Activities begin at Loksa Shipyard
New workshops established as well as 560m of quays equipped with cranes
New production hall for building LASH barges
In 1992, Loksa Shipyard started production of hatch covers and twin deck covers as a sub-supplier for ship yards in Germany, Denmark, Sweden and Russia
In 2004, the repair facilities were closed down with the sale of the floating dock as the steel block activities increased
Loksa Shipyard focus on ship repair activities of vessels up to 115m in length (4,000dwt)
4,000 ton floating dock and several tugs added to operations
In the period 1986-1991 about 1000 LASH barges were built at Loksa Shipyard
Independence of Estonia (1991)
In 1994 OSS acquired Loksa Shipyard from the Estonian government
A comprehensive renovation of the facilities and installation of advanced production equipment was made
Loksa Shipyard has specialized into a company whose core competence is to form, handle, paint and outfit heavy steel structures

Loksa Shipyard have been bought by Loksa Invest OU, the consortium of 3 Estonian companies Crown Solution OU, Frelok AS, Stako Diler OU

• LSY has various technologies for cutting steel such as gas cutting and plasma cutting including bevelling

– 14,580 m2 facility’s maximum height 13 m enables turning of long structures
• Several welding technologies, such as submerged arc, MIG/MAG (both semi-automatic and robotised) and manual welding

• In the painting workshops steel structures are blasted and painted
• Painting workshops are also used for mounting outfitting to complex ship blocks
• In 2005, LSY invested in a fully ventilated painting hall with dimensions of 34x34x15 meters and gates 32x15 meters, which makes it the largest of its kind in Estonia

Roll-On process (multi-wheeler “MAFI”)Barge arriving to the port
• Four quays with maximum length of 210 m and depth between 3.6-4.5 m
• Lifting capacity includes two port cranes with 10 t and 20 t capacity, and a gantry crane able to lift up to 100 t
• LSY has two tug boats handling incoming barges and ships
• Size of ships calling the port is limited by the draught
• Largest ships that can call the port are main cargo/coasters
