The ‘Fringe’ Deal
My Romantic History THEATRE
This one is just made for you, fresh from rave reviews at the Edinburgh Fringe. A non-rom com about love, libido and lager, which tells you what happens if you don’t manage to fi nd someone at university. Written by D.C. Jackson, one of Scotland’s most established writers, this is ‘90 minutes of pure pleasure’ (The Times) and ‘painfully funny’ (The Telegraph). If only all relationships (and papers) would be that much fun!

The ‘Anniversary’ Deal
Lord of the Flies THEATRE
Not only we are turning 40. It’s also the centenary of William Golding this year, who has written one of the most disturbing and celebrated novels of modern times, Lord of the Flies. ‘One of my most vivid memories of being on stage at
macrobert was during a SUDS performance of An Inspector
Calls (I was playing the Inspector). During the fi nal section of
the play, following the Inspector’s dramatic exit, the family
are left questioning who or what he was and whether his
investigation was legitimate. However, on this particular
evening a vital line was missed during my exit and replaced
with a line from the fi nal page of the script, leaving the cast
and audience amidst confusion! After the show a couple
of mates said to me “I thought it was good but didn’t really
understand it”. I think I just accused them of being stupid.’
You might think: No, not another student guide. But hold your breath for a minute! This one is different, it’s brand new, and it’s packed with some great distractions from studying that are right here in the heart of the University of Stirling Campus. We might be turning 40 this year (and we’ll be celebrating with a big bang), but we are far from being boring. macrobert is a mixture of eclectic theatre, sexy cabaret spiced with some circus and brilliant comedy, a scratch night where you can bring in your own ideas, exotic dance with an urban twist and world-class cinema. The list could be longer, but that would be boring. Check us out yourself, and you might be looking back on those great nights out when you are 40!

Not another Shakespeare? This one is not quite like the others. It comes from a company that has been Time Out’s Critics Choice for their punchy and vibrant productions of classic theatre. With quite a bit of blood involved, this classic piece of theatre is not for the faint-hearted, but a wicked live experience.
