the MeNa region basks in sunshine with average solar radiation levels reaching 2,500 kWh - 2,800 kWh per square metre per year. While petroleum may be the dominant energy source around the world, the MeNa region is seizing the initiative in developing and implementing solar energy.

tHe Mena soLar BooM Has BeGUnin 2010, energy ministers from algeria, Morocco and tunisia met in algiers with eu energy Commissioner Günther Oettinger to accelerate the process of integrating electricity markets there. By establishing the regulatory frameworks needed to promote solar development, this historical meeting was also the first step towards linking the MeNa and european markets. equally important, it began the process of defining a path for investors, corporations, and entrepreneurs eager to get into the MeNa solar market.

JoIn tHe rUsH For neW deVeLoPMentWith a saturated CSp market in Spain, obstructive regulatory issues in the uSa, and the number of optimal sites for CSp project development dwindling, solar developers are moving aggressively to take advantage of the opportunities in the MeNa region.

the Med Grid will see the installation of 5.5GW of CSp and nearly 1GW of pV solar in North africa and the Middle east. Saudi arabia has also announced plans to build a new renewable-energy city. altogether, total investment for CSp in North africa is expected to reach $5.6 billion - triple the current amount.

and that’s just the beginning. qatar recently established a joint venture to enter the MeNa pV solar power market, while first energy Bank and Saudi investors are drawing up plans to build a state-of-the-art $1bn polysilicon plant. the 10 MW solar plant in Masdar is now the Middle east’s largest grid connected pV plant - while kauSt’s 2MW rooftop installation is the first and largest solar installation in Saudi arabia.

MenasoL 2011: WHere aLL tHe eLeMents oF sUCCess Meet MeNaSOl was created to provide a forum and optimum networking environment for the solar industry in the MeNa region. attendance is an absolute requirement for every person

dIsCoVer HoW to MInIMIZe FInanCIaL rIsks With investors concerned about limited MW’s on the ground as well as regional political stability, financial hurdles in MeNa solar development are perilous. at MeNaSOl 2011, you will hear how banks, venture capitalists, equity investors, and international organisations see the situation and what they need in order to invest in MeNa solar projects. Most importantly, you will learn how to win their valuable support.

see tHe sHaPe oF tHe FUtUre – CsP, PV, or...? CSp, CpV, thin film, and Crystalline Silicon all need to meet MeNa-specific technical requirements to succeed in that region. With a CSp and pV technology track, at MeNaSOl 2011 you will discover the critical technical and engineering details needed to achieve a successful project. You will also get valuable tips on building solar solutions that are technically suitable to a country’s solar resources.

Get tHe ansWers yoU need at MenasoL 2011Without a doubt, the MeNa region is on the fast track to becoming a center of solar power innovation and generation. there are challenges, including regulatory hurdles, financial issues, solar resource, and technical problems.

But there are solutions - and you will find them at MeNaSOl 2011.

You will be immersed in two information-packed days of country-specific solar presentations, case studies, and workshops. You will get tips, strategies, real-life lessons, and the best practice guides you need to jump start your project directly from policy makers, investors, and world-leading technology experts.
