What’s up with Box Tops for Education?

Get the whole story at www.boxtops4education.com/, but here’s the short version:

When you buy participating products—and there are many—

schools get credits to purchase needed supplies. For years, our Trinity Tutors have been collecting and donating boxtops for Harrisburg’s Downey, Foose, and Scott elementary schools. So if you see any of “THE OLD” labels (at right, top), clip and put them in the marked box in the Gathering Space. It’s that easy!

What’s new is this: The program is transitioning to digital, meaning you’ll see “THE NEW” labels (at right, center)that cannot be clipped. Instead, you’ll

install the free Box Tops app (also pictured) on your cell phone, scan your store receipt within two weeks of purchase, and instantly add Box Top credits to the school you’ve selected. So get shopping, and get clipping and/or scanning: the school you select will be very appreciative!

Discuss these great books

March 15. Heartland: A Memoir of Working Hard and Being Broke in the Richest Country on Earth, by Sarah Smarsh. A look into the lives of poor, working-class Americans in the heartland.

April 19. The Day the World Came to Town: 9/11 in Gander, Newfoundland, by Jim DeFede. True story behind 9/11 events that inspired Broadway’s hit musical, “Come from Away.”

Ash Wednesday: Reaching out

Jesus commanded us to go into the world with the message of

God’s forgivenss. Trinity did that on Ash Wednesday in a brief but meaningful “drive-through” service between 7 and 9 am

in our parking lot. Over two hours, 55 people drove through to

pray and be marked by our pastors with the sign of the cross.

Our goal was to reach people who could not attend our in-

church services at noon and 7 pm, such as those on their way to work and unable to get time off, people with illnesses or conditions that make group contact unwise or uncomfortable, parents with very young children, or folks with mobility issues.

We also longed to bring Jesus’ message to those not at ease in a large church, or who

never received ashes, or who are disconnected, disenfranchised, or otherwise “lost” and in need of God’s great love and mercy.

Let us be thankful to be called and strenthened by Jesus.
