Mata Gujri Ji…
Mata Gujri Ji (1624-1705)was the wife of Ninth Sikh Guru,Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji and the
mother of the Tenth Guru,Guru Gobind Singh Ji. She was the wife of a supreme martyr, mother
of a brave saint soldier and the grandmother of four amazing children who attained martyrdom at
the age of 6,9,14 and 18 years respectively .She supported Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji when he was in
deep meditation for years together. After the martyrdom of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji,as a single
parent, she raised and moulded the founder of Khalsa fraternity ,the Great Guru Gobind Singh
Ji .
The embodiment of supreme sacrifice, this noble supreme soul, was born in the year 1627, at
Kartarpur (Punjab). Inspired by her great father, Bhai Lal Chand Ji, she took to serving the poor
and the downtrodden. She represented a glowing example of noble qualities of patience, self-
sacrifice and devotion. Mata Gujri Ji was married to Shri Tegh Bahadurji, the 9th Guru, who
meditated for 21 years, 3 months and 17 days.
Principal’s Message :
It gives me immense pleasure to welcome all the students of Under-graduate and Post-graduate
courses and other courses to the academic year 2020-21. Our college, enjoying a total
autonomous status for the last few years, has recently been upgraded and placed at ‘A+’ Grade
by the National Assessment & Accreditation Council. I am duty-bound to thank the
Management, the Staff and the Students for these achievements. It is with a sense of in-depth
honour, pride and privilege, that I introduce the family of Mata Gujri Mahila Mahavidyalaya to
you.
Since the inception 26 years ago, Mata Gujri Mahila Mahavidyalaya has grown from a group of merely
31 students to a diverse and bustling community of over 5000 students. The journey began in 1994, and
over the decades, we have crossed many milestones, logged in numerous achievements and carved out a
niche for ourselves in the academic arena. MGMM has been able to constantly reinvent its own identity
primarily through the influx of hundreds of bright and talented girls every year. M.G.M.M. has remained
steadfast to one central commitment, i.e. women empowerment in letter and spirit. The motto of the
College "Truth is high, and higher then truth is truthful life", is reflected through providing value
based education and for imparting idles of academic excellence, sense of discipline, high moral and
ethical values leading to the development of integrated and empowered young women.
At MGMM, the educational community strives for excellence by preparing students for learning
beyond their college years and assisting them to become lifelong learners, as well as helping
them to be self-directed and responsible decision makers in this ever-changing world. The
college presents a happy blend of traditional and modern education where knowledge is imparted
to the students so that they may occupy a better place in the modern competitive world and
develop all round personality by retaining the beauty of mind and intellect as well as the soul. It
has made its mark in academic, sports and cultural fields. We foster an educational environment
that emphasizes individual attention, self-esteem and personal responsibility. We make every
effort to transform students into rational thinkers, competent workers, law abiding citizens and
spiritually enlightened individuals. This is my firm belief that the rich values and traditions
imbibed here would carry students to greater heights.
Not only is knowledge imparted but opportunities are provided whereby the students learn and
test the applicability of the knowledge acquired. Our pedagogy is technology integrated to
enhance the understanding of inter–linkage between theory and practice. The needs of the
contemporary society have propelled us to impart education that is both qualitative and
quantitative. With an extremely dedicated set of teachers and support staff and an excellent
infrastructure, the college ensures that the students are provided with the best environment to
learn and grow in. MGMM has consistently produced excellent results and its alumni have made
their place in distinguished organizations in India & overseas.
We’re humbled as we stand strong today with
5000+ students and over 150+ teachers, having
completed a quarter century of service, bringing
world-class education to women in the city of
Jabalpur. Our endeavour has been and continues
to be – to exceed expectations and bring about
excellence in what & how we teach.
I am sure, this college will play a meaningful role in the competitive times ahead and scale newer
heights. I pray to God Almighty for its future growth and prosperity. May God give each one of
us strength to work harder to achieve our goals. I wish all our new students every success in their
education, to those returning to another year, continued success….
