations about internet use so that your child can approach you

with any concerns that they may have.

Further advice can be found on our school website at http://madeleyschool.org/parents/parent-guide-to-internet-safety

Year 7 pupils have got off to a flying start at Madeley and have proved to have the makings of an excellent year group. Their attendance has been consistently above 96%, despite lots of bugs and illness over recent weeks! Their behaviour is exemplary with a positive behaviour score of 99% over the whole term, which is outstanding! They have taken opportunities presented to them and have signed up for cheerleading, drama, war hammer club, netball, volleyball, football, table tennis, art and eco club, plus many more. They have received a total of nearly 1000 points on Class Charts for extra-curricular activities which is fantastic! The challenge now is to beat that in the Spring Term. In terms of contributions to charity Year 7 have outdone themselves, firstly with the MacMillan Coffee Morning before half term (see full report later in the newsletter) and with over 90 pupils taking part in Christmas Jumper Day supporting Save the Children, Year 7 also ran a penny challenge, raising over £100 collecting spare change from everyone throughout the school day. We are hoping to continue supporting our charitable causes in the New Year. Well done Year 7! On Wednesday 18th December Year 7 will be having a Christmas Film and Hot Chocolate during Lesson 5 as a treat for their outstanding start, we will also be visiting the Pantomime `Aladdin’ at The Mitchel Arts Theatre on the 19th December. We are all looking forward to the show. Congratulations Year 7 on an outstanding start to Madeley School life! Keep up the great work!

Late in the evening on 1th December, 39 sleepy students met to embark on an exciting visit to Cologne, Germany, for our 2019 European Christmas Markets visit. A short 13 hour coach ride taking in the sights of the M25, the white cliffs of Dover as we sailed towards France, and everything Belgian and Dutch motorway services had to offer. Once we checked-in, we dashed out to our first Christmas market. Twinkling lights, happy chatter, Christmassy smells and general festive joy awaited us in a truly magical setting – and we were just getting started! Day 2 saw us march our way into Cologne city-centre, where some of us braved the 533 steps of the spiral staircase to viewing platform some 100m (330ft) from the ground. The views were spectacular! We popped swiftly down the river Rhine, stopping off at the Lindt chocolate factory with its endless free samples and giant chocolate fountain. And who could forget our river cruise where we not only met St. Nikolaus, but also sang “Jingle Bells” on stage with him in front of some very grateful German tourists. Day 3 saw some students and staff alike facing their fears of g-force in the phenomenal theme park “Phantasialand”. The twists and turns of “Fear or Force”, the corkscrew loops of the “Black Mamba” and of course the legendary “Taron”. And finally our journey home saw us looking after someone from another tour group as a student found a lonely passport in a Belgian service station – Oh Janet! The staff from the trip would like to thank all the students for their exemplary behaviour during the

trip and we wish you all “Frohe Weihnachten”.

Behaviour for Learning The introduction this year of the behaviour for learning weekly focus is having a very positive impact. It allows pupils to have a focus for the week and to remind them of our expectations for behaviour. We would like to thank parents for supporting us on these weekly focuses too as you reinforce these expectations at home. We have also updated our behaviour for learning policy to fall in line with the use of the Class Charts software and have added a homework part to this. This will be available to see on the school website after the Academy Council have ratified this during their meeting this week. Class charts Just a reminder that we continue to use class charts and ask that you check it regularly. The information provides you with attendance, behaviour, detentions and now a new communication tool that Class Charts has introduced. After an initial usage this is proving to be very effective. Safeguarding Our commitment to safeguarding remains as strong as ever with all our designated safeguarding leads trained to the highest levels and are up to date. All the staff at Madeley are trained to level 1 standard and are currently all training at an accredited level 2 course via a website called 'Flick Learning'. We continue to share safeguarding information with pupils via lessons, form time, assemblies and lessons to ensure they are up to date with the latest safeguarding issues and how to deal with anything they come across.

Year 7 and 8 recently took part in a campaign to raise first aid awareness with teenagers. Madeley First Responder volunteers delivered the training session for all of our year 7s and 8s. They learnt how to manage difficult situations where someone may have collapsed or be unresponsive. Students learnt vital skills in order to keep an individual alive, until paramedics could arrive. A valuable skill in any emergency situation.

Once again during this Autumn term lots of fabulous fundraising has taken place by our staff and students.

Food Bank - You have being doing a great job of collecting items for our local Food Bank, the food will be distributed to families in the local area and will be greatly appreciated—so a big thank you!

Christmas Jumper Day - On Friday 13th December we once again supported the Save the Children Charity by wearing our Christmas jumpers and donating £1 on the day to this fantastic charity.

An amazing £168 was raised so well done everyone!

Launch of the Madeley Book, Meet & Eat Club All students in KS3 have been invited to take part in this exciting opportunity. The new book group is very much a student lead group where they will choose the books they want to read. Every 3 weeks the group will meet to discuss the book, argue their views and learn the skill of debating to persuade others of their ideas. The group will also be joining the nationwide Carnegie Book Medal where we will read the shortlisted titles and enter as a school the student's opinions of the book. It's not too late to join and we always welcome new members. For more information see Mrs Mitchell (English) Eco Warrior Club is now up and running. The team have been busy identifying areas in school where we can be more environmentally conscious. Successes so far include: Launch of old stationery recycling house competition - boxes are not in year 7 form rooms and the winners for December will be announced next week! Commitment from the canteen to eliminate plastic utensils and plates from lunchtimes. Thanks to the very supportive Mrs G and her team we are now working through the last few remaining plastic forks - the wooden ones are here! This term in Design and Technology students have been involved in many different opportunities to improve their skills and knowledge during lessons and extra curricular clubs. The launch of the Young Engineer Of the Year Award took place at Newcastle Under Lyme College. This year we will be conducting experiments in space. Year 10 heard about apprenticeships during an assembly with KMF Ltd. The Lego League team have been busy developing their challenges and robots to compete in the finals in January. The DofE engineers raced at Aintree in the GreenPower Event against many school from the North West. Mrs Snape ran the Christmas Cake competition for all year groups. Both year 7 and year 8 learned more about STEM from BAE Systems during their roadshow visit.

I'm Lexi and my passion in life is horses. I've recently been away to a 4 day show at Aintree Racecourse, Liverpool. This year i had to attend shows and accumulate points to qualify for STARS champion of champions, I was over the moon to hear that myself and Boo- a 5 year old welsh section C- were able to go! I have owned Boo for almost 2 years now, I have trained her from scratch myself. It's been really hard work but we're beginning to get rewards now. Our bond is amazing now we look forward to chasing more qualifiers for dressage and showjumping throughout the winter season.

European Day of Languages As part of the school's celebration of the European Day of Languages, 26th September, Year 7s were given an open-ended homework task to research and express their findings via a poster, game, quiz or any other media they chose. There have been many excellent responses but the one which 7AZ enjoyed the most were the delicious European flag biscuits made by J Weller. Well done to everyone!

On Friday 4th of October year 7 and year 8 pupils participated in the Macmillan coffee morning. Members of staff and pupils contributed on the day, either bringing in shop bought or baked cakes to sell. Wherever the cakes came from, they were greatly enjoyed by all. Each one of the pupils took responsibility when the visitors arrived. Some pupils welcomed visitors, some took coffee and cake orders and others were making coffee and encouraging people to donate. Some pupils made an extra effort and decided to put on a mini entertainment show! The atmosphere in the hall was warm and welcoming. Visitors started arriving around 9.30 a.m. All parents and members of the local community were invited to join us. The turnover was amazing and all the cakes were flying off the table! Everyone enjoyed the refreshments and it was lovely to chat to people of all ages. The last visitor left at about 12 p.m. and there were hardly any cakes left. There was a wide range of cakes provided by pupils including Victoria sponges, cupcakes and even cheese cakes. We even spotted one of our teachers having a second piece of cake which made us all giggle. The coffee morning was a great success and we were excited to learn that we had raised over £300 for the Macmillan Cancer support. Sadly, cancer affects the lives of many families, so we were extremely proud to support this wonderful charity that offers invaluable support to people who needs them. U14 Boys Round 1 of the County Cup saw Madeley drawn at home against Sir Graham Balfour. Both teams applied pressure from the kick off and tried to attack their opponents. Four goals in normal time was enough to win the game 4-2 with man of the match performances from I Cogher, H Kettle and Al Southwick-Williams. Girls Football A busy term for the girls football with the after-school club being well supported and some competitions to reward the girls commitment. U16s league – the girls started their Newcastle Schools League at Chesterton with a depleted squad due to illness but battled well. Hopefully the January fixture will be with a full strength squad.

English Football League competition with Stoke City – year 7

and 8 - A popular event among local schools meant our two

teams had a very competitive and cold November day. Our

year 7s battled well in their inaugural competition for Madeley

and our more experienced year 8s managed to score 12 goals

across four matches, finishing top of their group and through to

the semi finals. Unfortunately a tough and closely fought game

meant that they lost to the eventual winners.

Newcastle Schools Futsal – Year 8s/9s - This annual event is always

well attended by locals schools providing a very busy morning with 10

teams competing.

On this occasion, despite some outstanding performances, we did not

make it to the finals, finishing fourth.
