One night in 1957, twelve-year-old Larry was watching a meeting of the Billy Graham Crusade on television. That night he received by faith the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal Savior, now testifying that, all I can say is He touched me.One of Larrys favorite Bible verses is the great Romans 10:13, “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. Over 60 years ago, he invoked that promise of God and was born again! In 1963, as an 18 year old young man, Larry was standing on Main Street in Pleasantville where he caught a glimpse of a beautiful young lady riding a bus. Two days later, that same young lady came walking by Pines Delicatessen where Larry and his friends hung out.He recalls and that was it! Larry began dating the love of his life and on October 9, 1965 were married at Port Republic Church. They were blessed with three daughters, Shirley, Michelle and Lari; three granddaughters and two grandsons. On MothersDay, 1982, the newly constructed Mainland Baptist Church opened its doors with a new Pastor from upstate New York. Shortly after arriving in Galloway, Pastor Dean Bult visited the nearby China Doll Beauty Lounge for a haircut. Pastor Bult invited his hair stylist, Shirley Michael, to visit the new church, located on Pitney Road, that Sunday morning. On September 26, 1982, Shirley and her husband Larry, impressed by the friendly atmosphere of the congregation, were among the very first born-again Christians at Mainland Baptist to follow the Lord Jesus Christ in obedience to scriptural baptism by immersion. The couple became members on March 24, 1985. Larry has been employed at the FAA William J. Hughes Technical Center for the last 26 years as a mail clerk. He also worked for 24 years as a Teamsters Union truck driver and for forty-eight years as a part-time valet driver for the Smithville Inn, where I got to drive all the new cars every year. Larry claims Ephesians 4:30, 1 John 1:9, and Romans 10:13 as his favorite Bible verses. His wife Shirley went home to Heaven to be with her Lord and Savior on October 28, 2016, after fifty-one years of marriage. Brother Larry Michael continues to be a faithful member of Mainland Baptist, attending the RU Recovery Ministry Sunday School and the Morning Worship Service. In this months verse, the Apostle Paul is addressing a fellow labourer and dearly beloved brother in Christ. He was telling Philemon, a fellow labourer in Christ, that by his actions he was a great refresher of the saints. We can all recognize the value pf physical refreshment after doing exhausting work. We should also recognize the value of spiritual refreshment as we seek to serve our blessed Lord in the midst of continual pressures from the world, the flesh, and the devil. These pressures challenge the child of God to depart from the course of uprightness. Spiritual refreshment is wonderfully revitalizing after challenging times. In the second part of verse six in Philemon, the apostle reveals the source of spiritual refreshment as every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus.Philemon encouraged his fellow believers by providing a place in his own home for the local church to meet. However, spiritual refreshment is not tied to finances nor restricted to assisting with material needs. By many seemingly insignificant gestures we can be a blessing. Such gestures can be a friendly smile, an encouraging word, a sympathetic ear, a happy spirit, showing genuine concern, a faithful prayer, or the sharing of a personal experience of a special promise from Gods Word. Those who feel spiritually drained are refreshed themselves when they endeavor to be of assistance and encouragement to others in the body of Christ. As we give out in His name He pours in to us. We might get tired physically serving the Lord, but He gives the inner man the spiritual refreshment to keep going. John 15:11 says, These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full. Why not ask the Lord to help you be a refresher of the saints and then thank Him for allowing you to do so.

We all know what a cold refreshing drink can mean to a thirsty body on a hot day. In this month’s verse, the Apostle Paul is addressing a fellow labourer and dearly beloved brother in Christ. Many of us pray for revival. But what, specifically, do we mean by the phrase “pray for revival”? We know that we cannot “organize revival.” (I think of revivals such as the Welsh Revival of 1904-1905 when over 100,000 people were saved.) True revival is the work of God. But we are asking God to work. These are ten specific ways to pray as we ask the Lord to do the work that only He can do. Perhaps this list would be a help to others who also pray with the psalmist, “Wilt thou not revive us again: that thy people may rejoice in thee?” (Psalm 85:6).8 Prayer Requests for Genuine Revival

1. That God would search my heart and reveal anything in my life that is not right with Him. Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.—Psalm 139:23–24

2. That God would break any stubbornness and hardness of my heart. Sow to yourselves in righteousness, reap in mercy; break up your fal-low ground: for it is time to seek the Lord, till he come and rain righteousness upon you.—Hosea 10:12

3. That God would show me any relationships that need to be restored. Moreover if thy brother shall trespass against thee, go and tell him his fault between thee and him alone: if he shall hear thee, thou hast gained thy brother.—Matthew 18:15

4. That God would help me to have a sensitivity to the Holy Spirit that I have never experienced. And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.—Ephesians 4:30

5. That God would grant me a deep conviction of sin, repentance, and a renewed fear of God. For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death.—2 Corinthians 7:10

6. That God would give me a spiritual hunger and fervency that I have never known. Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.—Matthew 5:6

7. That God would bring loving unity and deep harmony in my church and my family. By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.—John 13:35

8. That God would fill my heart with a passion to see people saved. I say the truth in Christ, I lie not, my conscience also bearing me witness in the Holy Ghost, That I have great heaviness and continual sorrow in my heart. For I could wish that myself were accursed from Christ for my brethren, my kinsmen according to the flesh:—Romans 9:1–3

Experience the joy of going on the world's greatest journey, the intentional pursuit of Jesus Christ. We have one life. A life lived for Jesus Christ will have meaning and purpose not just for time, but

also for eternity. Nothing less than this deliberate pursuit is adequate to satisfy the deep desires of the human soul or the

desperate needs of our world.
