~In Our Thoughts & Prayers~ Homebound Parishioner of the Week

Once again there is no school today (i.e., Wednes-day) at All Saints Academy because like so many of the other schools, classes were cancelled due to the freezing rain that has left the trees beautifully covered with ice. This past Monday we were the only school not to have classes not because of the weather then but because last Sunday we had a minor to major flood in the newest section of the school due to a backed up pipe that drains the roof drains. It appears that the roof drains on the school building drain into the storm sewer in the parking lot to the west of the school. Somehow, be it the recent extreme cold that creat-ed an ice blockage in the pipe or some other cause, the roof drains were not flowing so the water sat on the roof and in the pipes as it was unable to drain properly, and those pipes that run through the interior of the building de-cided to leak which caused a major flood in the school of-fice and the preschool room next door and minor floods in the other preschool rooms and the Fr. Schiller library. So Sunday afternoon Jody got the opportunity teach me how to vacuum up water with a shop vacuum, something else I can now add to my resume. Bob Dean deserves a great amount of thanks for helping us figure out how to fix the problem. Consequently we are looking into what we have to do to prevent this event from reoccurring and also inves-tigating why the pipes inside the ceilings of the building decided to leak. In three and a half weeks the season of Lent will begin. As I wrote to you three weeks ago now is the time for folks to volunteer to help with the Fish Frys. Remember that St. Paul told the Church in Corinth that we have all been given different gifts. As it applies to Fish Fry, some are good at cooking, some are good at hosting, some are good at preparing food, some are good at waiting tables, some at cleaning up, etc. If in your discernment you have discovered that you have a particular gift that would be of benefit to the common good at Fish Fry, please remember to contact Michelle Beisel at 616-9700838 to volunteer your services for one or more of the Fridays of Lent. If you have any questions about any of the jobs in which we need help please feel free to contact Maureen Bednarek, Lori in the Parish Office, or myself. Remember St. Paul’s image that if all of the parts of the body function well in their individual roles then the body as a whole functions well and is healthy. That the body be healthy is the goal we seek, and his image would be that we achieve that by each of us do-ing our little part with the gifts we have been given. And we would add, For the Greater Glory and Honor of God.

Scholastic Book Fair Are you looking for books for your little ones? The elementary campus (2233 Diamond Ave NE) is hosting a scholastic book fair this week dur-ing school hours. Stop by and find some great books. Next week the book fair will be at the middle school campus. Would you like to give the gift of Catholic School Educa-tion? Many of our parish families struggle to afford Catholic school tuition. Some decide they simply can't afford it, even though they want to provide their children with the bless-ings that such an education pro-vides. Now you can help. All Saints Academy's Tuition Angel program makes it possible for you to donate to ASA, and direct your donation to help a youngster learn and grow in God's word. Make a real difference in the life of a child. Please call 364-9453, or go to our web page at www.asagr.org./tuition-angel-program to learn how you can make a difference today… and for years to come.

MISSING A DISH? Please check the parish conference room for dishes you may have left behind from your generous donation to a funeral luncheon. Please take a look after Mass.
