Madinah Ba’th Madinah began dancing with NSDA at age 12. Now graduating, with High honors from Hubie Blake Performing Arts High School, Madinah has accepted a Full Academic and Artistic Scholarship to attend Towson University. During her years with NSDA, Madinah has been a most valued member of the school and Junior Company. Madinah is a Shining Light to all who know her and an Outstanding young woman. She is the eldest of 12 brothers and sisters, an excellent artist and teacher, and a pure JOY to know and teach. All of us wish her very best wishes for a tremendous future in her studies of dance and Biology . Lynn & Raigan Welters “In my last five years at NSDA, I have overcame several challenges. This includes working with new choreographers, becoming a member of the Junior Company, and being absent for most of my senior year due to injury. Growing up I always saw ballerinas as tall, flexible, skinny white girl in a pretty pink tutu. However, NSDA changes that perception for me. I am a short, talented, thick Black girl that dominates the stage in a pretty pink tutu. I would like to thank Ms. Welters for helping me grow physically and mentally throughout the years. I have become a confidently beautiful Black ballerina and will never be ashamed of it ! Despite all my obstacles, my accomplishments are what I treasure the most. Dance is my outlet when I am mad, sad, happy, and excited. Whenever I need something dance is always there for me. Also having a comfortable dance environment has helped me continuously pursue my dreams as a dancer. NSDA has become my second family and I appreciate all the doors it has opened for me. Thank you to everyone who supported me. “ 8
