LO2.6 On-Press Preparation
On-Press PreparationPaper
Ink
There are a various different types of paper that I could use but the one I would probably use is gloss paper as it allows ink to dry quickly. That reason alone justifies my reason for choosing such a paper but other types of paper include:
Coated Paper, where both sides are a mixture of china clay & latex in order to make coating on the paper and filling it a lot easier.
Matt Finish Paper, similarly with wall paints where it a dull, clay coated paper that helps with bland colour designs or traits and features no sense of gloss or luster.
Silk Finish (Satain) Paper that is smooth and is used to develop a sheen to the print.
There are also a variety of different inks but primarily there are two broad types, dye based and pigment based. Dye based ink produce brighter colour and appear to be more stable with the drawback being that they require a long time to dry completely. Pigment based inks take a long short timespan to dry but doesn’t necessarily allow the options or opportunities for bright colour arrangements.
