Introducing the MA Festive Arts Programme
The MA Fesve Arts Programme at the Irish World Academy of Music and Dance oers students the opportunity to develop skills in arts management, curang, producon, performance and research with an emphasis on fesvity and the role of fesval in society. Bringing together arsts, performers, curators, producers and researchers, the MA Fesve Arts Programme provides a unique context for the acquision and development of skills in this eld. There is a strong emphasis on the development of praccal skills andexperience, with a central internship module and a focus on working with praconers and experts in the eld.
Students on the MA Fesve Arts programme complete a series of taught modules, designed to support the development of their research projects, and also work in small groups toward the realizaon of public projects. The internship, elecve and nal project opons allow students to develop experse in an individual area of research, curang and producon, or performance.
The MA Fesve Arts Programme is a one year, full-me, postgraduate programme. The programme oers a comprehensive grounding in the key skills around the creaon and producon of fesvals and other related arts events. These include:
Arts management
Curang and commissioning
Management of funding structures and applicaons
Project management
Event development and producon
Eecve arts markeng and audience development
Community engagement and outreach
This MA programme will enable students to aain praccal and theorecal perspecves around the role of fesval and fesvity in society. It will also provide students with valuable opportunies to work in the eld of fesval management, creaon and producon through the internship module. There is an emphasis on creave and cultural entrepreneurship, on developing sustainable enterprises, and on building links with key stakeholders such as civic authories, private business, the tourism sector and funding bodies.
Course Structure
Students undertake a series of core modules on the MA Fesve Arts programme. These core modules cover issues of:
Curang and Commissioning
Producon and Programming for Fesvals
Fesval Management and Delivery
Understanding local and global fesvity
Researching fesvals and fesvity
Cultural Policy and Arts Management
Students will also have the opon to choose from a range of elecve opons, allowing them to develop individual projects as well as engaging in shared modules across the Academy.

The MA Fesve Arts programme is suitable for those who wish to expand their work in or understanding of fesvity and fesvals in society. The MA Fesve Arts Programme combines praccal, reecve and creave elements, making it suitable for fesval performers, managers, curators and researchers.

Performers who wish to develop their skills for fesve contexts, and to gain praccal and producon skills and experience.
Community arts managers and facilitators who want to expand their range of skills and perspecves audience development, arts management and fesval producon.

Entry Requirements
Applicants should normally hold an honours undergraduatedegree (Level 8 Naonal Qualicaons Authority of Ireland)and/or substanal experience of an appropriate arts pracce,evidencing a record of achievement equivalent to a highhonours degree, as per ULs APEL policy. In all cases, the applicaon process will include an interview (and audion where appropriate).
What to include with your Application:
Qualicaon transcripts and cercates English language qualicaon if English is not your rst language Cered English translaons of your transcripts/cercates where the originals are in a language other than English A copy of your birth cercate (long document).
English Language Requirements
Applicants whose rst language is not English must provide evidence of either prior successful compleon of a degree qualicaon taught through the medium of English or meet one of the criteria below (no longer than two years prior to applicaon):
Acceptable English Language qualicaons include the following:
Matriculaon examinaons from European countries where English is presented as a subject and an acceptable level is achieved
Irish Leaving Cercate English Ordinary Level Grade D or above
TOEFL 550 (paper based), 213 (computer based), 80 (internet based)
IELTS Minimum score of 6.5* for Business, Arts, Humanies or Educaon programmes. Minimum score of 6.0* for Science, Engineering, Informacs or Electronics programmes* with no less than 6 in any one component.
English Test for English and Academic Purposes (ETAPP) Grade C1 GCE O level English Language/GCSE English Language Grade C or above
University of Cambridge ESOL Cercate of Prociency in English Grade C / Cercate in Advanced English Grade A
GCE Examinaon Boards Oxford Delegacy of Local Examinaons Grade C / Cambridge Local Examinaons Syndicate School Cercate Pass 1-6 / University of London Entrance and School Examinaons Council School Cercate Pass 1-6
