What is it?O The leading nonprofit organization for

pregnancy and baby health. O Founded in 1938O By Franklin D. RooseveltO It was originally known as the National

Foundation for Infantile Paralysis. O The mission is "To improve the health

of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth, and infant mortality."

What can you do to help?

O Make and sell baby blankets and give the money to March of Dimes.

O Sell paper baby bottles to students, teachers, and staff at your school and put them up around your school.

O Have a table with information about March of Dimes and ask for donations.

Students Team Up to Fight Hunger (STUFH)

What is it?O Began in 1999 O At Cornell UniversityO Dedicated to linking food banks with local colleges

and universities for two purposes:O To collect food for those who need it most.O To raise awareness of these needs upon the local

student population. O The main focus comes at the end of a school year

when students move out of apartments and dorms. O Rather than discarding unopened non-perishable

foodstuffs into trash bins as they leave, STUFH supplies food bins for students to donate these unwanted items.

What is it?(cont.)O The mission is to increase this

gathering of food at college campuses throughout the country.

O Which will link the hearts and souls of college students with their less fortunate hungry neighbors.

O Since the program began more than 1 million pounds of foodstuffs have been raised for food banks to feed the hungry.

What can you do to help?

O The best way you can help this organization is by donating the food you do not want to take home to STUFH.

The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF)

What is it?O Created after World War IIO To provide emergency aid to children in Europe

and Asia. O Today, UNICEF works in more than 150

countries and territories, supported entirely with voluntary contributions.

O Across the globe UNICEF is there with medicine, vaccines, clean water, and nutrition.

O Over the years, UNICEF has saved more children’s lives than any other humanitarian organization in the world.

O The U.S. Fund for UNICEF supports UNICEF’s mission through education, advocacy, and fundraising in the United States.

What can you do to help?

O Participate in Trick or treat for UNICEF.
