Magnetic Materials

• The materials which can be made to behave like a magnet, when it is placed in magnetic field called as a magnetic materials.

Magnetic Dipole Moment (M)

• The dipole moment is defined as the product ofmagnetic pole strength and length of the magnet.

Magnetic Field

• The space around which the magnetic lines offorces exist is called as magnetic field. Magneticfield is produced by permanent magnets such as ahorse shoe magnet and temporarily byelelctromagnets (or) superconducting magnets.

Magnetic Lines of Force

• The continuous curve in a magnetic field that existsfrom north pole to south pole is called as magneticlines of force

Magnetic Induction (B) (or) Magnetic Flux Density

Diamagnetism is the phenomenon by which the orientation of Magnetic moments are largely dependent on applied Magnetic field and Temperature. If applied magnetic moment is larger than T then

the magnetic moment is large and finite.
