Introduction

Dear User:

Welcome to choose MRC Cabinet. Thanks!

MRC cabinet can offer the protection to the operator, environment and

experimental material. It was designed to avoid the infectious aerosol and splash

when operators work with infectious material such as primary culture, bacterium

and diagnostic samples.

MRC Cabinet is the necessary equipment of laboratory used in microbiology,

biomedicine, gene recombine, animal experiment and biological goods, especially

used in the environment of non-germ and non-dust where the operators should be

protected to culture germ, such as health care, pharmacy and research.

Hope our product can bring you best help.

In order to make you understand more clearly our MRC cabinet, please read this

manual carefully before use it. It is very important for you to use our instrument

correctly and safely. Please put the manual in appropriate position in order to use it

conveniently.

1. Application Range

MRC cabinet is one kind of fume hood with negative pressure and filtered that can

protect the operator, environment and product. The front sash with inflow can

protect the operator, the vertical downward and filtered layer airflow can protect

product, and the pollutional airflow after passing the HEPA (ULPA) filter can

protect the environment. When the MRC cabinet was used in the experiment on

trace volatile toxic chemicals and trace radionuclide as the subsidiary additives

microbiology, it is necessary to contact the suitable exhaust hood.

3.1 MRC Cabinet Performance

Personnel Protection: the microorganism germ number ≤5CFU;

Product Protection: the microorganism germ number ≤5CFU;

Cross Contamination Protection: the microorganism germ number≤2CFU。

3.2 Body Leakage-proof

When the MRC cabinet air pressure up to 500Pa, the air pressure is no less than

450 Pa after kept 30min

3.3 HEPA filter integrity

For the scanning and detecting filter, the rate of leakage is not more than 0.01% in

any point, For the no-scanning and no-detecting filter test points, the rate of

leakage is no more than 0.005%。

3.4 Vibration

The net Vibration amplitude is no more than 5 rms, when the frequency is from 10

Hz to 10 kHz.

3.5 Illumination

The average illumination is not less than 650 lx,The measured value of every

illumination is not less than 430 lx.

3.6 Mechanical performance.

The MRC cabinet design and structure can resist the turn-turtle and transformation

caused by the external force, the deflexibility caused by the working table load

and the tip-over caused by the workload.

The work table doesn’t cause the permanent deformation after it was loaded 23 kg

pressure.

3.7The voltage value will be up to 1390V AC in 5s and keep not to breakdown for

5s.

4. Product Characteristic

4.1LCD Display

Liquid Crystal Display: Place liquid crystal among two parallel glasses, there are

many vertical and horizontal tiny wires among the two glasses. The principle is

mainly through power on or not to control the crystal molecules to change

directions so as to reflect the light and create images. The LCD display is low

power consumption, no electromagnetic radiation.

conditions of the equipment, such as the effective working status of the filter. This

makes more intuitive sense to the operator.

4.2REMOTE CONTROL

MRC Cabinet be installed a special controller to reduce the inconvenience of

close operation. It is small size and light weight, which makes it is convenient

to control the MRC cabinet all functions in the 6 m front of MRC cabinet. It

adopts Japanese NEC remote controller’s chip with many advantages, such as

anti-interference function, far control distance, high control accuracy etc.

4.3AUTOMATIC CONTROL OF FRONT PANEL

Front panel is electrically controlled. With a controller, the operator can

control the up and down of front panel without touching it. The motor is

imported from Japan with various speeds, and it bears many advantages, such

as accurate speed adjustment, powerful tripping force, and smooth rotating

and so on.

4.4RESERVED TIMER

MRC Cabinets shall be disinfected no less than 30 minutes before working

with it. Therefore, the operator has to wait for 30 minutes everyday before

working. Our cabinets were manufactured with the time reserve function that

we can fix the time to turn on and reserve the relative functions. The cabinets

have gotten ready for work before the operator’s arrival to save time. The

range of time reserve is 0-99 hours.

4.5STRUCTURE

4.51. The left, right sides and backside walls of Biological Safety Cabinets are

negative pressure enclosure design to prevent the leak of products.

4.52. Use of the technology of cold rolling steel with 1.5mm duster is to

increase the intensity of frame.

4.53. The working zone made of stainless steel, easy operation.

4.54. The support stand made of metals with a protection coatings.

4.55. The control panel is touched-model switch to make more convenient

operation and pretty appearance.

4.6. Caution

Digital differential pressure display;

Digital airflow velocity display;

Audible and visual alarm system.

4.6.1. Glass windows ultra-high alarm: when the current window height is more

than setting height, the equipment will issue voice alarm, and the LCD starts

to blink .Now you need to adjust the front window to the setting height.

4.6.2. Filter pressure differential warning: If the air filter of supply and exhaust

can’t reach to the stipulate requirement, the equipment will issue a voice warning

to inform user of changing the filter for user’s security.

5. Structure

Front glass door driving system consists of door-motor, front glass door, traction

structure, limit switch etc.

5.2Air filtering system

Air filtering system is the uppermost system to ensure equipment functions. It

consists of air supply fan, exhaust fan, air supply filter and exhaust air filter.

The main function of air filtering system is pushing clean air into workroom

continuously, the vertical clean air speed in work room is comply to the standard

to ensure that the clean level can meet the filed standard. The exhaust air is

purified, meanwhile, environmental protection.

5.3UV Light

UV Lamp is specially used to sterilize, lies inside the working zone fixed at

stainless steel top-inside, so that this could ensure the maximum lighting working

zone.

5.4 Fluorescent Light

Fluorescent Light ensures a certain degree of illumination. Light source consists a

pipe-type energy-saving fluorescent lamp, outside the area; the average lighting

degree inside the working zone meets the standard requirement.

5.5Foot switch

By controlling foot switch, the glass door can be controlled flexibly up and down

within the glass door active range.

5.6.1 LCD display window

The output part of Human-equipment exchange, which we can understand the

state of equipment and performance.

This window receive the order from remote control

The key point of Human-equipment exchange is to operate the equipment through

light-touch. When Remote control is out of work, this equipment can achieve the

basically functions by the button.

Power Button: POWER, in addition to reservation, in control of the other switch;

Light button: LIGHT, is the key to control the lamp lighting. Press every time, the

state of LCD and the lamp correspondingly change. That is, the light turn on to off

or turns off to on.

Sterilization Button: UV, the ultraviolet lamp controls switch. The state of LCD

and the lamp correspondingly change. That is, the light turn on to off or turns off

to on. The key acts only when the glass window closed.

Fan Control Button: in control of the fan working condition. Press every time, the

state of LCD and the lamp correspondingly change. The button cannot act when

the glass window closed.

Socket: SOCKET, is the control button of socket working situation. Every time you

press it, on / off situation and the relevant indication situation on LCD display will

change.

Glass Window up Button: UP, press up button sustaining, the glass window rises .To

height of 200mm or releasing the button, the glass window immediately stops.

Press again and the glass window rises again.

Glass Window down Button: DOWN. Keep pressing the down button, the glass

window will go down until 200mm to the bottom or you release the button. The

glass window will continue going down when you press the button again.

Mute button: MUTE. The alarm will stop when you press this button, and will

continue if you press again.

There are 8 usually-used buttons on the operational board. Reservation and timing

function should be operated by the remote control. Button existed on both

operational board and the remote control has the same function.

5.7. Airway tube

Ventilation vent of pressure difference sensor.

User must not block this ventilation vent, and nothing should be hanged on this

device.

5.8. Power lock

When power cord is connected with electricity, unlock power lock with key, and

device starts to work.

a、 Plug in, open power locker, press subscribe key. (SUB);

b、 Through +、 - key to adjust time division, then press confirm key to

confirm.(CONFIRM);Then adjust time 10 division, hour division and 10

hour division using same method.

c、 After confirm time, select relative function key (for example UV), relative

display will be light.

d、 Press power key again(POWER), subscribe function will be started.

Subscribed time period begins count down, when timing shows 0, relative

function will be started.

5.92.Timer(INSTALL TIMER)

a、 Plug on power, open electrical socket, press down power key(POWER),

through select relative function key(eg: UV),relative function will be started.

b、 Press down timer key(INSTALL TIMER), through +、- key to adjust time

division, and then press confirm key to confirm(CONFIRM); Then adjust

time 10 division, hour division and 10 hour division using same method.

c、 After confirm time, timer function will be started. When count down to 0,

turnoff all the functions, cabinet will be on standby condition.

5.93. Other key’s function is the same as light touch key on control panel. Pls refer

to 5.6.3.

5.10. Water proof socket

Water proof socket is placed at right side of operating area, which can supply

power to inside equipments. User controls this supplying power or not through

this socket.(SOCKET)

(1)Total equipments power of socket should not exceed 500W;

(2)Water proof socket can only proof water when its front cover put

down. Once front cover is opened, this socket can not be called water proof

socket.

5.11.Fuse protection(Protective tube)

This cabinet equips includes general power fuse (Protective tube) and water proof

socket fuse (Protective tube), which locates near the electrical wire side at back

side of cabinet. Fuse (Protective tube)’s relative specification and model, pls refer

to 9.3.

6. Installation and instructions

6.1. Installation

6.11Remove all the package materials;

6.12Check if there is scratch, out of shape or foreign matter on cabinet outside

surface;

6.13Carefully check with accessories and materials, referring to packing list in this

instruction book;

6.14Move the whole cabinet to final placing position, where is nearer and

convenient to install;

Supporting frame is placed on cabinet top when transportation, take it

out before installation. Strictly prohibit putting bottom upside when moving,

strictly prohibiting putting id down or disassembling.

6.15Base stand assembling

Refer to Draft 5 to assemble base stand.

Take out M10×50 inner hexagonal cylinder bolt, flat gasket 10, and spring

gasket 10 from accessories. Pls refer to picture 5 to assemble base stand. It must

be assembled fasten and firmly.

Firm and fasten it according to Draft 6 is ok.

6.17Complete machine placing

Biological safety cabinet should be placed in air flow protected well area, avoiding

influence of air flow from ventilating system, air conditioning, door, window or

person moving. Test shows if other influence air flow exceeds suction air flow

speed at cabinet air intake side, room polluted air will enter into working area of

the cabinet. So place cabinet correctly, and make it at correct position is very

necessary. Treat well the relations between cabinet air exhaust and room inside air

exhaust or exhaust duct. Cabinet’s air exhausted from upper side of cabinet. When

place cabinet, air exhaust system should not be restricted or effected. Cabinet

should be placed at the lower reaches of the air flow. Room sides should be at least

300mm on each side of the cabinet, for convenient checking.

6.2. Instructions for use

6.21 Connect with 220V、50HZ alternating current power supply;

6.22 Open power locker, power on the cabinet, VFD twinkle 3 times, buzz 3 times

at the same time. And then cabinet will be on standby condition, waiting for

operator’s press key or remote control to input execute.

6.23 Press power key, pressure difference shows sending air pressure difference,

number value is 0. After press power key, following functions can be then realized:

light, UV sterilization, motor, send/exhaust wind display transform, socket,

electrical door up and down, timer; While subscribe must be down before pressing

power key(relative press key, function and operation, pls refer to 5.6 and 5.9)

UV sterilization function will not be selected when glass door open or

any other key pressed down

6.24Before using, down electrical door rail to the bottom, open UV light,

sterilizing above 0.5hour.

(1)When sterilizing, person should leave room, for protect eyes and skin,

avoiding damage from expose carelessly.

(2)UV light strength should be tested at regular intervals according to

supplier’s description. Test quarterly is suggested. Change new one when

disqualification.

6.25Move electrical door bottom rail at the 200mm height of operating surface,

open motor, after running 0.5hour, normal inside test operating can be done.

For guarantee operating safety, pls put in testing materials ahead of

time inside the cabinet, and keep electrical door rail at the 200mm height

of operating surface when testing.

6.26After usage, down electrical door rail to bottom line, opens UV light,

sterilizing 0.5hour above, and then shut down the cabinets.

7. Maintenance and Analysis of Common Failures

Because the statistics of operating time will directly affect the judgment of

maintenance needs, we recommend preparing a detailed record of operating time

for reference and inquiry when using!

7.1. Clean the cabinet surface

7.1.1. Clean the operating area surface

Rub the entire surface with a soft cotton cloth soaked in concentrated liquid soap,

wipe up soap with the cotton cloth or towel soaked in clean hot water or warm

water, and then dry the surface with another cotton cloth or towel rapidly.

For the contaminated or traces of the work surface, fluid tank, etc., use medical

alcohol or other disinfectant to wipe.

Disinfectants can not damage for 304 stainless steel.

7.1.2. Clean the the external surface and glass door.

As to any of the non-abrasive household cleanser, use a soft cotton cloth or towel

to wipe.

7.2. Comprehensive maintenance period

We suggest comprehensive maintenance period is one year or 1000 hours of work.

7.3. Maintenance methods

7.3.1. Daily or weekly maintenance

(1) Disinfect and clean operating area (see 7.1.1);

(2)Clean the external surface and glass door around the operating area (see 7.1.2);

(3) Check the various functions of equipment;

(4) Record this maintenance result;

7.3.2Monthly maintenance

(1) Clean the the external surface and glass door. (See 7.1.2);

(2)Wipe the worktop surfaces, wall surface of operating area (excluding the well

air net of the top of operating area), and the inner surface of glass door with 70﹪

medical alcohol or household bleach diluted 1:100 (ie, 0.05% sodium

hypochlorite); Then use the sterile water to wipe again in order to eliminate the

rest chlorine.

(3) Check the various functions of equipment;

(4) Record this maintenance result;

7.3.3Annual maintenance

(1)Check the two conveyor belts of front glass door drive unit, and ensure that

their tightness is coincident.

(2)Check the UV lamp and fluorescent lamps.

(3)Apply for testing the overall performance of cabinet on an annual basis to

ensure the performance safety. User is responsible for testing costs.

(4)Record this maintenance result.

7.4 Analysis of Common Failures

Please confirm whether the power is connected or not, whether the power cord is

obvious damaged or not, whether the fuse is good or not, and whether the power

locks are in the open state or not before fault diagnosis.

Symptom Fault analysis

UV lamp not bright or abnormal.

• Whether lamp foot connect is good or not.

• Whether tube is good or not.

• Whether glass doors are all down or not.

Light not bright or abnormal. • Whether light foot connect is good or not.

• Whether tube is good or not.

Buttons not working or abnormal. • Whether there is obvious damage to

buttons.

Remote control not working.

• Whether the remote control batteries are

charged.

• Whether there is obvious damage to remote

control.

Equipment not electricity

• Whether the power connect is good or not.

• Whether there is obvious damage to power

code.

• Whether fuse is good or not.

• Whether the power locks are in the open

• Whether socket button starts up or not.

• Whether socket is good or not.

(1)The above electrical parts must be operated by a qualified electrician in safey

conditions (cutting off power supply). The other parts are not allowed to remove;

otherwise the user should take responsibility by them;

(2)When failures not in the above occur, and the operator can’t solve, please

notify our maintenance department immediately. For your safety, please do not

maintenance equipment by yourself;

(3)The maintenance of this equipment is undertaken by trained and recognized

technicians;

(4)If you need to order parts, contact our technical service department, and please

indicate the model and serial number of the cabinet purchased.

7.5 Storage conditions

Safety cabinet is stored in warehouse in which relative humidity is no more than

75%, temperature stays below 40OC, ventilation is good with no acid, alkali and

other corrosive gases, and its storage period should be not exceeding one year. If

the period is more than one year, check the cabinet out of the box, and let the

qualified cabinet enter circulation.

8. Notice

8.1Before connecting the AC power supply, ensure inputted voltage of safety

cabinet is the same as the supply voltage and both with stability, and ensure that

the rated load of power socket is not less than requirements; a third leg

grounded plug, which can only be used with a grounded power socket, is a

safety device. If you can’t plug in socket, turn to electrician for assistance.

8.2Slow-moving: In order to avoid affecting the normal air flow state, the operator

who moves his arms in and out of the cabinet is required to be careful to

maintain the integrity of the front opening air. Arms should be slowly and

perpendicular while coming in and out of the front opening. Hands and arms

stretching to the cabinet wait about one minute in which cabinet adjusts itself

and makes the air inside sweep the surface of the hands and arms, then hands

and arms can process the items. In order to minimize the times of arms into and

out of the opening, perpare all the necessary items in the cabinet before starting

the experiment;

8.3 Moving principles of different samples in cabinet: When two or more samples

need to be moved, be sure that low-polluting samples move to high-polluting

samples. Movement of items should also follow the principles of slow-moving.

8.4Items placed in parallel: items should be placed in the cabinet as the word

showing horizontally, avoiding cross-contamination between items caused by

return air, and avoiding blocking the return air grille in the back;

8.5 In order to avoid items being sucked into the vacuum suction duct or the

blower, do not place soft, slight items (for example: soft tissue) on the surface

during the using process;

8.6The maximum weight of items placed in the cabinet is no more than

23Kg/25×25cm2;

8.7Avoid vibration: avoid using vibration equipment (eg centrifuges, vortex

oscillator, etc.) in the cabinet. Vibration would make granular materials

accumulating in the membrane shake off, leading to lower cleanliness of

operating area. The failure of Balance in the front operating surface can also

cause the pollution on the operator;

8.8Open fire disabled: prohibit the use of open fire in cabinet! Using of fire will

lead to airflow disorder, and filter damage. High-temperature sterilization are

required during the experiment, and the use of infrared sterilizer are highly

recommend;

8.9High efficiency filter has its own life. With the use of prolonged, dust and

bacteria accumulate in the filter resulting in high efficiency filter pressure loss.

When the loss increases to sound an alarm, contact our service department to

replace high efficiency filter, otherwise it will affect the safety performance of

the equipment. And the used filter should be processed as medical waste;

8.10The covers of blower and its downside steel plate are static, and after the side

8.11 Grille on the surface near the front window is used for both air intake and

sewage (discharge interface under surface); do not block up grille near the

front window, otherwise it will affect the cabinet's airflow. Recommend the

use of armrest, solving this problem and reducing the operator's wrist

fatigue;

8.12 Long-term use of biological safety cabinets will inevitably cause pollution

(ie HEPA filters, corner cabinets, etc.). In order to remove the pollution

better, recommend to sterilize using formalin (formaldehyde) fumigation

sterilizer one time per 500 hours, and then clear formaldehyde gas using

ammonium hydrogen carbonate neutralizer. Make sure that there will be no

escape of sterilization gas during the process.

8.13 Its storage period should be not exceeding one year. If the period is more

than one year, check the cabinet out of the box, and let the qualified cabinet

enter circulation.

10. Warranty

10.1 Warranty is 12 months from purchasing day (excluding UV lamp and

Fluorescent tube, filter).

10.2 If failure or damage to instruments and equipment during the warranty period

is caused by improper use, we will take no responsibility.

10.3 We charge proper costs for maintenance out of warranty period.

10.4 Life time of this equipment is 10 years.
