    TheFinalMastersProjectisanindividualprojectinwhichstudentsinvestigateasettheme.Themesarechosenbystudentswithinaresearchframeworkagreedwiththefaculty.TheFinalMastersProjectculminatesinanopenpresentationdeliveredbystudentsduringtheFinalExam.

    Whenapplicable,collaborationwithCompaniesissetforthe

    FinalMasterProject.Thefocusremainsontheeducationalside,givingprioritytotheeffectivestudentslearningwhencarryingoutaprojectinaclose-to-realityenvironment.Companiesrepresentativesprovidefeedbackstostudents,moderatedbyFaculty,andtheyshouldrepresentanadditional

    opportunityforstudentstosetarealitycheckabouttheirownapproachtodesignprofessions.

    ThemaingoaloftheassesmentsystemistomonitorhowstudentsdevelopethedesignandtechnicalcompetenciesrequiredtobeawardedanAcademicMaster.

    Assessmentisdonebyevaluatingeachstudentwitha1to30markgivenattheendofeveryworkshop,andthroughaqualifyingexaminationgivenattheendofeachtheoriccourse.Theadmissionmarktothenalexamiscalculatedbyarithmeticaveragewhichtakesinconsiderationallthemarks

    takenaftereachworkshop.Studentswillreceive0-110(pass70orabove)asoverallevaluation.TheDiplomaExaminationBoardmayawardup10pointsfortheFinalProject.HonoursmaybeawardedonthebasisoftheBoardassessmentofstudyprograms,dissertationsandportfolios.

    Openspacesareelementsoftheurbanlandscapethatarenolesscomplexandarticulatedthanbuildingsandtheinfrastructuresthatmakeuptheurbantissue.

    Instartingoffwiththisconsideration,theworkshoppromotesaprocessofanalysis,understandinganddesigndealingwithresearchtopicsandprojectareasabletoincludeand

    expressallthecomplexitythatacollectivepublicspacemay

    containinternally.Complexsystems,suchasroads,squares,parksetc.aswellasfragilesystems,suchaswatercourses,archaeologicalsites,wildlifereserves,coastlinesetc.can

    becomethesubjectofthedesignproject.Studentsareaskedtoorganizeanddesignpartsofopenspacesthatarepartofanaturalorextraurbancontext,orplacedin

    urbangaps.Therefore,thisworkshopprovidestheabilitytoidentifydifferenttypesofopenspaces-urban,extraurbanoragricultural,andtocriticallyevaluatethelandscapeelementsthatneedtobemaintained,re-designedorregenerated;toformulateaprojectproposalcapableofcombiningspatialcomplexity,socialandculturalimplications,environmentalandenergeticissues.

    Whenarchitecturalinterventionisrequired,itisimpossibleto

    neglecturbanconcerns,territorialneedsandsocialtendencies.Nowadays,architecturalprojectscanbeseenlikedesignobjectswithinthecity,andthereforeitbecomesimportant

    topromoteacorrectapproachtoarchitecturewithinanurbancontext,notjustfromadesignpointofview,butalsotakingintoconsiderationtheelementsthatmakeuptheurbanspacearoundarchitecture.Theworkshopreproducesacompletedesignprocessthataimstodeneanarchitecturalinterventionwithintheurbantissue.Itwillenhancetheabilitytoimaginearchitecturalprojectsasdevicescapableofdesigningportionsofurbantissuebyinterpretingthephysical,cultural,

    economicalandsocialfeatures.

    Thereisalsoanincampusinternshipthattakesplaceover

    Studentswillneedtoproduceacoherentbodyofworkthatreectsadevelopingpersonalintegrityandachievesahighleveloftechnicalskill.Theywillneedtodevelopanindividualapproachtotheresearchanddevelopapersonalinvestigation,planningandwritingofanalreport.Studentswillbeexpectedtoshowaclearrelationshipbetweentheirresearch,textandpracticalworkpresentedfortheMasters

    presentation.Theyareexpectedtoreectcriticallyontheir

    ownpracticesaswellasonthatofothers,byexploringandidentifyingthecontextoftheirownworkwithintheareaofUrbanVision&ArchitecturalDesign.

    Collaborationwithcompaniesand/ordesignersisintendedtoaddrealvalueandlinkstotheeld,whilestillmaintainingstudentsfreedomasfarastheselectionanddevelopmentofa
