What are universities for?

This is one of the most crucial questions of our time.

Beyond academic excellence, cross cultural studies and a very pragmatic approach, the European School of Economics aims to fa-cilitate in each and every student a process of inner revolution, encouraging personal development through self-study and indi-vidual research into self-knowledge.

No political party, religion or philosophi-cal system can transform society from the outside. Only an individual revolution, a psychological re-birth, a healing of the in-ner self, man by man, cell by cell, will take us towards individual freedom, global well-being and peace.

01 _MASTER YOUR LIFE _President’s Message

We need new schools... schools of respon-sibility for men and women who have a dream to realise. We need universities for pragmatic dreamers.

They’ll be the leaders of a new exodus... a “psychological exodus” of planetary proportions... Thousands of young people will abandon the slavery of the confl ictual logic of the old humanity in exchange for a vertical vision of a world founded on the ability to harmonise antagonisms.

Elio D’Anna, President

from “The School for Gods”

Welcome to the European School of Economics, Prof. Stefano D’Anna.

Our MissionOur mission is to develop outstanding people equipped with the personal qualities, attitudes, skills and knowledge to spur change and to cre-ate and lead the organisations of the future.

The MBA programme aims to:

Invest all that you have andalso all that you do not have yet, on yourself. You will see that your life will amplify and enrich itself in every sense. If you bet on yourself, life will bet on you.

T

• Assist students in clarifying what they want out of life, and help them build their “dream”

• Provide a broad education with a global perspective

• Create a concrete bridge between academic experience and a professional career • Instill values of courage, respect and individual responsibility

• Inspire students to be pro-active, and respond creatively to challenges and change • Educate students in the principles that guide business behavior and to inquire into the nature of moral judgments and rules of conduct

• Develop criteria for evaluating the feasibilty and sustainability of business ventures

For the past 20 years ESE’s educational mission has been to provide society with what it most needs today: visionary leaders, pragmatic dreamers, unique individuals. We endeavour to educate highly capable men and women that will excel in today’s global economy, while maintaining a sense of integrity and responsibility for themselves and the world they live in.

With centres in three countires and pupils comimg from more than 60 nations, ESE oers its students a unique and challenging learning environment, enriched by the philosophy of the school, a system of vital ideas for the preparation of excellent individuals. At the core of the ESE philosophy is an understanding that responsibility and commitment can only be total, the individual is uniquely born to do what he loves, and the dream is the most real thing there is.

The rare and exceptional individual is capable of both discerning his Dream, as well as developing it - nurturing and defending this singular purpose, believing in it with all his strength, and paying whatever price necessary to

turn it into reality. Our civilization owes everything to these individuals - these are the leaders of tomorrow.

ESE is a forge that prepares individuals to be leaders, one by one, cell by cell; conventional education cannot do this. Beyond the aim of providing students with a highly practical, interdisciplinary, and international education, the ESE postgraduate programme prepares its students in corporate longevity for the identication and development of these critical organisational success factors. This unique programme encompasses self-discovery and personal develop-ment to help students identify their strengths, encourage entrepreneurial qualities and explore yet unknown realities such as Integrity, Timelessness, and Fearlessness as essential qualities of leadership in business.

The ESE MBA graduate—prepared by our unique international environment and curriculum, adept at self-study, and equipped with self-knowledge and integrity—has a truly unbeatable competitive edge in today’s global job market.

11 _INTERNATIONAL MBA PROGRAMME _ MBA Curriculum

Learning Method

ESE employs an active learning methodology, especially suitable for MBA coursework, which must eectively blend theory and practice. The basic elements of active learning (talking, listening, writing, reading) are employed inside and outside of the classroom. Student assign-ments include individual activities, paired activities, informal small group sessions, andcooperative student projects. Students primarily work in groups so as to develop essential teamwork and leadership skills.

Leadership, Governance, and Corporate Sustainability Module

This module underpins the unique philosophy of ESE with the aim of developing essential skills in self-evaluation, discovery, and growth as applied to leadership. This “long-thin” module, which stretches across the duration of the MBA programme, has a unique objective of assisting students in discovering what they are uniquely suited for through a process of self-analysis.

The rationale behind this module is binary: rstly, business leadership requires comprehen-sive, multi-disciplinary knowledge of manage-ment and the various business functions; secondly, business leadership requires an experiential understanding of the personal implications of leadership—what it means to be a leader of one’s self and of others.

Students will be introduced to cutting edge sustainability and leadership practices and will approach these themes from multiple perspectives, ranging from psychology, philosophy, sociology and cross-cultural studies. Students will explore various topics relative to leadership and governance, such as the evolution of value systems and motivation, stages of human development and drivers, and various individual, organizational and even societal leadership styles. This comprehensive approach enables students to integrate their background in business in management with a new perspective of personal and organizational leadership, governance and sustainability.
