UN GAID FORUM
The IEEE-CS Malaysia participated in the Global Forum on
Access and Connectivity and Innovative Funding
Mechanismswhich was organized by the United Nations Global
Alliance for ICT and Development (UN GAID). The event which
was held from 19th to 20th May 2008 was a side event to the World
Congress of Information Technology (WCIT) 2008. The two-days
event was attended by Vice-Chair and Secretary of the chapter.
The objectives of the event was to have a practical, results-
oriented format, including interactive, multi-stakeholder panel
discussions, partnership announcements, as well as opportunities

potential partners and donors. The Forum also was intended to
provide a networking platform for leaders from the public, private and financial sectors to meet and forge new
partnerships for the future.
MEMBERSHIP DRIVE
The chapter has planned for 2 membership drive program to be held for the year. To support the plan, the
chapter has also printed out 50 IEEE-CS Malaysia t-shirts to add to existing promotional materials. The IEEE

membership-drive purposes.
The first membership drive program of the year was held at UNITEN on the 22nd April 2008 and the
objectives were to encourage professionals (TNB employees and UNITEN lecturers) to become members of
IEEE & IEEE Computer Society. The chapter t-shirts were put on display and were given away to those who
signed up as member of the chapter.
Another membership drive program was held during the ITSIM 2008 conference where the membership
