37

Let’s build our first query

Page 38: M2 Overview (DESKI) Data Quality Course

38

• Blank M2 Screen

• Functionality is greyed out when it can’t be used

• “New File” and “Open File” buttons look just like in regular Office products

• Hit the “New File” button

Page 39: M2 Overview (DESKI) Data Quality Course

• Results panel

• Conditions panel

Page 40: M2 Overview (DESKI) Data Quality Course

40

Quick overview:

• Open and close boxes to the left

• Review file names

• Consider files described in earlier lecture

Page 41: M2 Overview (DESKI) Data Quality Course

41

Open CAPER Summary

• Find objects you want in your report and drag to “results panel”

Page 42: M2 Overview (DESKI) Data Quality Course

42

M2 will only retrieve the objects you ask it to retrieve

Page 43: M2 Overview (DESKI) Data Quality Course

43

•Use conditions panel to limit data

•From entire world, to area of interest

•If I hit run now with no conditions………

Page 44: M2 Overview (DESKI) Data Quality Course

44

•Use conditions panel to limit data

•From entire world, to area of interest

•If I hit run now with no conditions………

I would get the whole MHS and all the years that are in M2! not what I want

Page 45: M2 Overview (DESKI) Data Quality Course

45

• List of operators

• Click the one you want

Page 46: M2 Overview (DESKI) Data Quality Course

46

After clicking “equal to”, a set of options are displayed

Page 47: M2 Overview (DESKI) Data Quality Course

47

Select from the list of values

Page 48: M2 Overview (DESKI) Data Quality Course

48

• Add additional filters

• Hit Run

Page 49: M2 Overview (DESKI) Data Quality Course

49

We always double-check our results

• Check to ensure it reflects the filters you applied

FY = ???

Tmt Parent DMIS ID = ??

MEPRS1 Code = B

•Do the numbers look reasonable? If not, maybe your query needs to be modified

Page 50: M2 Overview (DESKI) Data Quality Course

50

• To modify your query

- The query panel is the only place you can modify what is pulled from the database

• Hit button that looks like a golden keg to modify the query

Page 51: M2 Overview (DESKI) Data Quality Course

51

•Query panel,

•But isn’t opened to the table you were using

Using M2

Using M2 is as simple as: Dragging and Dropping to give the computer

instructions for your query; and Doing the dreaded WORD PROBLEM!

The software is easy! The word problem can be hard

WISDOM Course Focus on the word problem
