Candidacy Announced

MILO MAN RECEIVES GRANT FOR RESEARCH

Forn1er Assistant Attorney General wayne Hollingsworth said todaythathewill be a candidate for the Maine Attorney Gen.eral post when the 103rd Legislature convenes next January.

"While n~y candidacy for this responsible office depends upon Republican control of the 1967 Legislature, I am confident that the GOP will re-gain its former position of leadership following this year's elections," Hollingsworth said.

The 33 year old Augusta attorney represented several state departments during his terrr as an Assistant Attorney General including the Departments of Agriculture Tnland Fisheries and Game, Sea and Shore Fisheries and State Police.

In 1965 the Augusta Junior Chamber of Comn1erce selected Hollingsworth as the Capital City's "Outstanding Young Man of the Yea_r". The same year, he was naned the outstanding "Chail~ manoftheYear" by the State JayCees and was listed in the or ­ganization's "Outstanding Young Men of America" 1965 book.

In 1963, Hollingsworth was presented the "Sincere and Dedic a ­ted Service Award of the State Soil and Water Conservation Super ­visors".

The candidate attended the University of Maryland and was graduated from Boston University, the Boston University School of Law and the Boston Unive rsity Law-Medicine Research In­stitute.

He served four· years of active duty with the U.S. Air Force, and four years in the Air Force Reserves.

In legal circles, Hollingworth is a member of the Kennebec , Maine Massachusetts and FederalBars, the Maine and American Trial Lawyers' Association, [:nd the Maine Medico-Legal Soc­iety.

In the field oflaw enforcement, he is a member of the Kennebec ·and Maine Law Enforcement Associations and served as sec­retary to the Legislative Committee to study the laws of search and seizure.

As an active Republican, Hollingsworth is a member of the AugustaCityCommittee, Chairman of his home ward committee . city fir,ance chairman and has been a state and district conven­tion delegate.

In addition to Jaycees activities on the, city and state levels, Hollingsworth is a member of the Dennys River Sportsman's Club, the Worromontogus Fish and Game Association and the Alpha Zeta Alumni Association.

Married, he is the father of three children.

They have moved in a lot ·of Jet Fighters & are said to be making room for Bombers, that a r ea is growing up so fast .tla t we will hardly recognise it when.we ge t back. I guess it's going to be one of the largest bases in V. N. When we get to_ Phan Rang it was nothing but a big valley with very little in it.
