We are proud of our staff and students and their accomplishments this school year! Thank you for your continued support – this first year as a principal has been rewarding, much thanks to you. We look forward to seeing you at our upcoming events as the school year comes to a close. Piper Riddle, Principal Students Asked to Design Next Year’s School TShirt Calling all our future Picassos. Next year the PTA would like to use student artwork on our school T-shirts. Every student will receive a free T-shirt to wear during our Draper Dash and Spirit Days. Students in grades K-4 are invited to submit art for the contest. Please follow these submission guidelines: - The art/logo must say “Draper Dragons” - It may be hand drawn, painted or computer generated - Please submit it on 8x11 size paper - Our PTA theme for next year is “Changing the world one student at a time.” The art can reflect this theme but doesn’t have to. - Please print your full name and phone number on the back of the entry. The deadline for submission is May 23. The winner will be selected by the PTA Board and will win a zip hoodie. The Draper PTA reserves the right to manipulate the image to best fit the shirt and may change the coloring to best fit the color of the T-shirt. Retro Mix It Up Recess The PTA is planning a “retro” Mix It Up recess on May 21 during lunch recess. Parents are invited to come and teach students the games they played when they went to elementary school. This is a great opportunity for parents to come and play with the students and show them how to interact with other children and play new games. If they have any ideas or would like to volunteer for that day, beginning at 11:30 a.m., please email Aimee Mouille, [email protected]. Dragon Fitness Testing The PTA thanks those who volunteered to help with our Dragon Fitness Testing this year. Draper’s program replaced the Presidential Fitness Program that had significant changes this year and increased in costs. The students were tested in the Fall and Spring on push-ups, sit-ups, sit-and-reach, and a timed run. The students will earn the Dragon Fitness Award if they improved in two or more of these categories. The PTA will award medals to the top boy and girl in each grade who scored the best in each category. Dewey’s Diary Draper Elementary PTA Newsletter

MyON Digital Library Draper Elementary is investing in your students by providing access to myON reader, a new digital library with hundreds of digital books at http://myon.com/! MyON reader can be accessed anywhere in school, at home, or wherever there is Internet access! Students and parents can access these digital books for individual reading, homework, research, and fun. Student login information was sent home last week, but please contact your teacher if you need that information again. We want all of our students to have access to these digital books! The login website is: http://myon.com/login/ This reading program is available from now through the end of August (great for summer reading!). We will evaluate the success of the program then to determine if we will continue to implement. Library Books Due May 16 All Draper library books are due Friday, May 16. Please help your children locate missing books so that their library records can be cleared. Checks for replacement costs may be made out to Draper Elementary School. Report Cards Report cards will be sent home with your child on the last day of school, Wednesday, June 4. We encourage you to review the report with your child and make plans to continue enjoyable educational experiences during the summer months.

President’s  Message   The school year is almost over, and I want to express my gratitude to the entire T.E.A.M. of parents, PTA board, teachers, staff and Principal Riddle. Being involved in the PTA has allowed me to meet a lot of great people that truly care about the children at this school! I love the children at Draper Elementary; they are amazing students and have the potential to do great things with their lives! Our students have a great T.E.A.M. of mentors (parents, teachers, etc.) to help them believe in themselves and reach that potential! JoAnna Meyer is the PTA president for next year. Please plan to help her and the rest of the PTA Board however you can! Together Everyone Achieves More! Thanks T.E.A.M.! Have a great summer! −Kerri Brown, 2013-14 PTA President [email protected]
