He said a life built on God is like a house built on a rock but a life built on Satan is like a house built on sand (Matthew 7:24-27). The human experience today is no different than when King David wrote the Psalm in chapter 28. He did not live in a modern age like we do, but human nature with its enemies, fears, and problems in life are just as big today as they were in past generations. David found the Lord to be his rock and would cry to the Lord for his soul and physical needs. “The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower.” (Psalm 18:2). Everyone will face uncertainties, and these may be in our personal lives as things change or in the world in which we live. The Living Word (Jesus) and the written word (Bible) are just as alive and relevant today as when it was given. Generations come and go but it is the rock of our existence. One of my Dad’s favorite songs as I recall was called, “In Times Like These”. It is just as much needed today as back then. “In times like these you need a Savior, In times like these you need an anchor; Be very sure, be very sure Your anchor holds and grips the Solid Rock! This Rock is Jesus, Yes, He’s the one; This Rock is Jesus, The only one! Be very sure, be very sure Your anchor holds and grips the Solid Rock!” Learn to cry to and live on your Rock!

youth ministry

Just for La-

So, are you tired of living out of balance? If you are, I can certainly relate! Let’s consider what we can do to bring balance back into our lives and ministries. Here are some key principles to developing and maintaining a healthy balance. Surrender to and Stay in the Center of God’s Will Friend, if you find yourself struggling to hang on as your life seems to spin wildly out of control, surrender control to God. Submit to His perfect will and purpose to make Him the very center of your life. “Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is.” - Ephesians 5:17 It is only as we make Christ first and subject everything else in our lives to Him that we experience a truly balanced life—a life where every role has its proper place and all the roles are properly connected to another and to Christ. A major part of keeping your balance is being faithful where God has place you and being obedient to the things He has given you to do. Spend Time with the Lord Daily When we are feeling out of balance in our Christian life, occasionally we need to remove a plate or two. It is in choosing which plate that we often make our mistake. We usually give up the plate that doesn’t cry out to us - like personal devotions! Sometimes the quiet plates are the most important plates. Never let go of the time that you spend with your Lord. Matthew 6:33 says, “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be add-ed unto you.”

Celebrating Spring Birthdays during Sunday School

Celebrating March, April, and May birthdays

Sunday, May 1st

@ 9:30 am

1. Cut a piece of tissue paper slightly smaller than the size of your candle.

2. Put a piece of waxed paper down to protect your work surface (the paint will leak through the tissue). Then dip fingertip in acrylic paint and press on tissue paper to make the flower petals and bumblebee bodies. ( I found it worked best to dip in the paint, press on a piece of scrap paper to remove some of the excess, then press on the tissue paper. )

3. Using paint or marker, add additional details to your picture. I also wrote the words " Happy Mother's Day" in the bee's trail, added each child's name next to their flower and the year.

4. Allow your paint to dry, then wrap the tissue paper around the candle.

5. Get a piece of waxed paper and wrap it on top of your tissue paper design. Use the excess waxed paper as a handle.

6. Using a heat embossing gun or hair dryer, blow hot air over your design. As the wax begins to melt, you'll see the white tissue paper start to disappear and your design will look brighter. You may need to move your waxed paper handle so you can apply heat to the whole candle.

7. Carefully remove the waxed paper to reveal your decorated candle. You'll see that your artwork has

now become part of the candle itself.

The growing Spanish Ministry of Mainland Baptist Church, led by

Pastor Javier Vega and his wife Nancy, celebrated the Resurrection of

the Lord Jesus Christ with an Easter Luncheon following the 10:40 AM

Service. Almost 100 were in attendance for the food and fellowship!

On Sunday, April 10, Pastor Vega and the Spanish Ministry had the

Annual Spanish Ministry Takeover Service at 6 PM. The Spanish

speaking congregation originating from many different nations sang

songs and gave soul-stirring testimonies about what God has done in

their lives through Mainland Baptist. Pastor Vega delivered a powerful

message from 2 Corinthians 5 on “new things.”

This past weekend, five families from this active ministry took a road

trip to Solid Rock Baptist Church in Berlin, NJ, for a Spanish speaking

conference. Many of those in attendance, according to Pastor Vega,

“were motivated to do more for God.” The Spanish Ministry has now

begun to utilize the larger capacity chapel for their Sunday School

classes. Last Sunday Brother David Agudelo taught a lesson on false

religions. God continues to grow this ministry by reaching people

through door to door evangelism, getting converts scripturally

baptized, and “teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have

commanded you.” (Matt 28:20)

On Saturday, April 2, 2016 we had the privilege of hosting for the 5th year the

National Hoops 3 on 3 Tournament. The Washer family along with 4 young people came, they passed out flyers in

local area schools to invite people to the attend. God was working though

every detail. Many of our church family gave of their time to help. The Lord

blessed with 37 teams, and 48 salvations.

We look forward to hosting this event again next year.

On Wednesday, April 13, RU Director Dennis Powers accompanied by five RU workers and students, travelled to Rockford, Illinois, for the RU Recovery

Ministry National Conference. This year marked the 20th anniversary of this international, Christ-centered recovery program designed to rescue, recover,

and restore those in addictive behaviors with the power of the victorious Christian life found only in the Lord Jesus Christ. The conference theme, “In Him,”

was taken from Colossians 2:6, “As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in Him…” The three days were packed with Spirit-filled

preaching, teaching, testimonies, singing, special music, and wonderful fellowship. Dr. George Crabb, the Medical Advisor to RU Recovery Ministries,

preached a powerful message Thursday morning on the four men who brought a man with palsy to the Lord Jesus. For Ru Secretary and Ladies Group

Leader Paula Powers, that message and the conference in general, “increased my desire to help others come to Jesus (trust Him as their personal Savior),

to be committed to the ministry, to have a relationship with the Lord that is not casual, and have a true craving for the things of God.” In the Friday night RU

meeting, Ladies Group Leader Chrissy Bishop, was challenged by North Love Baptist Church Pastor Paul Kingsbury to live “In Him” and follow God’s

instructions. Pastor Kingsbury, RU Co-Founder and the featured speaker at Mainland Baptist’s Encourage the Discouraged Conference several years ago,

preached on how to “Defeat the Strongholds,” from Joshua 1, 5 and 6. Chrissy declared after the meeting, “I just want to live by faith in Jesus Christ, and

continue to see the victory of lives changing (including my own) in Him!” RU Ladies Group Helper Karen Grace, who originally came to RU to support her

son, was “so blessed to have had the opportunity to go to the conference.” She declares that “the preaching, workshops and the fellowship we shared

together, as well as the wonderful testimonies we heard Friday night, will always be a remembrance that ‘In Him’ we can do an ything!” RU student Diane

Tobias’ job does not allow her to attend Sunday morning service, so she enjoys the Bible study and fellowship of the Friday RU meetings. She testifies,"

the thing which impacted me most about the conference was that so many people in one place had one goal, to lift God up and give Him the glory for all

things!” Finally, RU student Conchetta Arrington says that going to the RU Conference “had a real impact on my life!” She has

concluded that RU is not just for those who struggle with drugs or alcohol, but God can transform

any life through this program! Pastor Bult issued the challenge in the April Mainland Lighthouse

for Christians to “establish new priorities for God to do His work in their lives.” RU Recov-

ery Ministry is looking for workers who would like the Lord to “do a new thing” in their lives by

stepping out of their comfort zone and experiencing the victorious Christian life found “in Him.”

Mother’s Day
