Mitchell Community College Student Ambassadors Description of Program

REQUIREMENTS Must be enrolled in a minimum of three (3) curriculum classes with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5

(New students without a GPA must submit a high school transcript and have an un-weighted cumulative GPA of 2.5)

Be sensitive and responsive to diverse audiences Comfortable with public speaking Possess an outgoing personality and have school pride Exhibit leadership and initiative: be dependable, display self-discipline and confidence Be available during the day to attend trainings, meetings and conduct tours Have the ability to work some evening and/or weekend events Have reliable transportation for off-campus events Be in good standing with the VP of Student Services office

JOB DUTIES AND EXPECTATIONS Attend Student Ambassador training days Attend monthly Student Ambassador meetings Leading campus tours Assisting at college functions – receptions, open houses, orientations, special events Assisting with college recruitment activities Participate at college development events Be the face of the college for marketing/advertising materials

BENEFITS Build valuable leadership skills, better understand group dynamics, and develop professional

communication skills Opportunity to share personal stories about his/her success as a student and what it is like to attend

Mitchell Community College Enhance interpersonal skills and business office protocol Meet, interact, and network with other students, faculty and community members Gain invaluable resume-building experience Acquire Mitchell Community College school paraphernalia Obtain complimentary meals during trainings and special events Receive financial compensation for his/her service to the college

COMPENSATION Student Ambassadors will receive a monthly stipend. TRAINING Student Ambassadors will participate in ongoing training and development throughout the Fall and Spring semesters. Training will be mandatory and will include topics facilitated by guest presenters or through attendance at leadership conferences. Topics to be addressed will include: public speaking, interpersonal communications, business etiquette, professional dress, team building, dealing with conflict, and leadership development.
