From our Pastor...

HAPPY PALM SUNDAY! As Jesus rode into Jerusalem, he was hailed as a king. With centuries of history, spirituality and theology, we recognize this fact at a deeper level than

those of long ago. We rejoice that our savior has been revealed to us. A few short days later, the Jewish people were yelling, “Crucify him! Crucify him!” We recognize that we can be fickle as well, and that we are truly in need of our Savior. Holy Week affords us an opportunity to reflect on the final days of Jesus and that we take part in his cruel torture by our sins. But, we must not forget the rest of the story: the Resurrection! This gives great hope to us and a chance to shed our guilt and shame and allow ourselves to be forgiven by our Lord, realizing that this was in God’s plan all along. I had a marvelous time at The Cloisters on the Platte. Eighty women were present to dive deeper into an understanding of God’s abiding love for them. I highly encourage men and women to make a retreat weekend at The Cloisters or some other retreat experience within the next year. Although I was not in town for the Potato Bar on the Feast of St. Joseph, I heard it was a grand success with a good number of people present, tasty potatoes with all the toppings and adult beverages. If you were not able to attend, we’ll do it again in the future. Over $1,200 was raised toward St. Bonaventure School’s investment in a new reading program, which hasn’t been updated since 2008. Last Sunday, 27 St. Bonaventure Second Graders made their First Communion. My hope is that the fervor they displayed may continue in their lives and touch the hearts of those around them. Wouldn’t it be glorious if all Catholics would maintain this deep love of our Lord!

Again, HAPPY PALM SUNDAY!

Blessings,

DOMINGO DE RAMOS Por Padre Jairo Congote
