WARNING UNHEEDED
Many years ago, the steamer Portland left Boston harbor when all the danger signals were flying. The weather was stormy. The government agent in the signal office had advised all vessels to remain in port. The captain of the Portland was heedless of all warnings. Before sailing he said to the
keeper of the lighthouse, ―Keep your light burning brightly tonight. We may come back!‖ But, neither he, his crew, nor his vessel came back! When they were just outside the harbor, a mighty storm broke in fury. The vessel was torn to pieces. Not one on board ever saw friends or loved ones again. The shores of time are strewn with moral and spiritual wrecks, men and women who defiantly went in their own willful ways with no thought of God, and no sense of need of His directing, molding hand. Lest we make a shipwreck of our lives, may this be our daily prayer:
Jesus Savior Pilot me, Over life’s tempestuous sea! (Copied)

BENEVOLENCE FUND
The Benevolence Fund is a fund to help people in need, especially our church family. We helped in the amount of $9,682.07 in the year of 2013. Most of this was for members of our church family that had special needs. Already in 2014 we have given $2,716.00. As you can see this has left our Benevolence Fund almost empty. If you feel that you would like to help replenish this fund, please make checks to the church with notation for Benevolence Fund. Thanks, Shirley Jones!

Be assured that if God waits longer than you could wish, it is only to make the blessing doubly precious. God waited four thousand years, till the fullness of time, ere He sent His own Son. Our times are in his hands; He will avenge His elect speedily; He will make haste for our help, and not delay one hour too long. (Copied)

ANNOUNCEMENTS AND INFORMATION May 18, 2014
April 8, 2012
Today, we’ll conclude our series on ―Club Hero – Leadership‖. The Bible describes our life on earth as a race. There are different kinds of races: some are sprints and some are marathons. God’s race for us is like a marathon; it isn’t accomplished quickly. The things God has called leaders to do will be things they will do for a life time; our races aren’t finished until we get to heaven. There are three important things to remember when running your race: Life is a marathon, not a sprint. You will make mistakes. Forget the past, get back up and keep running. Thank You for supporting the Russellville Church of God Children’s Ministries.
VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL – JUNE 22- 27
The Whole Robertson gang of Duck Dynasty loves the parables that Jesus told in the Bible. Christ was a powerful storyteller, and He knew how to get to the heart and mind of a person with the stories He told! Faith Commander VBS is filled with these stories of Jesus—as told through the modern day exploits of the Robertson family. Each day, children will have the opportunity to learn more about these stories of Jesus through music, games, arts and crafts, activities, and more! Note: If you’re interested in helping, please attend the VBS meeting in the large room upstairs immediately following the morning worship service TODAY.

Pastor Jonathon’s Word of The Week (A Picture of Serving God) ―As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord‖ (Joshua 24:15). What does that mean? ▪ It means to do what he says in a way that makes him look supremely valuable in himself. ▪ It means to submit to him in a way that makes him look thrilling. There are ways to submit to God that only make him look threatening, not thrilling. There are ways to do what he says that only call attention to the fact that he is an authority not a treasure. That kind of service is not the service God commands. What’s the difference? The difference is that God has told us not to serve him as though he needed anything. ―He is not served by human hands, as though he needed anything, since he himself gives to all mankind life and breath and everything‖ (Acts 17:25). ―The Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many‖ (Mark 10:45). Both these texts put all the emphasis on God’s giving to us when we serve. So the kind of service that makes God look valuable and thrilling is the kind that serves God by constantly receiving from God. The key text to describe this is 1 Peter 4:11 ―Whoever serves, [let it be] as one who serves by the strength that God supplies—in order that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ.‖ We receive this supply by faith. That is, we trust moment-by-moment that what we need, in serving him, he will supply (―life, breath, and everything‖). This is the opposite of being anxious. Such serving is happy. And it makes God look no less authoritative, but infinitely more desirable. This is the glory he means to have. The giver gets the glory. Therefore, ―serve the Lord with gladness‖ (Psalm 100:2).
