KUDOS TO THOSE WHO VOLUNTEER WITH THE RELIGIOUS EDUCATION PROGRAM!... Our appreciation to those
who volunteer with the Religious Education Program that many refer to as CCD. It is the ministry with the biggest commitment
of time – an 8 month period of almost every Sunday and that doesn't count preparation time. “THANK YOU” seems inadequate,
so “May the Lord Bless and keep you always in the Palm of His Hand” to Molly Goossens, Ingrid Crawford, Nancy Pepiot, Mi-
chael Fleck, Abby Dooley, Melanie Meyer and Audra Cardenas and to Lesly and Sarah Canales who help with First Commun-
ion. Also to Ann Carstens who helps with lots of little things and Joan Goossens who does the certificates and other numerous
tasks to help us thru the school year. It really does take almost the whole village. Also a big “THANK YOU “ to those who
helped with the RCIA process...Jim & Jarilyn Kauffman, Steve & Jane Thoreson, Roderick & Vickie Gabbert, Lori Mallory and
of course Deacon Ken Boone and Father Roy. And to our faithful “musicians” who added the touch to all our celebrations at
Mass... and Marjie Vaverka who enhances them with her “decorating” talents. If I've forgotten anyone, “Thank You” to those
unnamed and especially thank you to the Parish for the support of our programs – your love and prayers! GOD BLESS!!!
Food For Thought: “If you love me, you will obey my commandments. I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper, who
will stay with you forever.” John 14:15,16 At the Last Supper, Jesus told his disciples that he would be leaving them to return to the Fa-
ther. In today's Gospel. He reassures them - and us – that we will not be alone. The Holy Spirit was sent to the disciples and is with each of us
as a special helper and friend until Jesus returns to us. In the meantime, we continue to show our love for Jesus by following the command-
ments. The wind is a symbol of the Spirit. Walk outside and feel the wind. Like the wind, the Holy Spirit leads and guides us – sometimes we
are moved gently like a breeze and sometimes it is more forceful like a hurricane wind. Reflection: How is the Holy Spirit moving you? What
difficulties have you overcome because of your belief in the power of the Holy Spirit? íQué dificultades has superado porque crees en el
poder del Espiritu Santo?
When children are orphaned, they often hold on to something to remind them of their lost loved ones. Orphan Annie had a half of a locket;
Oliver Twist had a letter and some victims of the Holocaust had smuggled photographs. Even without the physical presence of their parents,
orphaned children still feel very connected to them. This is the image that Jesus is trying to convey. He explains that it is the Holy Spirit that
is with us and helps us know that we are God's. It is this Spirit that guides us to live the way that God wants us to. The Spirit comes to us in a
special way at our baptism and guides us, even to our surprise sometimes, and helps us to follow the commandments of God.

6th Week of Easter: Peace is my gift to you. John
14.27 Jesus promises his disciples peace. He sends them on Easter evening to be instruments of his peace and forgiveness as God has sent him. Be an instrument of peace in your family and office. Look over the day each evening to see how what the Spirit of Christ risen is teaching you. Prayer of the
Week Lord, make me an instrument of your peace.
Busy Person's Retreat Part 3. How Do You Love Others?
Con’t from May 7
Paul's first letter to the Corinthians (13:4-8) is often the reading of
choice at wedding ceremonies. Perhaps you can think of it also as the
reading of your choice for daily living. You are no doubt very famil-
iar with this passage:
"Love is patient, love is kind. Love is not jealous, it does not put on
airs, it is not snobbish. Love is never rude, it is not self-seeking, it is
not prone to anger, neither does it brood over injuries. Love does not
rejoice in what is wrong but rejoices with the truth. There is no limit
to love's forbearance, to its trust, its hope, power to endure. Love
never fails."
A good way to make an examination of conscience today is to sub-
stitute "I" for "love" to see what the verses tell you about yourself.
For example: "I am patient, I am kind." Or "I am not rude, I am not
self-seeking, I am not prone to anger, neither do I brood over inju-
ries."
When you say, "God is love," to what extent can you also say, "I am
love," knowing, of course, that no human person achieves the full-
ness of love? Nothing is impossible because God loves you! And
you can only love because God first loves you. A saint, Julian of
Norwich, reminded herself constantly: "God loves and delights in
me." Do you do this? And do you in turn love and delight in God?
So let this day be a day of love and loving! A day of delighting in.
Love is an attitude in the heart--and in the mind. To love does not
take any time at all!
